Deathstroke, l think that pedo arc needs to be retconned.
It's not a one-off arc to be retconned, it's the story that put him on the map, the key component of the revenge plot that ran through the first 40 issues of the New Teen Titans. It's basically Slade's origin story.
I am not talking about retconning the entirety of judas contract, l am talking about just retconning *THAT* part.
NTA but why? I dont care about a supervillain that kills people for money doing bad shit
He's more of a government mercenary, which is slightly different than a freelancer. Peacemaker has a sense of national duty rather than a paycheck
>Dropping a bomb on a major American city and murdering hundreds of thousands of people.
You sleep.
>Fricking a 15 year old
THIS MUST BE RETCONNED
>first thing
in character
>second thing
not in character
Deathstroke being a sociopathic butthole who would manipulate and abuse a teenager in his quest for revenge is absolutely in character, it's literally from arc that created and defined his character.
Deathstroke bombing Bludhaven was completely out of character. Just admit you don't know the character.
That's hilarious, infopill me on this.
>infopill
Lurk moar
it was retconned in priest's run to where slade only kissed her, however dc published a trade or something called the other history of the dc universe which called slade out for being a rapist and dc basically retired the character shortly after (funny how their female characters who did questionably non-consensual sexual acts like talia al ghul and poison ivy didn't get written out)
The other history of the DC universe isn't canon, it also says that Katana's sword has no magic and she has no kind of formal training, it's just the DC universe seen through Ridley Scott's eyes.
And they didn't really retire Deathstroke after that book, he still got used in Deathstroke Inc., had a crossover with Batman and Robin, and was one of the main bad guys in Dark Crisis.
Sure, Deathstroke is technically on limbo right now, but it didn't happen after the other history of the DCU, it happened way later because of how he ended up after Dark Crisis.
yeah. i remember reading some deathstroke inc comics that got storytimed here. if i remember correctly he jobbed every chance he got in those books and was really just a prelude to dark crisis where dc decided deathstroke was gonna be the big bad for some reason. the series ended with him apparently losing all his powers and we haven't seen him since, and i'm not expecting to see him for a while either because of current year political reasons, thats why i said they basically retired the character. i'm aware he's getting an elseworld miniseries where he's a viking, but in the main continuity i don't think dc will use slade for some time
>if i remember correctly he jobbed every chance he got in those books
That's not how I remember it!
>because of current year political reasons
Nah, I don't think it's because of that, I feel like it makes complete sense to give Slade a break after he was the final boss of a Crisis, he'll be back eventually, one way or another.
Deathsroke Inc. and Shadow War leading into Dark Crisis were so stupid.
They spent all this time building up Deathstroke to fight Black Canary and Batman and Damian only for Dark Crisis to be about Deathstroke vs Nightwing, when they hadn't interacted since the The Lazarus Contract and hadn't had any real enmity since Infinite fricking Crisis and Batman Reborn.
Deathstroke destroying the shitty Teen Titans Academy made the whole thing worth it.
He didn't kill enough of the kids to justify an event that stupid.
>wah wah muh mail rights and false equivalences
Ivy and Talia did plenty of stuff before they did questionable sex stuff. Slade was introduced as a pedo, so of course it's coloured his whole existence.
Also
>DC have retired the character
Proof of this?
when did i mention "male rights"? i'm just pointing out a double standard. slade did plenty of stuff after judas contract and never once after did any sexually questionable acts, yet poison ivy has more stories where she does questionable sex stuff yet that stigma hasn't stuck to her? seems like a double standard to me. and slade hasn't appeared since
i just kind of assume that dc being the far left political activists that they are wanted to distance themselves from slade whose pedophilia defines his whole existence and wrote him out
I thought Cinemaphilemblr was just a meme, holy shit, crawl back to rëddit you pathetic fricking homosexual
I think needs more teen gfs
Can we really call Elektra an assassin anymore? Same goes for Black Widow.
On similar tangent, The Hand are kind of lame because they lack a distinct leader or named members people actually care about. At least over at DC with The League of Assassins you got Ras Al Ghul. Which speaking of, how many DC criminals/assassins are card carrying members of that organization?
League of Assassins got complicated post-Rebirth by getting split between the LoA, headed by Talia, and the League of Shadows lead by Lady Shiva.
Later in Williamson's Robin mini it was revealed there was also once a League of Lazarus that got disbanded. They recently complicated it some other way, and I can't remember right now how.
Lady Vic is a great character and doesn't get enough attention.
Desperately needs a redesign.
She dead.
What do you mean she's dead? She appeared in Williamson's Robin run last year.
Arcade was always good for a fun side story. One million dollars per hit, promising a wild death trap and successful elimination if the target or your money back.
Arcade is just a weird assassin in general because of his methods. Everyone learns a skill like guns or knives, while this guys creates overly elaborate games/death rooms.
Speaking of payment gimmicks, there's Chance. Guy has a rate, but will offer the double or nothing deal to get a bigger payout
Does Chameleon have any good stories or single issues of him being an actual spy/assassin, sneaking into places and swapping disguises Agent 47-style? Seems like an underused character in that regard.
Batroc the Leaper, can't help but root for him
We really should see more of Black Spider
did we ever see what he looked like, or was he just batman the whole time?
In that movie? Yeah, we clearly did. The switch didn't happen until during/after the evidence warehouse fight
I agree.
JUST LIKE CAP
Could Taskmaster beat Deathstroke
Depends on who has the preptime, imo.
If Taskmaster has time to study Slade, he wins, if Slade knows about Task's copying abilities he could blitz him down fast enough to avoid the learning process.
Dropped into a cage match with zero preptime for either of them, I think Slade takes it.
Really? Can't Taskmaster just remember previously remembered moves from Captain America, Hawkeye, and others by heart at this point?
Slade still has better base stats and a Healing factor
Since when?
since ever? It was part of the package that gave him that "using 90% of his brain" thing. That was the only way he won against Lawton in a gunfight in Villains United
He's still only limited by being just a really well-trained and athletic human. He can mimic moves but can't do anything overtly superhuman.
Do they count? I actually like how King brought back the Force of July.
>I actually like how King
no
He's not always bad!
All his capeshit stuff is terrible outside of that one Elmer Fudd mini. Stuff like Vision and Omega Men ended up being way worse in hindsight.
>outside of that one Elmer Fudd mini
Including that turd.
I did like how Young Justice animated show turned Sportsmaster into one of Deathstroke's peers. They made a goofy premise, ran with it, and made me take him somewhat seriously.
Didn't they eventually turn comic Sportsmaster into the show Sportsmaster?
I didn’t mind Sportsmaster’s update but I wish they kept his black handkerchief mask
I like the modified hockey mask better. It's sporty, intimidating, and certainly better than a football helmet
Wild Dog looks better with it
He moves pretty good for someone who’s 55 and 60. I do want to see Cheshire and Artemis beat him almost to death for destroying the family though
I liked the Body Doubles but they lose points for not having a consistent character design
PeaceMaker though dc is inconsistent on how he’s written: John Cena obnoxious loser PeaceMaker or stern murder machine peacemaker
Priestroke could have been good, but it sucked instead.
DC should do some miniseries where some MYSTERIOUS bad guy puts a hit out on Lex Luthor and every assassin , merc, hit man goes to metropolis to kill him and collect the 10 million dollars and superman has to spend the entire time protecting his arch enemy or something. 3 issues of wacky comedy
(the mysterious bad guy was lex himself for some oddly convoluted plot reason)
>(the mysterious bad guy was lex himself for some oddly convoluted plot reason)
Why do you need a reason more complex than "to frick with Superman"?
Let's hear it for some lesser known mercenaries
I like the merc version of Hobgoblin best, shame how he kept getting mistreated by writers who were basically yelling NOT MUH at him.
There is one who is the superior of all others, yes?
YEAHHHHHH
