All the scenes with David are good.
I like his spooky Frankenstein castle.
I also think the Med Bay scene is good despite it being kind of goofy.
And the music score is good.

I think it falls apart in the last third though.

    Who where they?

A group of aliens that were seeded on the planet by the Engineers just like humans were.

But why did they get the docking thingy and the humans didn't?

The Engineers stopped visiting Earth after we crucified Jesus. They saw us as horrible and barbaric and were planning to kill us.

I'm assuming they destroyed all the docking stations at that point.

I vaguely remember something about them using LV-223 in Prometheus as a launching ground for their weapon to attack Earth before it was taken out by the black goo or whatever, but what about the rest of the species? Did they just forget about killing all humans?

Who knows. I'm sure we would've gotten some answers if Ridley was allowed to finish his trilogy and there wasn't so much studio meddling.
Prometheus is the perfect example of fans not knowing what they want and studios being afraid of taking risks.

Also Damon Lindelof should not be allowed to touch anything. The original Prometheus script is better than his edit of it.

They've always wanted Aliens part 2.

Aliens Part 2 is literally Alien Resurrection and it's fricking awful in every way.
A bunch of HUH RAH marines up against xenomorphs isn't that interesting.

No, it's proto Firefly. They want something closer to Starship Troopers.

It's literally the most kino entry in the franchise since the original. Covenant makes Aliens look like a braindead flick.

Not by any stretch of the imagination. David is the only reason this isn't completely worthless.

I always liked Prometheus and Covenant as sci-fi space exploration movies. In that sense they are quite well made, if you discard all the stupidity from being part of the alien franchise.

Based. The real problem with the alien movies is that they keep messing with the origin story of the xenos

        Anonymous

Does their origin even need to be explained?

          Anonymous

That's the problem. The Prometheus and Covenant try to do exactly that.

Ehh, Prometheus was a pretty movie with a confusing script. Fassbender was the highlight. To me it was enough that the xenomorph is a weird parasitic alien species that we don't know much about and that humans try to weaponize for some unfathomable reason? Would the xenomorph even be useful in conventional warfare?

              Anonymous

Imagine dropping a bunch of xeno eggs on enemy territory. They could easily take unprepared soldiers until they learn how to fight them

                Anonymous

Yeah, but what is the cost-benefit ratio of xenos bioweapons? War is expensive as hell.

                Anonymous

Xenos dont eat, they dont sleep and they do it for free. They are perfect bioweapon material

                Anonymous

Yes, they have obvious advantages. However, their life cycle makes their utilisation harder. What's the successful implantation ratio for a face hugger? How many of the chestbursters will then survive to grow into full-fledged xenomorphs? As far as I know, they died to gunfire like humans do. The xenomorphs are at their most effective at space stations and poorly defended colonies, but as a weapon they seem to be very unreliable and dangerous to their supposed owners.

That's what I'm saying though, both films would've been better if they didn't try to explain the origins of the Xeno. They could've easily been interesting films about the Engineers and David, instead we get moronic rehashes of the Alien films while overcomplicating their origins.

          It's a 8/10 at minimum.

No but Ridley can do what he wants. Prometheus and Covenant are unironically the two most interesting Alien movies to discuss.

I honestly couldn't stand the slapstick Rube Goldberg sequences like the Neopmorph hatching scene and how it somehow caused everyone to kill themselves without even trying. Shit felt like a moronic dark comedy, and unintentionally so.

I like this scene but I get why people don't
        They are incredibly incompetent

          Anonymous

It's one thing to show their incompetence (the girl freaking out and not opening the door), it's another to script the sequence where it becomes borderline comedic (actually deciding to open the door when the alien is already loose, both girls slipping on the blood like morons etc.)

I always wondered what the frick came out of his back with the alien and I only just now realized it pulled his brain out with his spine.

prometheus and AC were annoying as frick, both should have been much better. David was great but making him an out and out villain was boring.

You are plebs of the highest order and enemies of cinema if you think that matters at all and effects the quality of the movie.
