My biggest problem is how unrealistic Bob's lack of success is now. The show acts like he makes the best burgers on the east coast, has been featured in a food magazine, has endorsements from Skip Maroosh and every other gourment chef that meets Bob, and to top it off the prices are now some of the lowest prices you can get for a hamburger.
Bob wants to remain a humble blue collar guy who runs a successful restaurant without becoming a sellout like Jimmy Pesto or an obnoxious celebrity chef who cooks haute cuisine
>humble blue collar guy
But at his heart he's a pretentious hipster who's spending way too much on expensive ingredients on a burger of the day that he admits nobody really buys.
Actually taking the time to run his business isn't selling out.
It’s the same issue that befell Simpsons where we’re meant to believe they’re still nobodies even after being in the national/international spotlight countless times. Bob has never done anything as high profile as gone to space with Buzz Aldrin, but it is pretty unbelievable that a burger joint with such good prices and food that is literally two blocks from a heavily trafficked amusement park pier would struggle for business.
>known locally
how well known is Bob's burger?
he barely advertise, all the flyers he prints are usually thrown in the trash by his kids. same goes for the samples he makes
>how well known is Bob's burger?
they had a short running segment on the local morning show where Linda flashes her boobs so I'd say well known to anyone who ever searched amateur hangers?
>Turning Louise gay just because she's not conventionally girly
Yikes.

Yes and that's why she got to kiss girls like Millie and Chloe or Harley and Abby so she can get more girly. And after she gets girly enough she can start kissing girls like Kaylee and jessica so they can get more conventionally girly too.
The movie should've been a total departure from the show and be about the belchers finally growing up in a grounded sense, not this save the amusement park save tje day bullshit.

that's all well and good but you don't need to drastically change the artstyle to accomplish that.

But it helps and would have left a bigger impression on people.
I think we all forget that how close bob's burgers was to the great recession where a small business owner struggling to me ends meet struck a chord and made the belchers relatable. 10 years later and the belchers have lost some of that relatability.

It goes back to the idea of small wins and not large wins with the Belchers but at some point the small wins add up into a big win which is something I think the writers try too hard to avoid.
I always imagined that their poverty stemmed from Bob being autistic about ingredient quality, having erratic operation hours, and having a wait staff that actively harms business. No amount of good press can save you from customers not knowing when you are open or if their food will be delivered by the wife or the annoying kids. Consistency is key
I only watched a few episodes and didn't care for it, but after watching the movie on a plane I want to give it another chance. >shouldn't you kids be at that place, with the books, and the adults that tell you stuff? >the adult bookstore!?
The problem with Bob's Burgers is that the show has become too formulaic. For instance nearly every kid focus episode revolves around one of the kids wanting to do something they are forbidden to do (may or may not be justified), realizing that they're being selfish or harming others, and Learning a Valuable Lesson™ so they do the right thing instead. Then they repeat the process next week.
The show has fallen into a rut and whether it can keep driving in it and survive for another ten seasons who can say. If they don't find a way to liven things up they're doomed to become another zombie Simpsons. Or cancelled. Probably cancelled.
This episode always felt like it was meant to be the series finale to me. Everything about Bob's life and his family is encapsulated by Louise accidentally supergluing him to the toliet seat right before a food magazine comes to interview him.
And that was because of how charismatic she was but whittling down that charisma is what the show has been doing.
I wonder if Schaal and the writers agree on Louise's direction or if there's any conflict there?
Loren unironically thinks fans want to see her die of cancer on the show and if he goes through with it then there will be retcons out the ass and media discourse on Crywank
The gay butcher? Side note, Bobs Burgers doesn't get enough credit for treating its gay characters as normal and not overhyping them for the sake of scoring points.
I love seeing the BB reddit ask where Marshmallow is and not understanding/hating when I explain that going full woke (was a white man vocing Marshmallow, the horror lol) on voice acting is why the character hasn't been on the show in years.

That episode was actually great, felt good seeing somebody like me not just being used as a joke.
I mean it was, but not like how Family Guy or 90% of other cartoons would.
Well yeah but like, good hamburger. Hamburger that's just been grilled. I can see myself liking a dude that smells like that. You know if I wasn't mostly straight.
They finally did it, his family finally broke him in that episode.
Bob was broken since that day, and every episode since has been his brain creating a fantasy reality to cope with the fact that real world. That's why all the characters seem different from season 1. It's all a Bob mental break.
It's a family restaurant and he's got 3 kids. He'd have to commit to less time with his kids or hire someone to run the restaurant for another few hours which his margins are too narrow to afford.
Why don't they just do a timeskip at this point? The post-movie seasons would have been a good time to do so, Louise is basically already a different character and the rest are in desperate need of anything to Hispanice them up a little.
Time-skip episode might work but it's have to be a one-off or a short series of episode (like a mini-series or whatever) since a timeskip is basically committing to changing the fundamental aspects of the show.
People like to shit on this show but it's really good.

>inb4 Bob is meant to be a terrible businessman who sabotages himself
Well that's tough because it's breaking my suspension of disbelief.
Actually taking the time to run his business isn't selling out.
that is why i said he wants to be a blue collar guy
The funny thing is that early season Bob was not like this and actually pushed back against Fischoeder's label as a Beefartist unconcerned with money.
Some outdoor signage advertising the burger of the day wouldn't hurt either, getting a customer inside your door is 90% of the game.

A burger joint known locally as a good place to eat by high end chefs too boot.
It's because growing a small business is associated in its viewers' minds with "selling out"

They did have that episode where Bob partied with quite a few head chefs.
Bob is also friends with almost every restauranteur in town aside from Jimmy Pesto.
And friendly with Skip Maroosh!
I wonder if Bob was ever on friendly terms with Jimmy
Like maybe for a minute but Bob is quick to annoyance.
Next door to a mortuary
I just miss the energy the cast used to have. Louise sounds bored as hell and Bob always sounds like he's on the verge of tears.
See
It will only stop if it gets Steven Universe-tier bad
Wish she made more BB fanart
She’s a director for Craig of the Creek, so I can’t imagine she’s got the time to make fanart lately.
is brendon stalking them?
>green panties for millie
>yellow panties for louise see I would've guessed pink for millie and we know for a fact louise wears white panties.
Yes, have her kiss all the girls.
Sorry bud, she's built for Logan.
This is the style I wanted the movie in.
>Wanting the movie in a different art style to the cartoon
bro what?
I and many other people legit haven't even watched Brunchsquatch. If it ain't Bob's art style it's fanfic shit.
The movie should've been a total departure from the show and be about the belchers finally growing up in a grounded sense, not this save the amusement park save tje day bullshit.

Something I've noticed lately, since Bob's Burgers isnso hell bent on not shaking up the status quo, is there's a formula.
1. Invent a trait for one episode.
2. Create a conflict around that trait.
3. Resolve the conflict for this trait that didn't exist beforehand.
When has Bob ever had problems pooping in public? Never, but, the episode needs a conflict.
When has anyone accused Louise of being overprotective of Gene? Never, but, the episode needs a conflict.
It goes on like this.

The best thing about this show are covers by The National.
I wish someone did a cover of "I do" because that's the best song.
This episode always felt like it was meant to be the series finale to me. Everything about Bob's life and his family is encapsulated by Louise accidentally supergluing him to the toliet seat right before a food magazine comes to interview him.
The episode is meant to be the death of old Louise and the beginning of her boring autistic current self.
Man you're right, dubs of truth and all that, but it's does seem to be the turning point for Louise turning her more introverted and self-doubting.
She completely took over the show. Whenever she has anything to do with the plot the whole focus is on her.
And that was because of how charismatic she was but whittling down that charisma is what the show has been doing.
I wonder if Schaal and the writers agree on Louise's direction or if there's any conflict there?
Small
LITERALLY A WALKING TALKING ONAHOLE
Louise needs to be dangerous.
Loren unironically thinks fans want to see her die of cancer on the show and if he goes through with it then there will be retcons out the ass and media discourse on Crywank
i have no fucking idea what you're talking about
Not that anon but I get it, he's saying Louise is now the designated tearjerker character who is meant to pull on our heart strings with her episodes.
Ugh ikr? Seems like every episode for a long while has been about punishing Louise.
>Bad stuff happens in the bathroom
Like the writing of 97% of episodes of this show.
Kek, rick and mort shit actually getting a laugh outta me, a rare occurrence.
NO JUSTIN, NO!
So when's Bob gonna let Teddy fuck his wife? That fat tub of lard is 90% of how Bob is still in business.
Bob will just wait a few years then give him Tina.
Kinda wish he hooked up with that guy
Teddy?
The gay butcher? Side note, Bobs Burgers doesn't get enough credit for treating its gay characters as normal and not overhyping them for the sake of scoring points.
Hey Marshmallow.
Yeah, but this came way later and Bobs Burgers already had transwomen and people in drag in season 1 but weren't doing it for progressive points.
Those were crossdressers and not transwomen.
Crossdresser takes it off at night
>but weren't doing it for progressive points.
That's what they always say.
>going for woke progressive points five years before gay marriage was legal and a year before Obama supported it
I love seeing the BB reddit ask where Marshmallow is and not understanding/hating when I explain that going full woke (was a white man vocing Marshmallow, the horror lol) on voice acting is why the character hasn't been on the show in years.
he was out of his league
That episode was actually great, felt good seeing somebody like me not just being used as a joke.
I mean it was, but not like how Family Guy or 90% of other cartoons would.
It helped that the butcher guy had a comic personality outside of being gay.
>Bob did too
This man could have saved him from his shitty life
God damn it, Bob. You're both men who handle meat for a living, think of all the lost bedroom puns
Does bob attract out of his league because people see him as a sad puppy?
Think about it, he's hairy and smells like hamburger too.
Well yeah but like, good hamburger. Hamburger that's just been grilled. I can see myself liking a dude that smells like that. You know if I wasn't mostly straight.
Mostly straight?
Tell me about it
This was the last time I remember Bob actually getting mad
They finally did it, his family finally broke him in that episode.
Bob was broken since that day, and every episode since has been his brain creating a fantasy reality to cope with the fact that real world. That's why all the characters seem different from season 1. It's all a Bob mental break.
And oh my god the spisode ended with the him being in coasters with an article that had a positive spin on his predicament.
Wedding ring episode is the angriest Bob ever got on the show.
>bob closes at 7pm
no wonder why he's always failing
Damn bob did you learn nothing from your father?
My work place opens at 6 and closes at 2 and we do just fine we even close two hours early on weekends
sounds like your place is a breakfast only place
Not necessarily true. The place could just be reliant heavily on morning commuters and lunch visits.
It's a family restaurant and he's got 3 kids. He'd have to commit to less time with his kids or hire someone to run the restaurant for another few hours which his margins are too narrow to afford.
I just want an episode where Jimmy Pesto's wife comes back to town. I can see her overly flirting with Bob just to throw it in Jimmy's face.
nuBob wouldn't do something that interesting, that's a season 2 or 3 premise
Why don't they just do a timeskip at this point? The post-movie seasons would have been a good time to do so, Louise is basically already a different character and the rest are in desperate need of anything to Hispanice them up a little.
>Why don't they just do a timeskip at this point?
They're not ready to admit things have gotten that desperate.
They should do a timeskip where Louise is going through puberty and realizing she wants to kiss girls just as much Tina wanted to kiss boys.
Bi Louise is all right with me, man
Time-skip episode might work but it's have to be a one-off or a short series of episode (like a mini-series or whatever) since a timeskip is basically committing to changing the fundamental aspects of the show.
But arguably the show has already changed fundamental aspects of the show.
I don't wanna know
I hate Tina plots so much it’s unreal
I've been too worried about bathroom stuff lately I didn't need to see this today of all days.
What's everyone's opinions on The Great North? Feels like Alaskan Bob's Burgers so far to me.
They have a lot of songs in the episodes.
Jenny Slate does a really good job in it.
Started off outlandishly boring but I've been enjoying the more recent episodes.
Sounds just like Alaska then. Fucking snowfags.
The development for Louise would be good if the show ended afterwards.
