So only 3 movies?
I just find it so shocking that there really isn't much before it that is so intensely aesthetically rich.
There has to be something more, no!?
inspired is such a weird word to use. aesthetically it's almost it's own thing, unlike almost anything that came before it. even star wars and 2001 don't look visually similar to it at all.
not really. bladerunner is more known for the rain and neon lights of a city that doesnt look too different from any major ones we have today. star wars is all fictional landscapes. sure maybe some of the robot could fit in but bladerunner feels much more gritty/mature whereas star wars feels much more campy/light.
So in order to be inspired by something it has to be exactly the same?
Someone can't see small elements of something and expand on them in their own way?
Yeah, but was anybody using the phrase cyberpunk in 1982?
The only reason one might think it's not complex is because it's been done to death since.
If it's so common, please give some more examples of other films that had this aesthetic before Blade Runner.
I would have said the Neuromancer book but they were released around the same time. In fact, I remember reading that Gibson thought people would think that he had ripped off Blade Runner.
Films? Not sure but vidya? Cyberpunk 2077, there is literally a character in the game that looks like Pris, the character is completely different though. There are a lot of characters, stories, quests, themes in that game that are ripped from Blade Runner and for good reason, it works.
Being from the same part of the World as Ridley Scott, he said what inspired him most was seeing the chemical plant lit up at night and when you see the chemical works he's talking about and see the movie it's very stark.

Why don’t they make good content like this, instead of the shot content we have today? Boggles the mind
so you hate genius?
She cute
>irrelevant question with lust-provoking image
It has a lot of noir tropes and vibes
the fifth element maybe?
>bad bait
Alien obviously
This is like asking what inspired Harry Potter 2 and saying Harry Potter 1.
Why were Pris and Rachel played by different actresses? Why is she so ugly?
huh?
Because they're two different characters, why are you asking such a question with such an obvious answer?
Ironically Pris then inspired the look of Aurra Sing in Star Wars
>aesthetically inspired Blade Runner?
Hourglass Sanatorium

It was just film noir in the future. Not THAT unique.
Name 2 other that isn’t Dark City

Draw a line somewhere. Otherwise anything sci-fi is also bladerunner. Anything that is noir is also bladerunner.
You are a very very narrow minded person.
The Valerian comics, possibly?
Also had a confirmed influence on Star Wars.
Judge Dredd was also already a thing by the time BR was being filmed.
You’re looking too much into it, it’s not really that aesthetically complex. It’s just cyberpunk

Metropolis (1927)
I'd tried to watch this once and got filtered hard
I would have said the Neuromancer book but they were released around the same time. In fact, I remember reading that Gibson thought people would think that he had ripped off Blade Runner.
>book
Might as well have said it was inspired by Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by PKD
its inspired by the fricking book its based on your fricking austistic moron
do you even know what "aesthetically" means
if you read the fricking descriptions you can design the sets based on it moron.
In about as many different ways as there are designers.
Case in point, "Dune" by David Lynch and "Dune" by Denis Villeneuve are based on the same book.
you're an idiot.
40s noir plus Citizen Kane in terms of lighting.
Why did Tyrrell corporation made a 14 yo looking android?
They make them to order

Cyberpunk 2077 came out 38 years after Blade Runner.
Can no one on this website read?
>Cyberpunk 2077 came out 38 years after Blade Runner.
Holy shit
Don't have to be so mean about it anon
yeah did you not read the part where it said you're a homosexual?
