Emotional labor is when you have to act contrary to your true feelings out because of some kind of obligation, like wagies having to smile as they deal with the public. Lucy and Paulo have never engaged in emotional labor, but Mike's relationship with both of them is heavily rooted in it.
Both do seem exhausting to deal with. Mike wants to be friends with both of them for some reason, but I wonder if putting up some basic barriers to keep himself sane would render that impossible.
We see what happens when Mike does try to set up boundaries, they're either disregarded or trigger a meltdown or both. The entire post-Acapulco arc is a recurring cycle of Mike becoming more distant, Lucy getting distraught about it and then acting like a c**t which makes Mike even more distant until she'd burned up his patience with her shit and he decided to go no contact on her.
The vacation arc featured a Mike who no longer believed a true friendship with Lucy was possible so I wouldn't count that. By putting up boundaries I mean that A) Mike desires their friendship yet B) does not cave to their bullshit.
Realistically the answer is no. Mike is too neurotically agreeable to be able to hold up against the pressure they'd put on him until they'd crossed a red line. Kind of got the impression that Mike sticks with Sandy in the future timelines because he likes being married to a stranger who isn't around enough to have expectations of him.
Mike got together with Sandy because he desperately wants someone who at least plausibly gives an honest frick about him. It's why he fought so hard against the idea she was cheating on and taking him for granted.
