There's plenty of dumb things to make fun of in Marvel, but if you accept that both gods and aliens exist in that universe it seems perfectly acceptable, if not expected, that there would be some overlap in the way civilizations perceived them. Not at all strange that one society would encounter literal gods and correctly interpret them as gods while another encounters aliens and incorrectly interprets them as gods.
