3 was good, I think. It might just have been the lockdown that made it seem that way.
I wish they wouldn't do sequels but just work together again. But I get that getting the money together for a movie is easier if you have that brand.

You forget the movie set up their daughters taking their mantles so its probably them.

Who would be the audience for that? I liked the first two movies when I was the right age to like that sort of thing but 'Bill & Ted' don't have anywhere near enough cultural cachet to attract a new generation of fans and the Gen-Xers who grew up with it are going to want nostalgia, which that wouldn't be.

3 would have worked if they'd been two guys who were sick of the modern world and wanted to go back. that would have captured the sentiment of the people who liked the first films.
i'm not going to use marketing terms to vaguely determine their 7 year time slot "generations" because I'm not a fricking spastic.

I found it unwatchable and after having avoided seeing it for a while, I ended up skipping through and managed about fifteen minutes of it in total.
one and two had been some of my favourite films, saw the in the cinema when they first came out. they were a piece of magic, but the third one shouldn't have existed.

This. Keanu just didn't play his character at all. He never once smiled. He was basically just John Wick on Valium. It was cheap CGI and a cutesy plot. It was built up for fricking ever but like all of those long-gestating sequels: Dumb and Dumber To, Sin City 2, Zoolander 2, it just didn't bring it AT ALL. And I blame this solely on Keanu because he clearly feels so "Zen" and above it, always having to combat this idea that he's dumb. He's managed to stay a top-billed action star for 30 years and doesn't want to put on the goofy face from his roots. He failed at drama in many movies like Dangerous Liasons and Dracula, having a weak and vague accent. Then he did Speed which was a surprise hit, then lightning struck again with The Matrix, and he's been chugging along ever since, milking his seriousness for all it's worth. It's like trying to get Bill Murray to do a real comedy again after he turned the page in Rushmore. He'll do the droll Wes Anderson "comedy", but his slapstick weirdo character days are unfortunately over.

        >This. Keanu just didn't play his character at all.
Yes, he did. I'm sorry you're an imbecile with zero life experience but he was categorically Ted, only one that is a father well into the latter half of his life and whose dreams never worked out. He was beaten down and all but completely defeated. He was worried about his daughter.
        >DURRRR HOW COME HE WASN'T JUST LOL "WHOA!" THE ENTIRE TIME, TED IS LIKE THAT, THAT WASN'T TED
You're not a fricking person. What we got in the movie was a person. Congratulations on not understanding or recognizing humanity.

    >the first movie came out in 1989
Funny how 99% of modern culture is basically gayer, less inspired version of 80s-90s culture. The rate of cultural change seems to have ground to a crawl after 1999 or so. Can you think of a piece of modern media that you could take back 30 years ago and people would have their minds blown by how different and groundbreaking it is? But then compare 1990s culture and 1960s culture and it's basically two different planets. It's like we're stuck in a groundhog day and can only rehash the stuff we already have.

I saw this happening 20 years ago, the death of tv/film.
they ran out of ideas, after 100 years of pushing everything they could there was just nothing more to do. so they have to recycle, send old stuff through the chopshop, but it's like a modern art student trying to formulaically reproduce "what made the mona lisa great" using poster paints and a dustbin lid.
it'll come out stilted and unpleasing.
