    were the jokes funny
how long was it spent in Barbieland

i thought some of them were funny, a lot of the humor was a bit cheesy, but i thought it was all very cute

i’d say about half or maybe even a little more than half of the movie was spent in barbie land.

also i’d like to add the actual audience i watched with only laughed like twice throughout the movie. i think it’s because they were caught off guard with how the movie played out.

What part would you recommend jacking off to

      Anonymous

that’s tough there’s not many jackoffsble moments, maybe if you’re a foot gay there’s some scenes for you, otherwise maybe the roller skating scene

I didn't liked the character with neutral pronouns, such a weird way to "stay relevant" he is barely in the film and yet he is on every trailer and promotional poster for this movie.

which character was that? i didn’t see any characters with gender neutral pronouns

If I go watch this with my gf am I just going to be insulted the whole time?

kind of. a lot of the movie is spent addressing feminism/sexism/male chauvinism but they also show discrimination and societal pressure men deal with. the message i took from the movie was that we should strive for genders to treat other respectfully and equally possible with a slight bias towards the femininst POV

I heard the no singles policy will be zero tolerance and they are putting pictures up of men who have gone alone before.

wasn’t a thing in my theater

        so essentially it's
        >barbieland must be ruled by women but men should have some rights
        and
        >real world must be equal rights but slightly more feminist

          Anonymous

that’s a very good way to summarize it, yes. also kinda that barbieland is like an innocent childlike unattainable utopia that women shouldn’t obsess over but can still strive towards, and should be more comfortable in their own skin.

            well.
that doesn't seem very equal imo.
            but alright.
glad you liked the movie OP.

The no singles policy is in full effect Code Gamma. You would have a better chance of breaking into Fort Knox.

What do you mean when you say it’s not lighthearted? Is the movie really as politically preachy as people are saying?

      Anonymous

oh dude, it’s pretty heavy loool. it did come off as preachy but it’s mostly thing i agree with so it didn’t bother me. it was surprising, because i wasn’t expecting a barbie movie to be so deep on so many issues but yeah it really tackled the issues of nihilism, loss of innocence and sexism/feminism/gender based discrimination head on for basically the whole movie. in a really cute way.

any good shots of Margot? Is it worth seeing if I just want to coom to Margot?

very much so, even if you don’t like plot, or literally any of the messaging of the movie it’s absolutely beautifully cinematic, very aesthetic and well shot, well worth just seeing margot being margot for an hour and a half in a bunch of snazzy outfits

Is it actually about the patriarchy or whatever?

What specific things does it do to complain about men and emasculate men?

I haven't seen it but yeah it is actually about patriarchy, like it's the central theme.

yes, the themes of gender based discrimination sexism and patriarchy are pretty thick and present in the movie from start to finish.

specifically referencing things like gender pay gap, lack of woman ceos, women being catcalled and seen as strictly sexual objects, basically everything you can think of.

      they did

every clip I see, every trailer I see, I get a sneaking suspicion that Gosling as Ken, and maybe Cena as Allan, will be the funniest, most relatable, and most interesting part of the movie to me, and I will watch Margot Robbie as mere eye-candy waiting for her to do something I find sexy.
      Apparently, this is sexist.
      And it feels good.

i could see that, i feel like michael ceras role was a nod to incels but im not quite sure
