      >"I'm honored to receive your Crown of Jerusalem award, that's a very big deal, as far as I'm concerned," the former President told the crowd.
      >"I can say Israel is under siege politically. It used to be when I was growing up in Queens, my father was a builder in Brooklyn, and my father was very supportive of the whole israeli movement. And in Congress, you couldn't say a bad thing about Israel, you couldn't even talk about it.
      >Pres. Biden credits Trump admin. for vaccine development: "Let me be clear, thanks to the prior administration and our scientific community, America is one of the first countries to get the vaccine."
      >I can't really understand it because I grew up in a world where everything politically revolved around Israel. It used to be that one bad word about Israel, you were out

BY THAT I MEAN, WE ARE A NATION OF IMMIGRANTS. THAT'S WHO WE ARE. THAT IS NOT HYPERBOLE. WE TALK, TEACH OUR KIDS WE'RE A MELTING POT. THE GOD'S TRUTH IS, WE ARE A MELTING POT. IT IS THE ULTIMATE SOURCE OF OUR STRENGTH, IT IS THE ULTIMATE SOURCE OF WHO WE ARE. WHAT WE'VE BECOME. IT STARTED ALL THE WAY BACK IN THE LATE 1700'S. THERE'S BEEN A CONSTANT UNRELENTING STREAM OF IMMIGRATION. NOT IN LITTLE TRICKLES BUT IN LARGE NUMBERS.

You can’t.. evolutionarily women are still somewhere between cave people and modernity because there has basically been no selection pressure on them. All selection pressure has been on the male chromosome. So women will always be attracted to cave men for deep biological reasons that didn’t evolve.

The premise sounds so boring: the Kens are like the 60s housewives and the Barbies are like the men. After visiting the real world, the Barbies give the Kens just a little bit of power. Barbie and Ken don't end up together, they both have to -~=*find themself*=~-.

The Barbies give the Kens astronomically less power than women undeniably have in the real world.

How? It seems like typical 90s feminist slop. It's not presenting a message that hasn't already been shoved down everyone's throats for decades.

        >the message is men and women should be equal but in barbieland women should have a bit more power and that should happen in the real world too
        Yeah I can't see why that's a bad message.

        Anonymous

Yeah, but things that were normal and common place that didn't cause anyone to blink an eye back in the 90s would cause endless screeching by the right wing today. Pic related- this was the cast of a Disney version of Cinderella that came out just around 30 years ago. Not only were there no complaints- it actually got pretty decent reviews. If they tried to release that now we would never hear the end of it

People just thought it was a good version of the story. Yeah, Whoopi Goldberg and Brandy were definitely really big at the time, but people just enjoyed the movie and didn't really care about the races of the people in it. Flash foreword 30 years later and there would be a never ending campaign online of people freaking out and crying non stop

              The problem is...
              Women aren't oppressed by society.
So releasing a movie in a time where women are oppressed...all right...that's tolerable.
But in a society where women's issues are on 24/7 all the fricking time?
              You aren't oppressed.
And it starts to get annoying.
No one batted an eye, because it wasn't EVERYWHERE.

                Anonymous

I'm not here to argue with you about women's rights or anything- my point is simply that the right has become much more soft and easily triggered. If this movie had been released 30 years ago it would have been fine. Some people would like it, some people wouldn't, but it wouldn't be a big deal either way. But today, you have these right wingers freaking out and posting screeds online and throwing fits like somebody is forcing them to all go out and see this movie if they don't want to.

You're missing context. Whites are generous and fine with it when it rarely happens. The problem is that ~~*Hollywood*~~ is explicitly anti-white now and trying to detach us from our own history and culture. Other races get to celebrate their own cultures while literally appropriating our own.

Jeez, Chud! Do you expect modern movies NOT to cater to angry, hateful feminists with a constant chip on their shoulder!? This is THEIR ERA! They need these movies! You have enough white boy movies. The future is FEMALE! Miserable, lonely, and FEMALE!

The trailers strategically hid the wokeness. That’s why it’s doing so well at the box office- it’ll have a massive second weekend drop.

fun movie. all the obvious and over the top jokes and subject matter pisses off all the obviously baited morons and the movie is obviously self-aware of all of it, so it's nice to see it holds onto a nice message about mothers and daughters even through all that shit.

Just read the plot. It's so damn political: the word matriarchy, patriarchy, unrealistic beauty standards, systemic power, contradiction of american feminity, etc are all there

Jesus christ Americans, it's a movie about toys and children

Someone said there's a part where Barbie says she's afraid of not being pretty and the narrator breaks the 4th wall and says Margot Robbie is the wrong person to cast to make this argument.

Which sounds really stupid in the context.

        from the article:
        >But the fact that this even became grounds for debate is a sign of some pretty toxic beauty standards.

        >Degrading women and picking apart their appearances online is ugly enough.

        >Literally holding them up to the standards of plastic dolls with cartoonish proportions is even worse.

SHES LITERALLY PLAYING A DOLL! WHAT DID SHE EXPECT?

I always think it's hilarious feminists debate about beauty and then go and spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on makeup. They should be burning those factories to the ground and instead they put on so much lipstick a fly could get stuck in it.

A little poverty is no threat to the survival of a people's bloodlines. The elevation and celebration of the Foucauldian archetypes of the Hysterical Woman, the Malthusian Couple, the jerking off Child, and the Deviant Adult, on the other hand are existential threats that cannot be endured.

The movie would have had something to say if the Barbie's realized they have been treating the Ken's as bad as women are treated in the real world (even though it is greatly exaggerated) but they don't. Ken's are still very much second class citizens and it's just better with Barbie's in charge. Ken's ask for some representation in government and they're just told no.

By no means did the studio make any attempt to disguise the feminist nature of the film, but even before any marketing you would have had to be completely moronic to not realize it would most likely be a feminist piece

I think the movie actually has a good "men going their own way" which is just men stop simping and forget about women.

I do think the film unironically argues for a slight matriarchy in the real world as the right system though because men are somewhat inferior due to being violent.

Send this link to Abby so she scurries

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/barbie-director-wants-viewers-to-feel-like-i-did-at-shabbat-dinner/

How is Barbie deemed to be a problematic misogynistic symbol of 1950s "patriarchy" when the doll was literally created by a liberal yenta who went on to found Mattel off Barbie dollars to create a multi billion dollar empire of plastic toys constructed by slave labor (Third World women)?

And lol at the male dual citizen running it now.

It's almost like a "Barbie" was hatched as a slow timer "problematic" neoliberal weapon, and marketing was used in order to imprint this blonde "shiksa" on pop culture until it was deemed culture, so that it could be held up as certifiable proof that white American guys were oppressors of white women.

And so it's held up to be illuminated in the anti-baptism of Critical Theory in the form of a movie from Hollywood, the only place in America that has a severe history of wealthy tribal men abusing, raping and murdering women. But the movie skips that even though Barbie elopes to that place in the movie?
