The Running Man is an underrated kino.

It's based on a good novel, but Manhunt took that same concept and did something better with it, imo.
I wouldn't mind a remake, provided the studios don't try to actively make it bad.

A Running Man remake with Tron or Blade Runner aesthetics could be kino

Armold had more varied and critically acclaimed movies. Sly did a lot of action and suspense films, which while good, weren't as critically important. I think only Rocky counts as a "great" film and Demolition Man as a creative sci-fi film. Meanwhile Arnold did:

    >Conan
    >Terminator
    >Predator
    >Total Recall
    >Pumping Iron

      Anonymous

      >Demolition Man
      >Judge Dredd
      >Rocky
      >First Blood
      >Cobra
      >Over the top
Sly had as great movies as Arnie, but Arnie's are more memorable

I love rocky 5. Way more reasonable ending than what we get in Balboa. And a great film in its own right.

Demolition Man can stand up to Arnold's best sci-fi films though its tone is ironic and satirical. Also Snipes made my list of "actors whom I wish had played the Joker at some point" because of that film.

    For me, Ahnuld pinches it.

    Their best 3...

Arnie: Predator, Total Recall, Conan the Barbarian (that's right, no T2. T1 is better anyway)

    Sly: Rocky, Demolition Man, Cliffhanger.

Sly could be the better actor when he felt like it. Unfortunately, those examples do not make up the bulk of his career. And that's not to praise Arnold's acting, he cruises entirely on charisma. Which is also why most of his comedy roles beat Sly too. And just judging movies as a whole, the Nazinater clearly wins.

      >he cruises entirely on charisma
Was there ever an actor like this? No one comes to mind, because I don't remember a bad Arnie movie (yes, I loved Victor Freeze)

They are both literally titans of the action movie era. No one will ever be able to match them as icons, and honestly these are the only two Id say are in the same playing field. If I had to choose I would go with Ahnold. Both have an amazing amount of kino under their belts though. They dont make them like they used to.

Ok, let's look at it this way

        Arnold pros:
        >more varied filmography
        >more iconic roles
        >higher entertainment factor
        >bigger amount of memorable one-liners
        >successful in various fields, a model immigrant
        Arnold cons:
        >limited range as an actor
        >opportunistic to a fault
        >views on things can shift depending on the most favorable outcome
        >not a stellar family life

        Sly pros:
        >more "high brow" filmography, overall
        >is actually capable of writing scripts that aren't awful
        >has remained true to himself throughout his entire career
        >good marriage and well raised kids
        Sly cons:
        >limited range as an actor
        >successful in one field as opposed to Arnold who conquered 3 or more
        >less variety in filmography, also more duds

Overall, they're neck and neck but both will go down as GOATs despite it all.

It's slightly better than Arnold but neither are Day Lewis tier.
Doesn't really matter though, if anything, they prove that hard work beats talent.

Sly was good in Cop Land, I can't imagine Arnold managing that.

I think pic related is Arnold's biggest flex purely as an actor, but the movie itself is nothing special plot-wise.

Rocky is my favorite movie of all time and has been a source of major motivation but overall Arnold was the 80s 90s king.

My favorite is JCVD, but Stallone stomps the shit out of Arnie. It's unreal to me, how much natural charisma Arnold has in something like Pumping Iron, and how poorly it translates to any of his films

Pumping Iron was scripted anon. He played an exaggerated version of himself. But you're incorrect that it didn't translate to any of his films. If anything, it's what kept him relevant for so many years.
