Show me a more tragic case in the film industry when the authors really tried, but no one appreciated it

        >Wop
She's israeli lol. They make a joke about it because when her parents get murdered Ash makes them cross headstones.
But she's a hot israeliteess so she gets the pass.

It wasn't woke. At worst you could complain about the sidekicks but they were used to have Ash bounce one-liners off of. It got cancelled because it was on STARZ so everyone just pirated it.

It leaned way to hard into pure slapstick comedy by the third season. It was still alright. And for the tone of the Evil Dead series, it ended appropriately, even if it was supposed to be a cliffhanger.

I liked it and then bruce went insane and blamed "pirates" for it flopping. I paid for it back then because I had it(starz) on Direct TV.
    been seeding it(complete seasons) since.

I love Evil Dead 1 & 2 Ash. He was just an average joe who was forced to step up under extreme circumstances, all the while trying not to lose his mind. Army of Darkness Ash went a little too comedic but it still worked to some degree. Ash vs Evil Dead he just became a full blown butthole sleazeball. Literally unlikable. They made him a baffoon. A cartoon character. If Bruce comes back to the character I hope they bring him back down to Earth.

No one wants to mention it when talking about where this show went wrong but it's very obvious AvED pulled a TLJ on Ash and suffered for it. No one waited 30 years to learn that Ash likes to get fingered, was cucked by his dad, or that he wears girdles now. I've seen people try and defend this change with gay headcanons by citing that the events in the trilogy messed up him up, but the show goes out of its way to cut the head off that theory by implying he was a douchey blowhard even before the cabin. Should Evil Dead ever become relevant, I guarantee you this will quickly be seen as the black sheep of the franchise, there's no redeeming qualities to it besides the fact that it exists.

The problem is that for some incomprehensible reason Bruce loves this shit himself
Ash vs Evil Dead has this movie all over it
Which if you've seen it was "Frick that pompous cowardly piece of shit Bruce Campbell; written by, directed by and starring Bruce Campbell"
In fact the Last Action Hero meta plot was literally that Bruce Campbell is a huge homosexual compared to Ash

True. Worse than that, however, Sam loves it too.

I won't act like I don't know why, Sam loves making Bruce act a fool on camera whenever possible. But they definitely overplayed it in the show.

It was much better than anyone expected it to be and was a fairly big hit.
I never watched the third season though so I guess I'm to blame for that too

Literally half the running time was spent on closeups of that ugly sidekick making stupid faces.

It again shows a fundamental disrespect for what the audience/fans want and expect. Nobody enjoyed ED movies for the ethnic sidekicks, that's for sure.
And with all due respect to Lucy Lawless, I wanted to watch this for Ash, not to have her eat away half the running time.

      >And with all due respect to Lucy Lawless
Ruby was really the show's weakest point through no fault of the actress

Remember that they literally killed her off to replace her with her own time traveling clone to excuse completely retooling her characterization and motivations for the third time in eight episodes

Remember in the finale they kill her again and even Ash gets sarcastically confused about whether he's supposed to feel bad about it or not, as if the script is mocking that the script fricked up

I like how this show did half of everything to make a tighter show. Half the episode runtime, half the episode count per season, and half the cast size. Way more genre shows should do that.

I really liked the sidekicks. Pablo was funny and played well with Ash and Kelly was good as the straight guy (gal). They felt like characters but they also weren't supplanting Ash as the main character.
Ash's daughter was kinda lame but I think that was just because the seasons writing was all over the place because they didn't know if they show was ending or what.
I'd say the only weakness was that their villains other than Ruby weren't really noteworthy. Baal was mostly forgettable and season 3 was rushed.
It doesn't help that their hands were tied behind their backs in regards to Army of Darkness.

It has its moments. And it's still the best thing to happen to Evil Dead since the original trilogy. The ending is kino, too.

It got multiple seasons despite being a niche show exclusive to a paywalled nothing of a network that nobody has heard of. Not like it was yet another one season Netflix failure. Personally I only watched it (on streaming site) for Bruce as all the other characters, especially the sidekicks were shit, the women looked ugly (wtf happened to Lawless?) and didn't even get naked, which is fricking horror 101.
