Went to the cinema with 2 of them, and we got more than we expected. Certainly we got the best blockbuster in the last decade.

Why don't you go ask Avatar fans in their general? I assume it's there because I filtered it when I first saw it. I understand why those people like it (because they're autistic and something about Avatar appeals to them) but I don't really understand why normalgays went to watch it. They'll watch pretty much anything so one of two things happened
    >the profit numbers are fake
    but equally likely
    >it was heavily marketed and normies went to watch it because they saw it being promoted everywhere
Probably the latter. They were told to watch it and they did. The actual quality doesn't matter.

I don't know a single person who saw Avatar 2. After all the Captain Marvel shitposting I'm surprised no one has suggested Cameron bought the tickets himself.

There was plenty to talk about. And it's been discussed to death for three months. There's only so many times you can have the same conversation and pick apart a three hour movie in the same ways. There's not much to do now besides wait for the next movie and speculate on what will happen to the characters and story

Did Avatar 2 have new fancy 3D? That's the only reason I watched the first one.

I always disliked 3D, but I thought it was pretty nice in Avatar 2. It was subtle and made it more immersive in a way

It looked great with the marine setting
Not obnoxious like some titles, for the most part just put you in the scene

I wish there were more scenes set on Earth. They could make a side mini-series just for fans to explore the setting that doesn't have to go to theaters like they did with Animatrix

sure, but that's like 5-6 years away if it doesn't get delayed. It'd be nice to have something in the mean time. Maybe they could put it in an Avatar game

Have there really been five confirmed? I'd only heard it was going to be a trilogy

Is there a non troll reason explaining this? The movies each made a shit ton of money but you never hear them talked about outside of talking about how much money they made.

My personal enjoyment and happy memories aside, they're basically tech demos with OK stories and little cultural substance
Plus the pace of mainstream film turnover they don't have much staying power

              >The Quest for Eywa
But Eywa's right there in the fibreoptic trees

                Anonymous

I think the current speculation is that Eywa is going to either be killed or disappear due to actions by the humans and/or Quaritch as he is going to team up with evil Na'vi in the next film. So the good guys may have to use a seed of Eywa to revive her or they could take a seed to Earth and start a new Eywa that would restore Earth's environment and beauty.

The killing eywa thing seems like an addition by yourself, because i’ve only heard that kiri is going to deliver a part of eywa to earth.

                Anonymous

Both are speculation. Just as much as Kiri going to earth is. Literally no one knows what the actual story will be and it may not even be fully fleshed out even. Just repeating what has been talked about and guess about in previous threads.

Eywa's the most interesting part of the world for me, would be cool for them to explore it more
So far the best we've got was Kiri's vision
Wonder why Eywa pulled Augustine away?

1 was only a smashing success cause it happened to come out RIGHT in the middle of the 3d fad, plus there weren't many enviornmental scifantasy flicks at that time like there were in the 90s and early 00s. 2 was only a hit because everything is about legacies in this era of shit cinema, plus 80% of that 2.3B is just pajeets and bugmen who will watch anything with WOOSH WOOOOH

The bigger question is why do people (assuming women are people) actually like Titanic?

      >The bigger question is why do people (assuming women are people) actually like Titanic?
I saw it when it rereleased, and thought it was good. The romance was sweet, but seeing that disaster come to life was really engrossing. It's sad to imagine how the real life event was

I just said it the first one was a hit because 3d shit was all the rage back in 2009, 2 just piggybacked off that success especially since Hollywood panders to pajeets and bugmen now

Similar to how ET became a "timeless classic" because israeliteberg refused to release it on VHS until 10 years after it came out

Avatar: Amazing 3D with great effects and serviceable hero's journey story set in unique sci-fi setting with references to gods in us.
Avatar 2: The most expensive save the whales documentary thinly veiled as a sequel to a cool action movie.

I love whales. I love Avatar 1. I love sci-fi. I love Cameron's movies. Avatar 2 is mediocre. It feels rushed in the interesting parts and focuses on the uninteresting slog. The message feels forced. It's the worst Cameron movie to date.
