No, they were some sort of entity, angels or demons or whatever, sent by God, who doesn't actually like being called God. Anders talks about it a bit before he goes brain dead and the Six and Baltar angels talk about it in the last scene of the show.

A bit of a letdown to be honest. But no, Gaius isn't a cylon.

fantastic until they started getting bogged down in the "you need to stop mistreating robots" that every single fricking sci fi show does, what the frick is wrong with creatives and their hard on for protecting robots.
