    >Last we heard from Carruth, he had posted online videos of him nailing a box of Cheezits to the wall with a crossbow — on the side of the fridge we could see post-it note drawings storyboarding “The Modern Ocean”.
    Sounds kinda worrying, Carruthbros

Too bad, i liked both his movies.
He does sound like a schizo, but maybe that's what made his movies interesting.

      >He does sound like a schizo
"Schizo" is literally written on his face. I almost regret he burned so early and so unknown - imagine the spectacle of a bigger Shane escapades and tantrums.

I think Primer is a masterpiece, and I think Upstream Color is a masterpiece, and I think the screenplay for A Topiary is one of the best screenplays I've ever read. You wanna talk about wasted talent, man. This is all so disappointing.

He could have gotten A Topiary made if he chose to crowdfund, but he was morally opposed to that or w/e

I don't blame him. I financed a short film through crowdfunding once about 10 years ago and it was a hellish experience.

I’m going to start a production company that will take in all of the disgraced indie directors like carruth and gallo. who wants to give me cash to fund it?

If only he could have held it in for one more film. His tweets during his full blown psychosis were great though

He wanted to things his way and pissed people off because of it. He probably said no to sucking dick for money. It’s no wonder they made him seem like an abuser and weirdo. The cinetards will eat up any story like that.

He’s going to become a cult star. He knows that

Cosmatos instanly became one after his debut solely on the merit of the picture. At this point Shane can become cult only through building up an exxagerated myth by playing a martyr to impressionable youth in search of a father figure. To people like you.

Alternate Universe where Shane Carruth manages to make A Topiary before his breakdown, and the moderate success from it's debut lands him with an adaptation of Bakker's The Darkness That Comes Before

Moderate success? A Topiary makes a billy easy.

What a strange fricking matchup, are you me?

Tbh Bakker was gassed out after the first trilogy, the sequel series is extremely rough. He coped making it about money and not his laziness, it's a real shame.

Cancelled at peak MeToo to boost some literal who yenta's career.

He did have an emotional meltdown and completely lose his shit later, I found his vimeo videos shooting his walls with a crossbow and phone recording other videos with music playing.

He’ll just make it all using AI in the next ten years. Visuals will be easy,
    scriptwriters will be kind

Reminder that he cancelled himself. He is the one that went public about the restraining order.

Is Upstream Color worth it? I don't recall liking Primer much more than it being just "ok" and the fact that he does everything including the music makes me think he's some sort of narcissist. But who knows.

Upstream Color is absolutely worth it. I think in some ways it's better than Primer. The acting is certainly better imo. Speaking of which, if you thought Primer was just okay I recommend watching it again. At least for me, there was so much I missed the first time that I couldn't really appreciate it except on repeat viewings. (Which some people will say is a flaw in the film, which I suppose is fair, but I like that about it.)

Primer is reddit, Upstream Color is Cinemaphile
