Piccolo sees himself as a warrior and the reincarnation of the demon king. He tells it like it is and the doc taught a Saiyan to get instincts. I guess you can say that merging with Nail and Kami made him compassionate, but he goes to hell in GT cause peace is boring and the bad guys are in hell. Even Shenron gives him more power in Super sensing the Demon King wants his power restored out of fear Jr will bust out the mouth blasts. It seems to be working cause Pan's teacher like him.

That's Toei Piccolo. Toei Piccolo is the number 2 guy who protects earth. It's more evident in the Garlic Jr saga where he scams the villain by pretending to be possessed and tricks him into fighting Gohan just to buy time. Toriyama Piccolo is just a magic based warrior who fears Saiyans, Freiza, and Cell have more destructive power than him.

Yamcha was too relatable to be a villain. He wanted to beat Goku and use the Dragonballs to get himself a woman or spread Bulma's legs open. He's just stuck as a hero cause Bulma is a turbo prostitute who drains the vitality of villains. If he remained a villain, he would've become like Vegeta and sold himself to an evil for a power up

Goku doesn't like killing when his opponent is clearly outclassed. Tao, King Piccolo, Buu, and Raditz were all at or above his level when he faced them. The others, as you say, were situations where his hand was forced. Nappa was outclassed and crippled in front of him; he was no longer a threat in Goku's eyes. From the fact that he has killed literally nobody himself but buu since growing up/the 23rd budokai. And since the cell games he's grown perpetually more moronic by allowing villains a chance to live or fight at full power or what the frick ever despite knowing that billions of peoples' lives are at stake which overrules when he was more practical and down to earth about finishing the job like with raditz. Hell, even during saiyan saga he told Krillin to spare vegeta for no good reason but at least then he accepted he was being a selfish fricking butthole for the sake of WAKU WAKU and had a (flawed) moral reason to not snip gero in the bud.
      >but freeza

Goku has the excuse of training with God who taught him that all life was sacred and King Kai giving him the Spirit Bomb to smite evil. He doesn't discard his civilized powers like telepathy and Kaioken until he gets Super Saiyan, which makes him evil.

Also, Goku tried to kill Cell. It's just that when he starts blowing up the planet, or showing rage, Chi Chi gets scared and submissive. I guess he was moronic because Japan didn't like how Goku became a stern authority figure with high expectations to surpass him.

Batman not killing or using a gun made sense when you considered that he was deputized by the police. If the police had a giant searchlight to summon a vigilante who had carte blanche to kill, that would be really bad. Batman's ultimately more interesting with a strong moral code than a cold callus killing machine.

I am reminded of that story when it was revealed that Clayface basically resets back to when he first became clayface when his brain is destroyed and so never could properly develop. That was until he stayed stable long enough to be redeemed and actually joined the bad family for a time, then they found a cure for him but it wasn't permanent and he was going to revert back in the middle of the city streets. So the Majority of the Batfamily stood by as Cass tried to calm him down. Then Batwoman took matters into her own hands and downed Clayface with a gun "killing" him and undoing all the work Bruce and the Family had done.
Then because she did that Batwoman was basically kicked out of the Batfamily
So redeeming can work but it requires patience.
Hell even Joker is dependent on Bruce being Batman to act as the Joker most of the time.

for the record, it’s so easy to fix this problem with batman, you just need to he a half-competent writer, watch

    >”I know what I’m like. What I’m capable of. If I start killing, I’m not going to be able to stop. You think Riddler is bad? Clayface? Imagine a version of me that’s willing to put a permanent end to every bit of filth he finds in the city. Besides, it’s not just me. Think of what I represent, what citizens see in me. If I set the precedent that killing undesirables is acceptable, how many innocent people will be murdered by others in my name? Gotham is a powder-keg, and I refuse to be the spark that sets it alight.

    Or, alternatively

    >This is strategy, not kindness. I’ve thought this through. Gotham is volatile. Fragile. But, right now, everything has structure. If I start disturbing the ecosystem, hundreds of thousands could die. Joker is evil, but he’s organized evil. The power struggle that’d result from his death would tear the whole city to shreds. The maniacs in his crew only listen to him. Without that direction, there’s nothing they wouldn’t be willing to do to take his spot, and it’d be Gotham’s citizens that’d get caught in the crossfire. Gotham needs reform, not more dead bodies to spur on the cycle or violence.

    or even

    >If the people of Gotham want someone dead, they should re-institute the death penalty and vote for their execution. It’s not my call, it’s not my decision to make. The moment I start deciding who lives and dies, I cease to be a protector and start to be a tyrant.

And you can't do anything about it because I'm rich and I can just buy your house, bulldoze it and build a taco stand on the rubble if you complain. I'm rich, b***h, I can do whatever I want.
