Clone Wars is honestly kind of a perfect fusion of George providing ideas, Dave being enough of a fan and an established animation creator to both implement them and say no when it doesn't make sense. George on his own and you get the prequels, grand visionary ideas with awful acting and scripting. Dave on his own and you get piddling stories about his OCs.
I just didn't like how Maul was changed from angry little just business hitman to scheming, machiavellian speech giving mustache twirler who won't ever shut up. And then made into a near non-threat. Ahsoka and Kanan were so not threatened by him that they were just kind of annoyed at his presence on Moribad.
I'm almost 100% sure Maul originally was just some peasant Zabrak that Sheev snatched. Simply a tool to be used.
