BCB's entire narrative is built upon an assortment of inexplicable stupidities. In a better comic, the extended family would be skeptical of this whole Augustus thing. Lucy's Aunt would either be supportive ("Lucy finally made a friend, miracle of miracles") or the most worried ("For half a year I had a front row seat to this girl's issues and the warning lights are flashing red"). Someone makes a comment that touches off Lucy's hair-trigger fury and she storms out as usual, setting up the driving force behind the chapter's interpersonal conflict.

There is some potential with Blur if only because he got so pissy about the others leaving that he up and abandoned Mike. His return would cause narrative tension in the best case scenario, and one more excuse to on Mike at the worst.

At this point, what could possibly be revealed that would improve the comic? Of course they would be ok with it. The majority will always go along with the creator's choices, and the creator knows that. Whenever you see an artist, youtuber, or whoever ask if it's ok to postpone something, or if it's ok if things scale back, it's never to get actual feedback, it's just to justify their laziness.
Got none other than memories of ancient discussions around an ancient volume one era comic discussing the various breeds of the cast. Some note was made about Lucy potentially descending from Siamese royalty (as in Burma, not the breed) along with Mike being a korat rather than European.

What a wet fart of an end to a chapter that started so strong.
I've always seen these threads on Cinemaphile and sometimes came in to see some cute art but never cared to read the story. One Track Mind and Link Play actually got me reading along with everyone, and I was enjoying it and the discussions in the threads. This chapter was so good, but seeing it fall to absolute shit toward the end was sad. Now I see that this hateful author does this often. Looks like I won't be reading from the beginning, after all.
What is the end goal here? Does the author have a story in her head? Because it seems like her writing is dictated by her emotions and the whims of the echo chamber fanatics on Patreon.

No, or at least not anymore. She's stretching whatever story she might have had so hard the limbs have already been sheared off because she doesn't have any better ideas but doesn't want to give up the patreonbux.
This chapter could've ended on a nice note if she just kept Paulo and Co hidden in a bush and let James and Mike end that night agreeing to stay friends, instead it was a ruin every character speedrun challenge.

Of a sort. BCB is ultimately a coping mechanism for Taeshi after certain romantic issues left her chronically insecure. The gist is that her author avatar (Lucy) will triumph over The Other Girl (Sandy) in ways that Taeshi herself never did. A route was at least partially planned out a decade or more in advance, but Taeshi has dawdled along and indulged her personal whims so often that said plan no longer works. But she presses on toward the end goal regardless, logic and narrative satisfaction be damned. Of course, given the cultivated nature of her audience and the satisfaction she gets from tormenting Mike, Taeshi has reason to take her time. No one but her actually wants to see Lucy win the Mike bowl, after all.
Her endgoal is stretching the frick out of the character's junior year because she lost her passion for this so she can't carry it on past the junior prom endgame but she doesn't have anything to fall back on after BCB. We've been stuck in the in-universe month of December for over two years.
BPD with a shitty self insert, self insert got her ass blasted because she was an annoying c**t, so she she tries to kill herself and now everyone loves her, and the guy who blasted her away as retaliation of years of abusse is now seen as the bad guy, who constantly gets shitted on, until he fights back and then gets punished
I like the implication that Paulo, who has a fricking car and most likely drove it there, let Daisy just walk home on her own in the middle of the night and didn't care enough
It's a sign of how much Taeshi is checked out from the comic that she can't even pull off a quick bit of drama like Daisy being pissed that Jess took Paulo's first time and didn't even appreciate it.
And honestly at this point Daisy's Paulo obsession should've died many times over by now. Yet it still persists. I bet Daisy and Paulo has something similar to what Mike and Lucy had as children. It's just that Paulo forgot it and it's yet to be shown.

I think what Daisy needs is ACTUAL rejection. Mike didn't outright reject her or hate her guts, but pushed her aside because she wasn't being herself but still loves her as a friend, Abbey didn't outright cut her from his life and it his rationale wasn't that wrong, Daisy just couldn't give him his place as a boyfriend and kept putting Paulo first, yet they're amicable, and Augustus is only staying away from her because Lucy is holding his leash. No one has outright made Daisy feel like shit and unwanted yet so she has a reason to instrospect, all she has right now is "I'm always last >:("

See, that has actual entertainment potential. The problem--or, well, *a* problem--with BCB is that character conflict is kept at this very basic level best outlined as "refusing to follow destiny." No further thought is put into it. Characters suffer when they do not submit to their fate and all problems are magically undone once they cave. So nothing else really matters and once you see the truth it is hard to stay invested because you know what you are reading is meaningless meandering bullshit.
I like how David completely lost interest in that fat b***h. I wonder if he dragged her along to a movie she'd hate because he was always planning on rubbing her face in him abandoning his OTP.
Come to think of it, Sandy showing up, chilling for a few days, luring everyone into a false sense of security, observing their bullshit with a keen eye masked by an airhead attitude, then unloading with both barrels and tearing everyone's egos to shreds would make her my favorite character by far.
The seething insecurity and jealousy that Sandy inspires in the entire cast merely by existing already makes her the highest powerlevel out of anyone. Imagine: >Sandy takes Mike out on a pity-date for valentines >Baits Daisy and Lucy into stalking her around Roseville >At the end of the date, she breaks up with Mike >As he's blubbering, she asks him to promise her one last thing: "Don't rebound with that psycho who hurt you, Maishul. It's really annoying how often the comic tends to just unceremoniously drop lingering angst. Even Madison got over her hatred of Lucy, like, why even bother doing that? It's getting really ridiculous with Mike in particular. It definitely seems like Taeshi understands the appeal of Mike getting to brood a bit, too, which makes it really weird that this is the one whim of hers that never seems to make it into the comic.
The sperg Mike era wasn't good, but I keep finding myself comparing it favorably to what we have now. Mike was allowed to hold onto his beef with his friends over always favoring Lucy, and I did kind of like seeing him really visibly depressed, like at Daisy's party. It's weird how Eternal Flame triggered this upward shift in his general mood when things arguably got worse for him.

Keeping Mike in-character would mean replacing his Sperg Era self with a cold and jaded version who cut people down as with Lucy in December. It would have served the same narrative purpose (or what passes for it) as Mike would still alienate the others and come to regret his actions.
I can see jaded, but not really cold. If December is our benchmark, he yells and cries through a lot of his rant at Lucy. And prior to that the coldest I can remember him getting is just straight up ignoring Lucy. When he wasn't either ignoring or attempting to be civil with her (giving her cold medicine), he usually seemed at least a little angry. He's just not like Augustus when it comes to the way he attacks people, and I don't think he should be.
As far as the sperg era goes, I think it could've been made way more tolerable if Mike just didn't scream all his rage fits. The screaming in December was a huge break from his prior behavior and was directed towards what he saw as the single biggest source of pain in his life. You barely even need to change the actual dialogue, just dial the rage back. That and cut out most of Mike getting dunked on. If Lucy spent her time pre-December just constantly girlbossing on Mike, then December wouldn't have hit quite as hard. Combined with the comic's status quo fetish, it made it seem less like Mike was a guy hurting his friends and isolating himself and more like he was a nuisance that needed to keep getting swatted down.
High Expectations is imo a good example of how close yet so far the sperg era could be from, at least, competently written Mike. Just take out the headslam and tone down Mike's violent rage after Sandy gets brought up. You don't even really need to change Sue's reaction.

The problem with that plotline was always that Taeshi hadn't actually written it so that the lunch table seemed like they gave a damn about Mike. Mike apparently spent a good chunk of 2008 checked out and barely more engaged than that he'd show up for things you ask him to and they didn't notice until he started sperging out, then they resented him for being annoying. It's a lot like last-stage Daisy/Abbey where Daisy for some reason ignores that Abbey would like his girlfriend to have his back, and when she finally notices (months later) that Abbey is shutting her out of his life she just blames it all on Paulo.

BCB's entire narrative is built upon an assortment of inexplicable stupidities. In a better comic, the extended family would be skeptical of this whole Augustus thing. Lucy's Aunt would either be supportive ("Lucy finally made a friend, miracle of miracles") or the most worried ("For half a year I had a front row seat to this girl's issues and the warning lights are flashing red"). Someone makes a comment that touches off Lucy's hair-trigger fury and she storms out as usual, setting up the driving force behind the chapter's interpersonal conflict.

I've always seen these threads on Cinemaphile and sometimes came in to see some cute art but never cared to read the story. One Track Mind and Link Play actually got me reading along with everyone, and I was enjoying it and the discussions in the threads. This chapter was so good, but seeing it fall to absolute shit toward the end was sad. Now I see that this hateful author does this often. Looks like I won't be reading from the beginning, after all.

This chapter could've ended on a nice note if she just kept Paulo and Co hidden in a bush and let James and Mike end that night agreeing to stay friends, instead it was a ruin every character speedrun challenge.

Of a sort. BCB is ultimately a coping mechanism for Taeshi after certain romantic issues left her chronically insecure. The gist is that her author avatar (Lucy) will triumph over The Other Girl (Sandy) in ways that Taeshi herself never did. A route was at least partially planned out a decade or more in advance, but Taeshi has dawdled along and indulged her personal whims so often that said plan no longer works. But she presses on toward the end goal regardless, logic and narrative satisfaction be damned. Of course, given the cultivated nature of her audience and the satisfaction she gets from tormenting Mike, Taeshi has reason to take her time. No one but her actually wants to see Lucy win the Mike bowl, after all.

What would make the most sense is that Daisy is just desperate for validation and Paulo is the most available guy she knows. Which COULD be an interesting plot were they both to recognize that, evolve, then get together under better circumstances.

I think that might actually be the direction she intends to take Daisy, if only because Taeshi never seems to portray her and Paulo's relationship in a positive light, whether in the comic or in side-materials.
I think she has that bias thing where she spent so much time defending Paulo from Abbey and rationalizing why he did the things he does that she's stuck with him because otherwise she's admitting she was wrong. Paulo uasnt been a "jerk with a heart of gold" for a good while

See, that has actual entertainment potential. The problem--or, well, *a* problem--with BCB is that character conflict is kept at this very basic level best outlined as "refusing to follow destiny." No further thought is put into it. Characters suffer when they do not submit to their fate and all problems are magically undone once they cave. So nothing else really matters and once you see the truth it is hard to stay invested because you know what you are reading is meaningless meandering bullshit.

It's really annoying how often the comic tends to just unceremoniously drop lingering angst. Even Madison got over her hatred of Lucy, like, why even bother doing that? It's getting really ridiculous with Mike in particular. It definitely seems like Taeshi understands the appeal of Mike getting to brood a bit, too, which makes it really weird that this is the one whim of hers that never seems to make it into the comic.
The sperg Mike era wasn't good, but I keep finding myself comparing it favorably to what we have now. Mike was allowed to hold onto his beef with his friends over always favoring Lucy, and I did kind of like seeing him really visibly depressed, like at Daisy's party. It's weird how Eternal Flame triggered this upward shift in his general mood when things arguably got worse for him.

The only one who didn't change at all was Mike, who got punished for trying to stand up, and now is a literal cuck
Keeping Mike in-character would mean replacing his Sperg Era self with a cold and jaded version who cut people down as with Lucy in December. It would have served the same narrative purpose (or what passes for it) as Mike would still alienate the others and come to regret his actions.
I can see jaded, but not really cold. If December is our benchmark, he yells and cries through a lot of his rant at Lucy. And prior to that the coldest I can remember him getting is just straight up ignoring Lucy. When he wasn't either ignoring or attempting to be civil with her (giving her cold medicine), he usually seemed at least a little angry. He's just not like Augustus when it comes to the way he attacks people, and I don't think he should be.
As far as the sperg era goes, I think it could've been made way more tolerable if Mike just didn't scream all his rage fits. The screaming in December was a huge break from his prior behavior and was directed towards what he saw as the single biggest source of pain in his life. You barely even need to change the actual dialogue, just dial the rage back. That and cut out most of Mike getting dunked on. If Lucy spent her time pre-December just constantly girlbossing on Mike, then December wouldn't have hit quite as hard. Combined with the comic's status quo fetish, it made it seem less like Mike was a guy hurting his friends and isolating himself and more like he was a nuisance that needed to keep getting swatted down.
High Expectations is imo a good example of how close yet so far the sperg era could be from, at least, competently written Mike. Just take out the headslam and tone down Mike's violent rage after Sandy gets brought up. You don't even really need to change Sue's reaction.

The problem with that plotline was always that Taeshi hadn't actually written it so that the lunch table seemed like they gave a damn about Mike. Mike apparently spent a good chunk of 2008 checked out and barely more engaged than that he'd show up for things you ask him to and they didn't notice until he started sperging out, then they resented him for being annoying. It's a lot like last-stage Daisy/Abbey where Daisy for some reason ignores that Abbey would like his girlfriend to have his back, and when she finally notices (months later) that Abbey is shutting her out of his life she just blames it all on Paulo.

Chapter went to shit so rape posting took over + There are no healthy relationships in the comic so a majority of the porn is going to be negative as well + Every character is insufferably awful so people want them to suffer, it hasn't been going on so long to justify being this annoyed by it and as soon as something actually happens it'll die down again.
The rape posting wasn't nearly as prevalent before Taeshi ruined James X Mike for the wholesome homos, either the thread dies or the rape posting stays.

Can't say I've noticed the trend, but I don't think it's exactly the same. It draws more attention to the way the victim feels than to the act itself, for one. I'd also assume it can also be used to talk about other types of assault than just rape. Looking at it that way, seems like the right word for the pic in the post you're replying to.

For Mike and Lucy I wouldn't know how since Lucy came out of a suicide attempt unscathed and Mike was literally ghosted, cheated on, broken up with and yet he kept the status quo from tearing apart
For years I thought that Mike getting cheated on and having an honest heart to heart with Lucy would be a way to put him back on track, but then it happened and it didn't matter, I don't even know where Mike's story is supposed to go from here or what he needs.
For a second I thought it was a friend, but he seems to like Paulo again.
And for a woman who likes to think she's a feminist Taeshi's boiled Lucy's entire character down to whether or not Mike is available to frick her, it's the beginning and end of her storyline.

I got genuine whiplash going from James pulling Mike singlehandedly out of sleepy-eye'd depression to Mike lovingly resting his head on Paulo's shoulder after he tried to ruin said friendship.
I have no idea what Taeshi was thinking with the Paulo/James shit. It just made it look like Paulo wasn't really interested in James, he just resented Mike. Paulo being a two-faced bastard is pretty well established at this point I guess, but you'd think she'd stop doubling down on it.
Whatever big plot thing is coming up next must require Mike and Paulo to be really buddy-buddy. It was weird when Paulo just instantly got over being mad at Mike at the end of Eternal Flame, and the whole thing has stayed weird. I guess it lasting this long is better than when Mutual Assurance got instantly undone.
Interestingly I think Paulo is only nice to Mike to his face? Like he threatens to drop him in that talk with Lucy, he mentions beating him up or something in that anime filler chapter where he's mad at nerds, and he malds about the James thing so hard that he ends up stalking them with David.

That'd explain why Taeshi speedrun Paulo and Lucy fighting again, but what could possibly spur on this conflict now that we know Paulo knows Lucy tried to commit jump building, and Taeshi explicitly chose to have Lucy not ask for them to drop Mike
