AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY Leaks

From insider Daniel Richtman.

>The original script by Jeff Loveness featured the Council of Kangs attacking Earth-616, and the protagonists of the Multiverse Saga (Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Captain America, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch, Shang-Chi, Hulk, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Photon, Moon Knight and Daredevil) assembling to stop them. Thor would not have been included.

>Loveness’ draft actually didn’t include the Multiverse much. It started with the Kangs attacking and conquering Earth in a matter of hours, with the survivors joining forces to assault their fortress before their continued presence causes an universe-ending incursion. Spider-Man and Doctor Strange were the main characters like Captain America and Iron Man were in the Infinity Saga.

>Loveness was fired because Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania flopped, not because Marvel is moving away from Kang. Michael Waldron is writing a new script which features the Multiverse more heavily and has a stronger connection with Avengers: Secret Wars, which Waldron is also writing. Kang will still be the main villain, played by a new actor.

          >the Tenet guy
          >playing some sort of supervillain
...are they casting based on meme logic about what the actor's last role was? Because I cannot see that guy as a supervillain, at all.

Frick I would've accepted them retconning the High Evolutionary into a Kang variant on vacation and using him instead, his performance was great.

I really don't get what they were going for his character in Quantumania. It felt like they wanted to have their cake and eat it by having this "irredeemable ambitious villain" but also giving him this weird platonic pining for Janet as well as an allusion to him thinking he's the only one who can save the multiverse. For someone who talks big about crushing Avengers like ants and conquering worlds, he sure seems broken up over some random woman turning on him.

It's like Jonathan Majors was given stage directions to act like Thanos (because people liked Thanos) with Janet as his Gamora every couple of lines.

He was basically just Thanos again "ambitious and powerful cosmic villain who has a kinder side when it comes to certain personal relationships but is ultimately irredeemable"

          Anonymous

I do feel they were TRYING to distinguish him from Thanos a little by making him seem more ambition-driven at the start, but yeah they did Kang a disservice by being too cowardly or uncreative go move outside their comfort zone.

People like to politicise these movies but my biggest complaint about the latter phases is that they're clearly being written more by marketing teams than actual creatives.

It feels like MCU is too afraid of making villains who are TOO inhuman so they try to humanize them in some ways often to the character's detriment.
It seems like only James Gunn is willing to go out and make villains who are just scary and scummy.

            Anonymous

Unfortunately the design-by-committee way the MCU is run seems to have taught them absolutely nothing about what James Gunn did right, and just that they needed someone even "whackier" (Taika) to helm their movies.

the only Marvel shows I've watched were a few seasons of Agents of SHIELD and the first Cloak and Dagger, I am so lost I will never catch up

You are missing absolutely nothing of value, and even if you want to catch up on any of the movies that come after Endgame I suggest you do so only after a few pints. Makes them easier to enjoy.

So you have no idea who Ravonna is?

I don't give a shit about the comics for the purposes of discussing the MCU. Guess what, Hela isn't Odin's daughter and Dormammu is generally depicted as a fiery headed elemental guy and not a fricking universe-eater who makes Galactus look underwhelming by comparison until he pulls out the Ultimate Nullifier. The movie had ever opportunity to establish what was need-to-know about Kang, and didn't bother with his love life so until proven otherwise it's nonexistent. In the context of Quantumania, I'm saying it makes zero sense. And in the context of the wider MCU, as far as we know Ravonna Renslayer has never been Kang's squeeze.

          >people crossing between universes results in an incursion that eventually destroys one or more universe
they could have Loki countering it as an excuse

Don't buy it. Loki is "merely" doing the work of the Loom as far as we know, and Incursions by non-Kangs were apparently a problem even back when the Loom was working properly and the Kangs were safely retconned out of existence.

Didn't black panther die in real life and in the movie? Sounds like bullshit and who the frick is proton

      >in real life and in the movie?
Yes, Black Panther 2 is essentially a very big budget funeral for Chadwick Boseman despite him going on record as saying he'd be fine with the role being recast. He even dies of an unspecified offscreen disease at the start of the movie which apparently advanced Wakandan technology can't cure.

      >who the frick is Photon
The MCU's superhero name for Monica Rambeau, who is currently stuck in the X-Men's universe due to falling through a hole in the multiverse caused by a jump point (those hexagonal grids you see warping people around space in the Guardians movies) malfunctioning.

      ...
...in theory that means SHE risks causing an Incursion to the X-Men's universe.

    >Kangs conquered the multiverse
    >But MoM also established people crossing between universes results in an incursion that eventually destroys one or more universe
    >Also Wanda is clearly delusional and corrupted by the Darkhold-NOPE, actually she's totally write about every dream you've ever had being a thing that happened in an alternate universe
    >So either Kangs have/had tech which lets them get around that (He Who Remains just kind of hangs out at the end of time which...doesn't say a lot) or they're willing to destroy themselves to conquer one planet??
    >Presumably No Way Home solved that by sending all the Spider-Man villains home on short notice?
    >What about America Chavez?
    >How do things like Ghost Rider's spirit of vengeance and Dormammu fit into all of this bullshit?
The more they explain about the multiverse, the more questions are raised.

good, I never thought they should drop Kang just because of Quantumania or the actor misbehaving.

      >Ultimate universe

I was going to complain that many canon members were replaced and nor are they supposed to be THAT incompetent, but you know what? On second thought, the Illuminati ARE so incompetent even in the comics that I don't actually think Captains Carter and Rambeau even change anything about what goofy goober frickups they are.

Black person they were super fricking incompetent, they had absolutely no plan to take her down because of residual trauma from dealing with Dr. Strange making them fixate on him instead.

That and she was posessing the body of their universe's version of Wanda, who they seemed to know as a nice woman and mother so they were hesitant in immediately eliminating her.

Yeah, unfortunately the new main villain's gimmick is that he's supposedly the best time traveller in the whole multiverse and his variants are going to start a time war with the potential to end all of existence with Incursions so. It only gets worse.

Daredevil's biggest crime is that it paved way for all the other Netflix shit which was either mediocre (Luke Cage) or straight-up awful (Jessica Jones, Iron Fist). If it existed in a vacuum, I'd enjoy it a lot more.
