And the black oil, the vaccine project, the alien bounty hunters, the alien rebels, the Syndicate members having to give up their children to the aliens? Never happened, bro lol.

I started watching for her but then I fell in love with the on-screen relationship between her and Mulder. For me it's just one of the most beautiful things I've seen. A rare platonic relationship between 2 beautiful people. Then Mulder left in Season 8 and I thought it's still worth watching for Scully alone but the tone is so grim and Scully is just kinda a b***h all the time in Season 8 and lost her warmth. As of this moment I stopped watching the X-Files but I might just start watching again from Season 1.
NTA but Fight the Future is kino and worth watching. It satifises both being a good big screen version of the show for fans as well as a fresh entry point for new viewers. "I want to believe" is the movie you can easily skip.
I think at the very least Season 6 is worth your time. Some of the best episodes of the series are in that one. Season 7 is an even split of great episodes and all time worst episodes. After those it kind of never recovers or hits its peak again. I think there's something worthwhile in every season, but I can't really recommend anything in good conscience past Season 7. I definitely agree with the consensus though. The mythology wraps up in Season 6 quite nicely and then never makes sense after that and feels like spinning the wheels. Part of the reason the revival was such a disappointment was that it continues to be nonsense mytharc shit instead of having a sense of genuine purpose. Like they brought it back and added nothing. Although honestly, I really like Season 11. Season 10 is the worst season, but Season 11 is unfairly lumped in with it and kind of decent.
