Maybe the Pottsfield and Frog Cruise ones. Nice and comfy watching.
Don't think I got it in me to watch the whole series this year. >mfw I realize this is 9 years old now.
I'd say the Beldam was much more invasive. Coraline was her main target, unlike Wirt to whom the unknown is just kind of indifferent or Aggie who as after the Pilgrims and not against Norman.
>any type of media has come close to touching
Please for the love of God read some literature. The characters in atla are cool and all but are still pretty standard and without near as much depth as other works. Not saying that atla isn’t a good show but please expand your horizons.
I genuinely don't understand ranking shit like this, one show is a 3 season epic, that mostly plays it by the book while the other one is mostly a retelling of Dante's inferno with some folklore tropes thrown in
One had a few bad episodes and a Deus Ex Machina, while the other one had like... one mid episode and a cliche "layer reveal"
I honestly don't think ether of them have the same narrative goals so somehow saying "this one did this better then this one" seems like bull to me
>rock that miraculously lands perfectly to unlock Aang's magic instawin state when he's losing >god turtle that magically appears to give Aang a never-before-heard-of solution so he doesn't have to make a hard decision >said hard decision is part of moral dilemma that comes out of nowhere
THAT homie KILLED THOUSANDS WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT >pic rel >that time he became a giant sea monster and sank 50 war ships >other avatars had 0 problems killing
Why was aang such a lil b***h???
Avatar is overrated and reddit, if it were Japanese people wouldn't view it as anything particularly notable. OGTW is actually something unique in animation
Binged it yesterday. For some reason, I didn't remember the unambiguous happy ending for everyone. I could've sworn that the ending was bittersweet somehow.
Yeah this month was both lovely and painful cause of the tons of work work/new stories I consumed + my birthday. I am going to watch nightmare before Christmas first because I have never done so and I am genuinely curious but I with binge over the garden wall after.
Watched it over the weekend. Still pretty good. I watched it for the first time last Halloween, and I think I liked parts of it more on second watch, like Wirt's character development and Greg's wacky humor. The Beast still seems like he was defeated pretty quickly though.
NTA but I think the point of the Beast is that the only real powers it has are what we give to it ourselves, it's not a powerful wizard or something that can zap you to dust at will.
It gets defeated easily because the solution really is easy - just don't listen to it and it goes away
Wirt is pretty lucky with girls, innit? He managed to get chummy with three in just like, one night given he was technically the whole time in the unknown drowning in a lake.
I can make it sadder for you.
This ritual of ours is one I shared with a previous love so it was always a mimicry of something that came before. It wasn't "Ours" and she never knew that but I sure did every re-watch.
The main characters look like they were designed by 7 year olds, and they can't emote for shit. But everything else about this series is perfect. I don't know why a near masterpiece has to be held down by such shitty animation.
Have there been any good cartoons since Over The Garden Wall? Or has it all been mediocrity like Amphibia or shows that were amazing until they fricking blew it like Star Vs?
Why? It's great. It does the atmosphere phenomenally, which most otgw fans will appreciate and the jokes were pretty good as well.

I'm not giving you my opinion of it. Not when I feel like you're shilling it dishonestly either to troll me or to force mods to take action and ban TADC threads.

Fine. At least tell me 1 thing. Did you like it?

I feel like I'm missing a lot of context. Mostly because IT'S A PILOT.
Don't rec me isolated oneshots when I'm asking for shows better than Star Vs.

Why? Even if it's just 1 pilot it can still be amazing. Sometimes more is less. Also watch Primal and Onzeling for more indie goodness.

Nevermind, I'll just start cutting myself instead.
This show has such a specific aesthetic that it's hard to put into words. A time and place that never existed while also serving as a greatest hits of 19th century Americana.
Maybe the Pottsfield and Frog Cruise ones. Nice and comfy watching.

Who have the worst time and most tramua with Folklore monster worse? Coraline with the Beldam, Norman with the Aggie or Wirt in the Unknown?
Answers?
What does that question mean
I'd say the Beldam was much more invasive. Coraline was her main target, unlike Wirt to whom the unknown is just kind of indifferent or Aggie who as after the Pilgrims and not against Norman.
>sweater: on
>apple cider: frosty
>halloween candy: given to trick or treaters
>fireplace: roaring
yup, it's OTGW time.
Over The Garden Wall is an A ranked cartoon. It's very good but I've yet to see another S ranked cartoon like Avatar The Last Airbender.
How about Arcane? That it kino as hell even though it's going to wait until season 2 is finished
Haven't seen it. I mean this all about personal taste but honestly ATLA is something I don't think any type of media has come close to touching

I meant cartoons and movies not books ya dingus
please become my gf
I'm not feminine though
bummer
That's it? Bruh you're supposed to feminize me, duhhhhhh
that would take too much effort + you have a penis

I'm not comparing them in the ranking it's about overall enjoyment/experience watching the show. Duhh

Is the S for Shit Ending?
>moral dilemma that comes out of nowhere
Aang always hated killing, moron
that’s why he’s vegetarian
THAT homie KILLED THOUSANDS WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT

I choose to blame Ehasz
Nah otgw is better
Avatar is overrated and reddit, if it were Japanese people wouldn't view it as anything particularly notable. OGTW is actually something unique in animation
ew avatar, the soundtrack good tho but over the garden wall songs are better
Binged it yesterday. For some reason, I didn't remember the unambiguous happy ending for everyone. I could've sworn that the ending was bittersweet somehow.
He can’t go back to see Beatrice again. He never even saw her human form. That’s pretty bittersweet imo.
If I’m not mistaken some anon here once posted an elaborate fan fic of their worlds meeting which I didn’t get to read yet, anybody got the source?
I already rewatched it the other day on the stream.
lead through the mist
by the milk-lighted moon
all that was lost is revealed
I’ve rewatched it already since I will be working this evening. Have fun rewatching it as well guys.
Yeah this month was both lovely and painful cause of the tons of work work/new stories I consumed + my birthday. I am going to watch nightmare before Christmas first because I have never done so and I am genuinely curious but I with binge over the garden wall after.
Yup, swimelodeon is playin it
not the show but, i'm doin a re-read on the comics which is already a lot on its own
Are these any good? I only heard from a friend that they ruined some characters
How many comics are there? I read Distillatoria, which was great, and the circus one was bad.
Did my viewing last night
Watched it over the weekend. Still pretty good. I watched it for the first time last Halloween, and I think I liked parts of it more on second watch, like Wirt's character development and Greg's wacky humor. The Beast still seems like he was defeated pretty quickly though.

So, what's the beast supposed to represent?
Our own anxiety/insecurities/depression?
He's a manifestation of suicide so yeah, I think he is. He devours those who give up.
He's Satan
The beast is literally satan
Got a MEGA to the series?
https://mega.nz/folder/p2oyyb5K#M_LefosMI8Z34h2SeMi-wA
Got this from the spooktober thread.
Already did.
Every year I forget how well he can sing and every year I am reminded
I always watch it on November 1st with my mom.
I literally *just* finished watching it.
Wirt is pretty lucky with girls, innit? He managed to get chummy with three in just like, one night given he was technically the whole time in the unknown drowning in a lake.
If Wirt weren't so awkward and didn't over think everything, he'd be a legitimate chad.
But then he wouldn't get those 'soft clarinet poet boy' points which are probably half the reason girls like him so much.
No! I'd watch it yearly with my gf and we just separated.
Sorry to hear anon.
I can make it sadder for you.

Digital Circus is a fricking masterpiece. WATCH IT. And then come and join the threads.
So you're just gonna be disingenuous.
?? Watch the pilot.
I have watched it. But I can't trust you're not being facetious in your posting

If Adult Swim is straight-up airing old CN shows, maybe we can bother them to put OtGW on TV again
I watched it for the first time yesterday. I get it now.
The Circus Friends comic is kino
Is it like the Amazing Digital Circus?
