That's woke Hollywood for you, meanwhile in real life the indians were asking for it.
I watched the first two hours, all the up to where that FBI agent shows up to Leo's house to investigate the murders. Haven't felt motivated to watch the rest.
Yeah, wtf good does it do for you, moron? You have the constitution and it replaced freedom. you're too stupid to see it, too. hows 1A and 2A going for you. dumb frick
I'm aware this thread is a racebait /misc/ thread and don't even try to deny it.
Regardless I'll actually talk about the movie. It was a movie about two very famous actors experiencing a pretty fricked up legal exploit. The story of the Osage was often secondary to useless shots of DiCaprio and De Niro doing nothing. The major plot point of Tom White and his team of investigators was glossed over in opposition to the book.
The movie did pay very close attention to historical accuracy with a few exceptions like the Masons scene. What began as an adaptation of a book focused on solving a great mystery and correcting a legal loophole became a movie about historical "good and bad" guys with none of the moral and national ambiguity that made the original story captivating. The FBI origin story was lost in a collection of shock value scenes that had less to do with social enlightenment as much as giving well-known actors a chance to overact.
I have a bais as an Oklahoma native so I'm glad to see native actors get a large film opportunity and the associated paycheck. Overall it was an interesting film and brought light to a point of American history that is little discussed outside inflammatory political baiting and general shitposting. I encourage all to read the book as it is much more focused on the mystery, intrigue, and law of the situation rather than fluff.

Are your parents siblings, anon?
>I'm aware this thread is a racebait /misc/ thread
OP just asked about the movie. You unironically have twitterbrain seeing racist boogeymen everywhere. Get off the internet for even a couple of hours in your life, take a walk and think about how your thought process got this way.
do you think the killers of the flowermoon would have been better if it was more like a detective movie where the audience didnt know anything right from the beginning?
dropped if before an hour. It's just badly made. Script is so basic, simple and straightforward. The same with directing. The movie is also very expository. For example, all it needs at the beginning is the text saying something like >thanks to oil discovered on their land, osage injuns became one of the wealthiest people in the world per capita
just this. You don't need a montage of them in furs, diamond israeliteelry, fancy cars etc It can be shown naturally throughout the movie. When you do it the way it was done here, it just feels like someone stopped the movie to lay some heavy handed infodump on you. And it doesn't matter it was just a couple of minutes. Even 15 seconds shot can feel long as frick when it's absolutely not needed. And there was more like this. Instead of having the story just move forward, it's constantly interrupted by exposition. For fricks sake, just let me watch a movie in peace. Because this is not the movie. I don't count that shit as a movie. I didn't even watch one hour but it felt longer than some 3+ hours movies i saw. Just horrible
>Script is so basic, simple and straightforward. The same with directing. The movie is also very expository.
i thought this too, especially the beginning feels very amateurish
Completely fictional. The majority of info about the events irl come from a journalist turned author who refused to share all his copies of the "local news articles" and sources from the native community he supposedly spoke to.
Based and kino.
The editing was a bit sloppy and the story had too many moving parts that didn't all get the necessary attention (like the existence of his kids).
But I was most impressed by how Scorsese's changed up so many of his own tropes. The film is similar to Goodfellas in more ways than I expected but also subverts so many of the tropes associated with that film and others like it.
It was fantastic only if you have the attention span for it. I reccomend for those who don't to take an edible or shrooms so they can really get outside of their marvel scape. You might have to piss and shit yourself for the first time in your life if you ever intend on having a stomach for this type of tragic storytelling. If you are bored, its probably because you are too much of a consooooomer to even have dreams at night and never had a vision towards a higher calling, or just don't have an active imagination at all. You're just a content sponge for social media
Not really ironic. Just more ousting your perspective. Did you see it? Pay attention to the seen when Leo and Molly at the dining table and listen to the rain. Molly just sits and tells him to be quiet "The storm is very powerful, just listen". Leo won't shut up, and has to fill the uncomfortable silence with talking. He has no presence. Not everyone is an internal reproduction of the content they consume. Molly isn't, but Leo is, and so it seems are you.
based. Really show's how shallow people are. Instead of teaching native Americans to grow themselves by sending their kids to college and learning a skill like medicine, law or engineering, they took advantage of their cash influx and killed them
It also show how weak people get taken advantage of sociopaths
you can teach people anything with the right approach and of course the student needs discipline/determination as well
you assume that natives dont have that determination but you're not understanding no one approached them and told them how they would be treated if they didnt take their children's education seriously. Instead they got dazzled by sociopaths and charlatans.
He 100% knew he was harming her from the beginning. And by the time that she was on death's doorstep he had figured out that the endgame was her death.
I'm usually an autist when it comes to historical accuracy, but this movie could really benefit from altering things a little.
So much time is spent looking for various hitmen, when combining them into one guy would make things go much smoother. The film had enough characters already. Like was it really necessary for de niro to talk to a guy, who then tells another guy to look for the bomb guy? Just show him talking directly to the bomb guy ffs.
The pacing is really strange. IRL happenings were spread over a couple of years and the movie makes a bad job at showcasing that. Like that insured drunk who had to stay alive for a year, and got killed few moments later. I did not know whether that time had passed, or they decided to cut their losses and drop him anyway, as he was potentially entitled to some inheritance.
It's especially bad as there are no immediate consequences to the murders, so there's no real tension. There are hints of potential problems, like botched suicide staging or the explosion being too hardcore, but they lead to nowhere. At least show the characters fixing their mistakes, or de niro working to cover things up.
Adding some conflict could really help it. Like with that drunk - do they kill him, or protect him to kill him later. Or show that other sisters' husband as more of a player in the plotting and killing game. Without it, the film has its moments, but looks more like a series of scenes than a real movie.
>Like was it really necessary for de niro to talk to a guy, who then tells another guy to look for the bomb guy? Just show him talking directly to the bomb guy ffs.
That scene showed Ernest's ineptitude.
I liked it, not Scorsese's best, but it might be his best since the 2000s have begun at least. That said, I have not seen Silence, so maybe that's better.
I don't know if it was intentional, but I found it a pretty negative portrayal of the Osage. They seem to become immediately Westernized as soon as they have money, with only the old woman seeming to care about where they came from, I take it it was intentional considering she's critical of her own daughters over it. I did find it odd that the one who seemed like she had drifted the most from the Osage culture, the one who was constantly drunk and sleazy and felt more like some Latina than a Native American woman, was the old woman's favorite though. I thought DiCaprio's character was interesting too.
I suppose negative might be a bit too strong a word, but it certainly wasn't as positive as I expected going into it, I kind of expected them to be portrayed solely as victims.
pretty cringe, it's documentarian style, just endless details when you get the point in fifteen minutes and the last three hours is circling the drain. it's well done but just not interesting
How does it compare to the real story? Where whitoids as shameless at killing the indians in real life? These homies weren't even trying to be subtle about killing them for their money.
the real story is indians were moron savages who didn't know they had oil or if they found it wouldn't know what to do with it, the land was given to them out of the kindness of the white man's heart, not to mention the civilization they brought with them
It could have been a good procedural from the FBI's perspective, trying to prove themselves on one of their first major cases.
It could have been a good psychological horror from Lily Gladstone's perspective, gradually discovering that her husband and the father of her children is a murderer.
Instead it's five hours of "I'm a serious actor and let me tell you that I LOVE WOMEN ALMOST AS MUCH AS I LOVE MONEY but oh gosh Uncle I guess I better do what you say because I LOVE MONEY ALMOST AS MUCH AS I LOVE DRINKING but oh no I done blowed up a house, it was okay to kill people but now I feel real bad about this here property damage because I LOVE DRINKING ALMOST AS MUCH AS I LOVE WOMEN but now I'm ready to do the right thing, no I'm not, yes I am, no I'm not, yes I am, I guess I wasn't after all, but I hope I win another Oscar for this serious acting 🙁 🙁 :("
>It could have been a good psychological horror from Lily Gladstone's perspective, gradually discovering that her husband and the father of her children is a murderer.
this is the route they should have taken. if i recall correctly the script had been changed many times over a year or two. Originally it was going to be from the fbi's perspective but they decided that it would make the movie seem like another "white saviour" scenario
>they decided that it would make the movie seem like another "white saviour" scenario
They didn't change it for that, but because DiCaprio wanted to play Ernest because he thought it was a better character.
Yep. The script is written as skimming over a wikipdia article instead of taking a more engaging way of telling the story. Ernest isn't a bad character, but he can't carry the movie and would have worked far better as a secondary character.
I'm sorry, white bros, but this movie made me hate white people. I'm starting to think the NOI is right about white people being devils created by Yakub. Only devils could be so heartless.
It's a solid movie, but it has a tv show feel for it. Not a cheap show by any means, but like an HBO mini series with an insane budget and great actors. It doesn't quite flow as a movie.
>"it's only a small percentage of whites who did those things, anon."
Yeah, it's only a small percentage of Black folk and israelites who have made whitey their b***h. an absolute enslaved house Black person. what goes around comes around.
This movie made me understand why white americans are like that, trying to push bullshit like critical race theory and racial egalitarianism to the real world. Turns out you were actually evil and now you feel guilty.
about to watch it, unironically. what am I in for?
There's no lightsabers or space battles. boring shit. 2/10 only because the injun girls were cute
Illiterate brownskin bossgirl femme fatale
many pale skins back then couldn't read nor write, you stupid frick
yeah and it made it so believable that the savages with no written language could
You just said she was illiterate. this isn't disputed. Why are you making things up, now? Besides, in the film every character could read. so, again, wtf are you talking about, homosexual? these savages are kicking pale skin's asses, today. How you like them apples?
>femme fatale
you don't know what that means. white people are the only ones who actually do anything in the entire runtime.
Read the book instead. It's far better and most people on Cinemaphile can't read so you won't have to see people being moronic about it.
Kino
-3.5 hours of one theme being repeated, that being "white man bad".
-Leo saying "I LOVE MONEY HA HA HA" non stop in case you're too stupid to realise he's greedy.

And distractingly fat indians
Couldn't they just do some dieting before shooting?
that's the point, the doctors werent really helping them get fit and were purposefully making sure they would die early. Truly awful
>-3.5 hours of one theme being repeated, that being "white man bad".
That's woke Hollywood for you, meanwhile in real life the indians were asking for it.
Just like how pale skins are along for it, today, too. It's the circle of life.
borefest with the strange decision to show it from the comically evil villain's point of view
Like most Scorsese's movies?
Yes but at least interesting things happen in movies like Goodfellas. This one is a snoozer
You should just read the wiki page about the actual events. Same experience but wastes much less time
3.5 hours and not a dull moment
Why is this shit four hours long
Because scorsese is a pretentious megalomaniac midget
Everyone is scared to tell Marty he's wrong. Same reason Quentin Tostino and Ridley Scott movies suck
Tarantino moved to Israel after Weinstein went down though

Best film of 2023, don't respond to me
not even a good movie in general
I don't see any reason to watch after the first hour. I'd rather have a movie from that Indian woman's perspective than this dumb bastard

Long, disjointed, and without a focused narrative structure or theme?

Its all about approach anon.
source: taught math to kids who were deemed to be on the lower end of the intelligence spectrum but they were just slow learners when it came to math
sure it is, the right teaching approach and i'll score 100 points a game in the NBA because life is an anime.
false equivalency
you can teach people anything with the right approach and of course the student needs discipline/determination as well

lmao im not even talking about positive reinforcement or kindness as an apporach. Humans arent dogs
Did Leo's character really not understand that he was poisoning his wife until the end? There is low IQ, and then there's literally moronic.

That's the thing that immediately stuck out the most since you almost never see "westernized" natives in period pieces.
I wouldn't say it was especially negative. They all come off as realistic people who each have their own flaws and own interests.
I suppose negative might be a bit too strong a word, but it certainly wasn't as positive as I expected going into it, I kind of expected them to be portrayed solely as victims.

How does it compare to the real story? Where whitoids as shameless at killing the indians in real life? These homies weren't even trying to be subtle about killing them for their money.
the real story is indians were moron savages who didn't know they had oil or if they found it wouldn't know what to do with it, the land was given to them out of the kindness of the white man's heart, not to mention the civilization they brought with them
>Were whitoids as shameless at killing the indians in real life?
this part was true but wasnt represented as well as it could have in the movie.
>These homies weren't even trying to be subtle about killing them for their money
a good portion of the town was in on it
Black person detected
Cringe

>Lily Gladstone
Anyone have any sexy pics of her? She's kind of cute. Don't mind if she's a bit chubby or dresses plain
You can tell the actress is a prude. She barely even showed her tummy.
Yep. The script is written as skimming over a wikipdia article instead of taking a more engaging way of telling the story. Ernest isn't a bad character, but he can't carry the movie and would have worked far better as a secondary character.
it was hella boring until the marshals showed up, then i stood up
hell but i love my wife, bout as much as I love money. she's got diabeetus.
In the original script Tom White was the main character, but in the final movie it takes him 2 hours to appear.
>The birth of the FBI story
I'm sorry, white bros, but this movie made me hate white people. I'm starting to think the NOI is right about white people being devils created by Yakub. Only devils could be so heartless.
Obviously the European gentiles are the cause of your problems.
It's a solid movie, but it has a tv show feel for it. Not a cheap show by any means, but like an HBO mini series with an insane budget and great actors. It doesn't quite flow as a movie.
Scorsese got told what for by the Hollywood establishment and his movies suck now
I liked Silence.
Frick this movie. It tries to make freemasons look like the bad guys. I stopped watching right there.
Seems a bit gay for grown men to meet in a lodge and paddle each other in the ass. I don't know.
The real red pill is that Hale wasn't killing the indians for money but because the masons knew it could be used as an excuse to empower the FBI.
Sauce
Acie fricking Kirby? Yo this movie is lit. Anyone else got really hyped when Acie got mentioned? That's when I knew shit was about to get real.
Mostly boring. The story could have been interesting, but it's told in a very underwhelming way.
It's bizarre how DiCaprio seemingly loves his wife but has no issue with killing her entire family kek.
This! They're pushing israeli CRT, because they know their end is nigh. It's literally a cry out for mercy, now that the tables have turned.
