It just feels off. The costumes, the way everything is framed and staged like said. The child actors you can already tell are going to suck as well, especially Kataras. The thing is, the bar is set so low with the prior movie and fanbase is absolutely rabid for any content at all that it'll be huge even if it's shit. Hope it's not shit though.
>Second trailer did poorly.
I wondered this too. First trailer got like 20 million views, and the second got 4 million. What happened? Does that happen for other Netflix trailers? I'm scared ATLA bros
It did start production two months before covid I think?
that said if the term you're looking for is awkward I quite agree with you but at the same time I dont see how you can make a show completely faithful to TLA without having the most expensive budget ever with bending fights and scenarios alone.
And speaking about that, the concept of making the whole show but irl seems pretty pointless to me like most horror remakes but whatever.
Can't speak for anyone else, but what killed this entire idea for me was the fact that they are attempting to remake the animated series. TLA has set up the potential to tell a lot of different and new stories besides Aangs. Korra wasn't that great, but it had an episode telling the story of the first ever avatar and how humans were able to bend. That was good shit.
If they insist on making a live action avatar series, they could have done any time period, before or after aang, with a new original character that could be the avatar, with new original side characters and a new story that isn't a quest to learn all the elements. It could be live action and actually do well because there wouldn't be as much comparisons to the source material. People won't be able to criticize characters and actors not behaving or resembling like the cartoon counterparts because again, it's not trying to remake anything.
It's like the problem with Star Wars. There's massive potential and lore to tell any kind of story they want, however they want, yet everything has to revolve around the skywalkers. Netflix could have made any story they wanted, slapped the "Avatar" name on it, and get the already built in fan base to watch it.

Everything is looking way WAY better than expected, especially after the M Night bullshit

Obvious bait. The movie was terrible, just horrible, and this series is already leagues ahead of it.
Hahaha I know the exact gameplan you're doing, as a shill. They are horrified by any comparisons to Night's movie. They want to pretend it never existed. Your paycheck depends on it.

But WE ARE comparing it to the movie, in the sense that it's way better than the movie.

This is what schizos actually believe.
Because simply being a fan of a better remake is too outlandish somehow.
>Everything is looking way WAY better than expected, especially after the M Night bullshit
It really doesn't. It's like compared solid shit to diarrhea.
I'm very hyped, and a 2nd trailer is always going to have less hype and attention than the first trailer.
It looks amazing and people who doubt it are racists or coping.
Raceswapped? No they weren't all white characters in the original cartoon.
The fire benders were clearly Asian themed, the airbenders clearly tibet monk themed, the waterbenders clearly eskimo themed.
get real and cope.
This remake is cast very well and I'm a white man who grew up with the original
They release a book akin to the Fire & Blood in the ASOIAF universe that covers various novellas and world building in the ATLA universe.
For example:
We have zero idea what the surname of Zuko's, Katara's or Kuei's families are. Who are these royal houses and dynasties?
After that have a prequel series, maybe one set sometime in the 100 Year War. I would suggest the conquering of the Western lands like Gaipan.
I stand by the Tolkien model that when LOTR ended, there should be nothing that ever is produced afterwards, but you could produce thousands of prequel stuffs.
>"hErE's HoW iT sHuLd HaVe GoNE" >*lists moronic ideas that the wildly successful and praised original did NOT do*
No. You're a tard and this remake is doing exactly what it should. Copying the formula of the original tale with beautiful choreography and action scenes.
Frick off you failed tryhard film student.
because re-imagining perfectly told stories of the original is bound to result in a worse story especially with how creatively bankrupt most writers are today.
because even "poor CGI" (which it's not) is much nicer and more exciting to look at for TLA fans than rewatching the same cartoon scenes for the 100th time.
its poor, your sense of quality CGI just got obliterated by decade of watching MCU and DCEU slops
go watch first Transformers, Way of Water. Terminator 2 to cure yourself from being a moron
Trailer was very badly directed and edited >Aang your are special >But i dont want to be special >... >Yeah, im special >dun dun duuuuun!
Its as we saw Aang's character arc of the season in 2 minutes.
Its fricking moronic decision.
Trailer should have make audience question what choice Aang would make.
Instead the trailer have already gave us the answer.
it was perfect due to the perfect storytelling and artistic presentation, which are things that can be achieved through live action as well.
The original wasn't perfect simply due to using drawn.
Cope, seeth, and dilate in that order.
Until I see an example of eastern martial arts blending perfectly with elemental telekinetic superpowers, in live action, I don't believe you, we're not there yet, frick off.
>an example of eastern martial arts blending perfectly with elemental telekinetic superpowers
I witnessed just that in the latest trailer, so not sure what you're talking about, but okay, angry boy.
Didn't even know there was a second trailer, and if I didn't most people didn't either.
Anyway, if we want to nitpick, then that dialogue in the second trailer "Remember what it is we're really fighting for, the ones we love" is something corny I don't remember being in the show, so the oc stuff might be stupid.
ANYWAYS I heard the creators quit the Netflix adaptation, anyone know why because it looks good and faithful atm/
At this point, has any animation successfully transitioned to live action to the point that it surpassed the source material in popularity and quality? I feel like it's been tried over and over but nothing ever really stuck.
>has any animation successfully transitioned to live action to the point that it surpassed the source material in popularity and quality?
Yes but not American made.
Despite her body looking okay, her face is chunky.
Not really fitting for a character who is supposed to be ultra athletic and acrobatic.
But I'll let it slide.
Bad acting is hardly a nitpick.
They're children as you said. Why expect perfect acting? The voice acting of the original wasn't anything to write home about.
>They're children as you said. Why expect perfect acting?
Not an excuse. >The voice acting of the original wasn't anything to write home about.
You're legitimately a braindead moron and a tasteless moron if you think the original VAs could've been replaced with any other kid instead of a trained actor.

Thanks for admitting you either didn't watch the Shamallama disaster or you didn't watch the Netflix trailer.
Or admitting you're blind.
Yet another piece of television that doesn't need to be adapted or remade. The orginal said everything that needed to be said. Go watch the original series. Stop enabling the destruction of the culture by falling for this nostalgia-exploiting bullshit.
The problem with your argument is that I have watched the original. Way too many fricking times and I don't want to watch it for the 37th time.
I want my LITERALLY favorite show in the entire world given a visual upgrade.
Would it have been a better idea to simply remake it scene for scene with better quality animation and effects, yes probably, but I'll take anything at this point.
What you want is just destroying art. Learn to not overwatch things you've already seen. A "visual update" is menaingless and is guaranteed to be ruined by woke bullshit or other stupid changes.
Oh so you're one of those morons who believes a new piece of media existing can "destroy" an older piece of media.
Guess what? They'll both exist simultaneously.
Even if the remake turns out to be subpar, I'm still glad they're trying to give the fans something interesting with some upgraded visuals especially if the story is identical because the original was perfection.
Why try to damper that?
NTA, but the other guy has it right. Raping all of the good parts of everyone's childhood will never be good. Its not good today, it won't be good tomorrow. These properties were decent because they came out before the complete destruction of culture and hope in the world. Re-doing them in (Current Year) will only ever make them worse.
Daily reminder that anything that came out after 2008 or so is subject to the 'automatically shit' rule. No exceptions.
Again how is a remake going to "destroy" or "rape" the original?
The original will still exist for everyone including myself to enjoy.
I just want something more exciting to look at when being told the same story.
It's akin to buying the same storybook with better artwork. The original will still exist, you dolt.

The raceswapped a bunch of characters
There's zero fricking white people in the trailer unlike the show where almost everyone is white
First post bait post.
Too many ugly actors
Avatar fans were mostly coomers expecting too see Katara’s panties or something
huh?
Bad staging. Every shot with Daniel Dae Kim is horribly composed like a school play with an expensive CG background.
It just feels off. The costumes, the way everything is framed and staged like said. The child actors you can already tell are going to suck as well, especially Kataras. The thing is, the bar is set so low with the prior movie and fanbase is absolutely rabid for any content at all that it'll be huge even if it's shit. Hope it's not shit though.
my kids 6-10 love Avatar and will rewatch random eps any day of the week, you are seriously braindead if you think only 30+ like this show
i wish you and your kids the best. not an avatar fan but having a good day and wanted to send good vibes
are you mental breaking down at how popular it is?
mental breakdown is not a verb ESL.
>let's make a live action series based on a show that was popular with children who are now in their mid-to-late 30s
What could possibly go wrong?
its going to be massive mate, just accept it
ATLA has maintained incredible cultural relevance. The fanbase is still massive. If anything it's probably bigger than it ever was.
Insane loners spamming forums?
This shit's worse than Ahsoka
Lmao
MEDS!
Nobody wants or likes these live-action adaptations

the casting reminds people of covid too much. no one wants to remember all that lockdown bs.

Why are costume designers getting lazier? Everything is too new and clean
wasn't enough suki in the trailer

where can i watch this?

Monk Gyatso has a good voice, Aang sounds like a little girl though.
