There were going to be multiple monsters along the journey to Atlantis, but they were cut for pacing reasons since it was taking too long to get to the city.
If Disney wants to keep making their live action movies, they should take things like Atlantis and Treasure Planet which could benefit from an extra 45-80 minutes of runtime instead of movies that are already fully formed like Lion King and Snow White. You could do Atlantis as a There and Back Again two part movie separating the journey and the Island portions, same with Treasure Planet, and both would be a visual feast.
That was Shrek 2. In fact, Shrek 2 is an overrated, boring, unfunny, outdated, visually unappealing and a vapid piece of garbage with horrendous characters like Fairy Godmother, the only good thing is puss in boots, the rest is trash, one of the worst Dreamworks/PDI efforts ever.
Well Jikmy Neutron was an independently produced feature outside the normal Hollywood complex showing the potential of 3d animation outside the major animation studioes. While Atlantis was a better film narratively and artistically it still was a major box office failure and didn't represent a smaller studio that the Oscars could push to show how much they "care" about the art of filmmaking all over.
Frick no. Atlantis may be a gorgeous action-adventure with a fun cast and one of Disney's most chilling villains, but at least JNBG is coherent and has Aaron Carter.
I loved both of these. Having now seen Nadia I don't they are as similar as I was led to believe. I mean obviously a lot in common but not that much of a rip off.
Very much this, they both borrow heavily from extremely basal concepts within science fiction as a whole. But that doesn't fuel east vs west debates so people conveniently ignore that.
They love to point out how Atlantis stole from either Nadia or Laputa, but never argue that either Jap property stole from the other. Then again, suggesting that all of these pulled from works that influenced the Nazi regime might not be good optics.
This. There are a few similarities (Milo and Jean look really similar), but story and characters are so vastly different, I don't think Gainax would have stood a chance if they had tried to sue Disney. We can always chalk it up to coincidence, like the weird Denis the Menace situation.

Atlantis is far more similar to Stargate than Nadia and even then it's hardly a ripoff
I like that they keep the treasure in the end, instead of getting then losing it, or worse, having a corny moment where they realize they don't need the treasure.
>What do you think about Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water?
I really want to watch it but do not want to pirate it. It is on Tubi but they put it behind a paywall. I hear that it has a 14 episode arc in Africa that is the worst thing ever produced. Is the show actually worth watching? For the record, Evangelion is my favorite anime and I even enjoy the rebuilds.
My favorite anime is Evangelion. I can't really say a favorite western cartoon, I guess I'd be boring and say Avatar the Last Airbender if I had to name one. I used to really like Dexter's Lab, PPG and that era of Cartoon Network.
I am not afraid to pirate it, I just don't think it's worth the disc space because I hear it's not that good. From what I've read, nadia isn't worth pirating because how much of the show is filler/garbage Africa arc.
Since when does Tubi have a paywall?
They have a paywall for a subsection of Tubi called "Retro Anime" they hid Nadia behind. It also has Urusei Yatsura movies and some other 90s and 80s stuff.
>I am not afraid to pirate it, I just don't think it's worth the disc space because I hear it's not that good
You can always delete the folder and the torrent if you don't like it. Anyway I haven't watched it so idk.
I would say, yes, it's very much worth watching, there is a weird slump arc about some of the cast ending up on a deserted island, travelling to Africa and a clip show before it gets back on track but I personally didn't mind it, it developed the characters some and certain things wouldn't make sense without the arc (like Red Noah would just come out of nowhere if you skipped it). Though there are a couple episodes where the animation quality really drops and Nadia herself really tests your patience at times (apparently even some of the animators grew to hate her)

I don't think its a bad movie, and I don't think Disney was so deliberate in their feminization of the main character. But I do agree with your critiques. I never thought about it before, but Milo really is a lame main character. He'd make a great secondary main character, like Cyclops to Wolverine, or James Spader's character in Stargate to Kurt Russel's. But having him as some sort of smart/cool fusion really makes him weak and undefined. Poorly written character, I think some Black folk on this site might call him a "Harry Stu" or something like that.
I fricking love this movie.
Turn of the century pulp adventuring with a touch of dieselpunk. One of my favorite genres.
Oh, and the scene when the giants awoke was a god tier cinematic moment. I am glad I was able to watch that movie in a cinema.
Nadia was a great TV show aside form the made-cheaply-because-our-studio-burnt-down eps that killed the pacing and depicted Nadia as more b***hy than she was in other eps. It would be more loved if not for that.
Atlantis was a great movie that deserved more love, but just didn't seem to find the audience that would have loved it.
It's good
the movie should had focused more on the journey, , instead of a twist villain the leviathan chasing them would be the threat
There were going to be multiple monsters along the journey to Atlantis, but they were cut for pacing reasons since it was taking too long to get to the city.
The whole movie feels pretty rushed anyway.
It's something that would have benefitted from the streaming series format.

I like it. Makes me wish Disney did more animated adventure movies.
Like Strange World, anon?
weird how Milo's face was rendered for these when it looks so different from how he looked in the movie.
You think it should've been nominated for that first Best Animated Feature academy award instead of Jimmy Neutron?
Quints beg to agree.
Frick CGI movies.
Shrek deserved to win
Shrek ruined American animated features.
Yeah, but it was still a good movie.
>Doubt
have a nice day 2Dgay, your medium is dead because you couldn't come up with nothing but mediocre films during the time when 3D films were blowing up
That was Shrek 2. In fact, Shrek 2 is an overrated, boring, unfunny, outdated, visually unappealing and a vapid piece of garbage with horrendous characters like Fairy Godmother, the only good thing is puss in boots, the rest is trash, one of the worst Dreamworks/PDI efforts ever.
t. Sharktaleanon
Giga-Satan says so
I'm fully convinced Jimmy only got nominated to better facilitate that "CGI characters in the audience waiting to hear who won" gag at the show.
Sorry that for one year Disney's shittiest movie didn't win the fake Oscar that they made up to give to themselves every year
>Disney's shittiest movie
I am no Atlantis fan, but it is far from their worst compared to Home on the Range.
That was the first Best Animated Film award. Disney bought out the category later.

Some minor visual coincidences does not a rip off make. Next you're gonna make the moronic claim that the Lion King ripped off Kimba
This movie kind of sucks. I know it has positives and anons saw it when they were 9 but the plot is just a flatline
Atlantis was damn good, i still need to watch nadia.
Laputa but lame

Why does Kida get zero representation in Disney parks or in merch?
Honestly one of the better scores in the Disney animated Canon. The music during the crystal chamber sequence is beautiful.

How the frick do you even watch cartoons/anime if you are afraid to pirate it? You will never get to watch at least 50% of all the awesome stuff.

Ruby Gillman (a movie made by Dreamworks btw) was a massive box office bomb, so they are already tired.
I wish I had a submarine.

I always read the finger crossing as more of a "Please don't frick up" gesture.
