Astaroth is Epic, but should I watch the anime?

Whats /m's opinions on Iron Blooded Orphans. Heard some people hate it. Has the dust settled and is it now liked? How is it regarded in Japan?

Astaroth doesn't appear in the IBO anime, it's from an axed spin-off manga that follows a different cast of characters.

That embarrassing. So is the manga worth or are they both luke warm? The designs are quite cool.

I believe is as G-witch: Another wasted potential. Not as bad as G-witch, but still enough to makes us seethe it wasn't better or done in another way.

    it's... not great
better than something like Destiny, but it was still a struggle to get through right from the start and didn't get any better over time. if anything, it got worse. And I honestly don't know if it was worth it. Well, at least there's Orga shitposting

Ibo is shit. I enjoyed the slower first half but the second half is absolutely trash and felt like a different writer took over with how everyons iq dropped in the cast.
The ms designs are sick though.

yeah im geeking out over the designs before Ive seen the anime. I fear having 3 of the kits and being a poser. Itll feel bad either way. Doom×2

IBO is hot garbage and /m/ is only pretending to like it because the latest series has a gay couple in it and it triggers all the moronic edgelords that came here a year or two ago.

      Wrong.
The moronic edgelords came here 3 or 4 years ago.

It’s really shitty but it has some cool designs here and there and the music is fantastic. It’s a bottom 5 Gundam for sure though

ibo is pretty decent. Not the best series but no where near as shitty as WFM. People just don't like that the MCs lost in the end.

Overall i liked it quite a lot. It *does* have a few major problems, tho.
It does break out of the usual mold in several ways, most prominently in the form of the main character finally being a hardened combat veteran who gives no fricks about killing. That's actually something that a vocal subset of the fanbase has been saying they wanted for years. Also the show places a lot more focus on grunt-level combat operations with the majority of the cast who are involved in battles using small tank-like vehicles and more thought-out battlefield tactics, another thing a good number of the fanbase have said is ususally missing from the wars in Gundam. Also the main character, in addition to being unconflicted about killing his enemies, is an absolute MONSTER in battle. More than anyone since the nickname was first applied to Amuro Rey, Mikazuki embodies the concept of the Gundam as "The White Devil". He's fast, savage, ruthless, and remoreseless.

On the other hand, the show has a lot of writing issues. Many episodes feel like spur of the moment decisions rather than being part of any sort of planned direction for the plot, like Akihiro suddenly remembering that he has a younger brother and mentioning this younger brother for the first time only five minutes before the cast runs across that younger brother purely by coincidence. The progress of the overall plot is also fairly slow as the framework is more episodic in dealing with individual small missions that, again, don't feel like they're part of a properly planned out plot.

Finally, the conclusion of the story is predicated by the team accepting a job from a man whose grand plan is completely irrational even by 80's cartoon standards. Imagine if Cobra Commander's big plan was to take the White House (and ONLY that) and assume that means he's won and the entire world would just do whatever he says from then on. The big plan in season 2 is THAT stupid.

But MAN it is fun to watch Mikazuki wreck shit.

Yeah I saw that bit with Masahiro, im at that exact episode.

Also speaking of the show, Mikazuki was nowhere near as emotionless as ive been lead to believe.

      >But MAN it is fun to watch Mikazuki wreck shit.
This is what I feel like the main draw of IBO really is. Watching Mika in the Barbatos systematically tear through a regimented organization is great fun.

Just watch an episode or two and if it doesn't spark joy drop it. Jesus this isn't hard.
