Barbie will be the biggest marketing scam of this year

The film is actually really bad but they're using a combo of meme marketing and woke themes to get hordes of npcs to defend it. Let's look at some of the reactions to this movie from people who aren't complete shills.

From the Time Magazine article that was supposed to promote the film.
https://www.worldofreel.com/blog/2023/6/2hj5nf7pnyzqfa1kl58bzyog2y8fe6
> I can share that it’s a fun yet self-aware romp with shades of Clueless and Legally Blonde. It’s also stuffed full of ideas, and occasionally overwhelmed by them.

Another reaction from an influencer screening.

> I have seen the final cut of the film; it will be profitable for WB. If you love/hate the trailer, then the film won’t change your mind. If you are like me, and have no interest in Barbie but are curious how much intellect Gerwig and Baumbach can inject into a commercial blockbuster, you will be entertained. The first 25 minutes feel like fan service, and then the real film begins. Most people in the audience are just looking for a fun movie to see with their friends, and this one will satisfy them. If you are a film student or like to type long reviews on Letterboxd, there is plenty to discuss (fascism, gender power dynamics, corporate greed, existentialism, patriarchy, self-worth, genitals, psychological manipulation within a relationship, inclusion/exclusion). That being said, the film only scratches the surface of these topics—it’s not a deep dive. I don’t expect any major awards, but Ryan Gosling gives a great performance and gave me the biggest laugh of the film.

Pic related is the only non-shill reaction you have.

So what do we have here? A movie that non-shills outright hate while even the shills only give it faint praise. Yet, the marketing has made this movie outsell Mission Impossible in pre-sales. Make no mistake, you're getting scammed.

It's not "meant" for anyone. Or rather, it's meant for the studio. They got the rights to Barbie and they want to make a Barbie movie, dammit. What that movie was supposed to be, they never thought about until later. Call it Star Wars Sequel Syndrome.

They cast an ugly troony who had to show up on set and sit next to Margot Robbie.
I’m surprised the troony hasn’t killed himself yet for realizing how he’ll never look like Margot Robbie.
And they cast Kate McKinnon as Ugly Barbie, and she’s so dumb she still promotes the film.

It's a strange concept for a movie. I don't expect that there are a lot of little girls out there playing with their Barbie and Ken dolls imagining they're both middle aged childless Peter Pan syndrome adults. There's definitely a mockery going on here of the demographic who will actually pay to watch the movie (presumably), at least on a visual level.

I doubt they'll really tackle any themes of female mid-life crisis because women wouldn't be able to handle that. The visual and aesthetic foundation is there and begging to be built upon, but it's pretty obvious they won't do anything provocative or thoughtful with it whatsoever. Shame.

They won’t tackle themes of female mid-life crisis, it’ll instead tackle themes of
