I was watching some literally who YouTuber the other day who said that it looks like this show will be going the Kenobi route and ignore its namesake in favor of every other character in it. I couldn't put my finger on why this show still didn't sit well with me - obviously it doesn't LOOK great, and is going to be chock full of "force is female" bullshit - but I think that's totally it. We're going to get an Ahsoka show where we'll be watching everyone else boss b***h it up, and we'll come out the other side having learned nothing new about this character.
The series title is a misnomer anyway. It's more or less Rebels season 5, so it's an ensemble show and Ahsoka wasn't even part of the original crew to begin with. The cast being estrogen heavy is more or less a direct result from this, since the 2 main male leads were killed off and went missing in action respectively and the main plot is (or at least should be) finding Ezra, the original male lead, again. Can't complain about the blonde antagonist jedi girl, since this is the closest I'll ever get to a live action Lana Benico.

Simple reason, because there is nothing new to add to the character, DAVE resurrected her with time travel crap for no reason other than so she doesn't die. Her character arc is done, it's finished.

Yes, Lucas is a bleeding heart moron with a really poor grasp of sociopolitical issues. Insofar as his art is a commentary on that sort of stuff, it's very kneejerk and in line with mainstream left-leaning zeitgeist. HOWEVER, this sort of stuff really only tends to provide the backdrop of Star Wars, and rather it's his curiosity for and love of history, faith, old Hollywood, and old cinema in general that tends to characterize the bulk of his films, so the politics don't tend to bleed through in annoying ways.

There was some hokey shit in the EU for sure but World Devastators and the Pellaeon ships just look fricking sick. The sequels are so fricking soulless with the same minor changes to existing ships and shitty rehashes of planets. Say what you will about the prequels but the planets, aliens and technology were great, they actually put effort into that shit. Can't say the same for Yidsney.

The villain has to be like actual people they hate. The concepts they put in their movie/show all have to be grounded in current day concepts and ideologies even if it's a historical piece, futuristic sci-fi, medieval fantasy. It makes everything have a sameness to it that with such saturation as we have now, quickly becomes boring and that's why people are tuning out.

is that writing from your experience is good and preferable, but these people HAVE NO EXPERIENCE. They've never suffered, traveled, gone to war, faced overwhelming odds, launched a project to success or failure. The reason everything is so iterative, sloppy, and feminized is because these writers literally just sit around all day watching Netflix while they scroll social media. That's their experience, and that's what the audience gets.
You see this in children playing, girls play with dolls (caretaker) or will rope boys into playing house with them wherein they re-enact what they see at home (mother, father, child) but they are playing a version of themselves.
Boys will start with a concept and then become that, Star Wars is a good example, pretending you're Obi-Wan Kenobi, or Luke, or Anakin and having lightsaber battles with friends.
Even meek or cowardly boys when they see themselves as Obi-Wan for example are brave during the play they have, I think this is why all the best actors in the world are men, they get lost in the role, and get accustomed to replacing their ego with the character, something I don't think even occurs to a woman.
Also why women tend to make bad writers as well, it's always through their own lens.

I'm genuinely curious how big Star Wars is right now with kids. Like I grew up when the prequels were dropping and everyone bought the Legos and we dueled with our shitty plastic sabers. We had the LucasArts Golden Age and used to play Jedi Outcast multiplayer on LAN in the school computer lab. We had the DK guides and those wicked cross section books for the ships and vehicles. Are you stupid? Jacen's turn to the Dark Side wasn't just KT, it was an executive mandate from Lucasarts and the series was handled by a committee of writers. Him killing Mara wasn't even Traviss' descision, they wanted him to kill someone important that was close to him, and with Luke/Han/Leia still having a no kill restriction on them the only options were Mara or Jaina. If that restriction wasn't in place, it would almost certainly have been Han or Leia.
Turning him back to the light wasn't an option, because they needed him to die because his perspective on the Force was a no-no under Lucas, therefore he Sith and he evil. It's shit, but they tried to play it the best they could.
That wasn't a lie, LotF was written by Traviss, Denning, and Allston, with influence from the rest of Lucasarts. Again, they wanted someone to die and in the end it was Mara. You're a fricking moron if you think Traviss made that decision on her own.

I was watching some literally who YouTuber the other day who said that it looks like this show will be going the Kenobi route and ignore its namesake in favor of every other character in it. I couldn't put my finger on why this show still didn't sit well with me - obviously it doesn't LOOK great, and is going to be chock full of "force is female" bullshit - but I think that's totally it. We're going to get an Ahsoka show where we'll be watching everyone else boss b***h it up, and we'll come out the other side having learned nothing new about this character.
The series title is a misnomer anyway. It's more or less Rebels season 5, so it's an ensemble show and Ahsoka wasn't even part of the original crew to begin with. The cast being estrogen heavy is more or less a direct result from this, since the 2 main male leads were killed off and went missing in action respectively and the main plot is (or at least should be) finding Ezra, the original male lead, again. Can't complain about the blonde antagonist jedi girl, since this is the closest I'll ever get to a live action Lana Benico.

It's true that modern Hollywood writers seem incapable of writing anything that isn't within their personal realm of experience. The main character has to be like them. The villain has to be like actual people they hate. The concepts they put in their movie/show all have to be grounded in current day concepts and ideologies even if it's a historical piece, futuristic sci-fi, medieval fantasy. It makes everything have a sameness to it that with such saturation as we have now, quickly becomes boring and that's why people are tuning out.
It’s literally a female and gay thing. Lego did a whole study about the way the genders interact with their entertainment. Boiled down, males just enjoy the story for what it is, and girls need it to be about them.
Not even just enjoying the story at face value, though: wasn't it that boys actually empathized (probably not the word used) and put in the work to "become" the character they were roleplaying as? It's hilarious that men are actually more interested in people than women once you reach a certain depth, because we hear the opposite so often.
Another part of the issue, though,
is that writing from your experience is good and preferable, but these people HAVE NO EXPERIENCE. They've never suffered, traveled, gone to war, faced overwhelming odds, launched a project to success or failure. The reason everything is so iterative, sloppy, and feminized is because these writers literally just sit around all day watching Netflix while they scroll social media. That's their experience, and that's what the audience gets.

Even meek or cowardly boys when they see themselves as Obi-Wan for example are brave during the play they have, I think this is why all the best actors in the world are men, they get lost in the role, and get accustomed to replacing their ego with the character, something I don't think even occurs to a woman.
Also why women tend to make bad writers as well, it's always through their own lens.

Ahsoka was born 36 BBY (19 years backwards to the end of the clone wars in Episode III, and she was 17 when those ended: 17+19 = 36) so she's 36 years old in A New Hope
It's 4 years after ANH to ROTJ, so that would put her at 40 during the Battle of Endor, 9 years after that is 49, therefore "nearly 50 years old"
Rosario Dawson is 44, so she's a good fit for this age of Ahsoka, but obviously she'd be shitty if you were going for Clone Wars Ahsoka or early Rebellion Ahsoka unless you were gonna de-age her with deepfake tech

Him killing Mara wasn't even Traviss' descision, they wanted him to kill someone important that was close to him, and with Luke/Han/Leia still having a no kill restriction on them the only options were Mara or Jaina. If that restriction wasn't in place, it would almost certainly have been Han or Leia.
Turning him back to the light wasn't an option, because they needed him to die because his perspective on the Force was a no-no under Lucas, therefore he Sith and he evil. It's shit, but they tried to play it the best they could.
