It was for me. I appreciated the point and the overall message and I'm glad it didn't go in the same direction as the Aqua Teen movie where it was just status quo bull shit.

Not really but I’m glad it got an ending.

    It wasn't that heavy

I'm glad it got an ending but I didn't think it was terribly well executed. The first half in particular was very plodding. I went back and rewatched the entire show afterwards and the contrast was stark - Metalocalypse's humour was always really fast paced (on account of the 11 minute episodes) and would cut between scenes and gags faster than you could keep up with, while AotD has some really slow lifeless segments (I'm on xanax haha get it I'll keep saying it for 2 minutes until you tell me it's funny) that completely kill the energy. I didn't enjoy the music as much either - from what I hear plenty of people are really happy with Dethalbum 4 so I'll just chalk that up to me much preferring the style of 1 and 2 vs 3 and 4. All in all I found I barely laughed and I felt very little, which I wasn't expecting. Still, it wasn't a bad ending, I think they were just rusty after 10 years of not writing anything as well as trying to write for a slow paced film instead of blistering 10 minute episodes.

It was the best they could pull in 2023. Not really good though.
Not enough humor. Barely a joke or two.
Dethklok aren't narcissistic rich guys pulling different shit by accident. Instead they are shown as whiny weaklings for the most of the show.
Music and Dethalbum are somewhat bleak, barely 2 relatively good tracks at all.
Salacia going full Aizen and turning himself into a boring giant Starmie pokemon with lasers instead of way more menacing Half-Man with mind control.
    That "I respect!" complete bullshit.
It could be much, much worse. It wasn't completely bad, but it wasn't Metalocalypse nor something at it's level. Requiem was way better.

      >Not enough humor. Barely a joke or two.
You're just miserable. I laughed out loud many times.
      >Dethklok aren't narcissistic rich guys pulling different shit by accident.
Bruh did you miss the point of Doomstar Requiem that badly
      >Music and Dethalbum are somewhat bleak, barely 2 relatively good tracks at all.
Blatantly false, album is full of certified bangers

Different anon, and it really wasn't funny, especially compared to previous seasons.

All that really needs to be said about it is that it was clearly meant to be a rock opera and Brendan shot himself in the foot when he (understandably) released the score 6 years ago as Galaktikon 2 and locked himself out of using it in the movie.

It's good just for adding visuals and voice acting to the ending we already had, but I do think that galaktikon 2 is the better version.

    >write the song of salvation
    >WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE
What did Nathan mean by this?

To be fair, acceptance of your own mortality and continuance in the face of it is right there in the church's mantra, and SOS treads the same ground in a brighter light.

I liked it a lot, but at the same time it didn't fit the same vibe as the show.

The other movie was better, but this worked because it was a finale. It wrapped everything up in a satisfactory way, and that was all I wanted.

So was the whole reason Deathklok wanted to do a song for fishes in the early season just a means to connect with a God?

They didn't know it, but probably. It stands to reason that the Whale God was tugging the threads of fate just as much as Salacia was, even before she revealed herself to Nathan. See also: Scrambles the Death Dealer.

yes, at least for nathan. that's also why he destroyed the album

Doomstar Requiem should have spent more time actually being a finale but this did about as well as you can expect as a bookend for a series after a decade of waiting.

I liked it. Not exactly how I wanted the series to end but I knew with how long we've had to wait for the ending there was no way it could've delivered the ending people wanted. Same thing with Samurai Jack.

I'm just happy the ending was at least decent.

It's painful how much better the Doomestar Requiem was. It's too bad they didn't have another full season to tie up all the side character's plots. That could've helped with the messy pacing of the movie and the fact that Toki and Swisgar were barely in it.
