>Azula was replaced with an Asian actress
>Korra was replaced with an Indigenous actress
Are they finally admitting they messed with the original show's casting?

Why do I get the feeling that had the M Night. Shamalan film come out now people would avidly be defending the Fire Nation being played by Indians as a wonderful inclusion of diversity rather than the moronic choice it was?
I mean, it was the least moronic choice in the movie.
>currywashing a whole nation of characters in such a way that it reinforces the "villains are brown and heroes are fair skinned" stereotype is the "least moronic" choice
M. Night, is that you?
At least we had some representation. The cartoon had an even whiter cast than the movie
The guy from Slumdog Millionaire was the hottest shit at the time
Not even talking about mispronouncing the literal most important character's name, not putting budget into having firebending and earthbending be interesting on the screen and being worsened really brought fans out of the movie.
I still appreciate the fact that he called out for the overly white casting on the source material
Cinemaphile would say the sokka and katara being white is based and redpilled and how it's how they should've been in the first place
Sadly they would only have to point to the original cartoon.
Why did they have so many white people voicing Asians and Natives?
If the M.Night film came out now people would be defending it as "a good film" and calling anyone criticizing it "haters who care too much about a kids cartoon"
They would be right
At this point pretty much EVERYONE is (rightly) racist against pajeets, so no that wouldn't happen.
No? Maybe in whatever racist echo chamber where you live.
ok patel whatever you say
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DO NOT REDEEEEM THE ECLIIIIIIIPSE! I WEL NOT GET DE FIREBENDING NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>Fire nation very obviously japanese coded in an allegory of the japanese imperialistic invasion of asia (Water tribe: eskimo, earth: chinese, air: tibetan) at the beginning of the 20th century
>Casts them as indian
Why?
I mean Korra was already a disappointment in very way but Grey MADE Azula who she was.
You should have a nice day now
Janet Varney made the right decision. She has no business voicing non white characters
>they
Shyamalan made Katara white because her billionaire dad paid for it. And if Katara was white, everyone else in the water tribe had to be white. The fire nation was Indian because he had already changed the waterbenders, and the first person to do a passable audition for Zuko was brown, so Shyamalan cemented that in his mind (the first guy didn’t get the role). Aang was white because the closest 14 year old black belt they could get was white. Racebending is a powerful element, but ol’ Mr Night Sham wasn’t using it. He was just incompetent and lacked any desire to make a faithful adaptation.
>Azula was replaced with an Asian actress
Azula is Asian, why wouldn’t an Asian actress play her?
Right? Why was a white b***h voicing her?
I don't see anyone complaining over a black guy voicing a samurai.
Need an actual Japanese man to voice Samurai Jack. That black man can go frick off and play a black character.
Why does it matter?
Can ask you the same question. Why does Samurai Jack need to be voice by Phil LaMarr. Based on Phil LaMarr's own statement, an actual minority like a Japanese man should be voice a Japanese character like Samurai Jack.
See
Phil Lamarr doesn't have white privlege?
He's black, that gives him carte blanche to voice whoever he wants and you can't complain about it.
Of course I can. I am not white and what Phil LaMarr is doing is taking away a potential opportunity from a Japanese man.
Instead he have black privilege. See
There's a Latina who sounds like Janet Varney. There's no Japanese guy who sounds like Phil Lamarr.
Phil Lamar doesn't sounds like a japanese person.
What's it matter what race someone's voice actor is
Sokka was replaced with a white fraud claiming indigenous ancestry.
Still more thing than his cracker ass
>Latina
She's indigenous and Asian moron. Sokka and Katara still haven't been replaced voice wise
>Latina
>She's indigenous and Asian
>in response to talking about Korra's new voice actress
I feel like I'm trying to debate the special ed team with this dipshit

>replaced
I don't think white people know what that word actually means
They think they were owed voice roles just because they were white
>They think they were owed voice roles just because they were white
Entitled to them even. Through some sorta... privilege
Why specify white?
Why focus on that single word out of the many that were said?
NTA but this is so fricking gay.
You misspelled Based
Nah Mae Whitman was the perfect voice for Katara
No I'm talking about nonwhite actors reclaiming their rightful roles. Why did you think to live action?
Did they seriously get a Latina to voice an Eskimo?
Janet wasn't forced to give up the role, she is a turbo lefty that chose to "give POC a chance" on purpose
I know that but a Latina? They did they just grab whatever brown person was available?
she sounds exactly like Janet but with an accent
Ironic since there have been three shows since that have had white VAs voice nonwhite characters.
