I think we can reasonably expect the overall obsession with the comic to wax and wane according to the concurrent level of absurdity and/or anger induction. Right now it's just another reminder that Paulo has feelings and that probably does not enthrall most of us here.
As a longtime reader from 09, I feel it. 1 day a week schedule really kills any sort of excitement that could build, and it's a slow chapter to boot.
Boring chapter paired with one-update-weekly will do that. There were points when I was obsessed too but it usually involved points where it felt like the story was at least going somewhere with shipping drama.
Slice-of-life chapters like this are probably fine for a binge-read but not really bringing in readers for a slow release format like this.

I like the idea but how would she go about doing so? Mike has a fairly high tolerance for mistreatment nowadays and is quick to forgive. As with the rest of the group, Sue has been trained to take that for granted.
Sue says something like "Lucy was right about you" and sees Mike crumble before her eyes. Mike can take the "haha your girlfriend is fricking other men" jokes but when it comes to Lucy he's still quite raw. Maybe she says it right in front of his new track friends, he's petrified of his track friends finding out about his past. He leaves before she can apologise and it eats her up inside for a while.
But would Sue care at that point? For her to say something like that to Mike's would mean she is angry and disgusted toward him. She would be seeing him as an enemy, not a friend. Sue never showed any sort of sympathy or regret toward Mike until he broke down and apologized for his behavior toward the table, and we still don't know how much of that will stick.
Oh boy, I know that Mike is too nice and forgiving but even her immediate apology would not fix THAT, combo'd with "nearly ruining last nice thing that he just recently got" in his eyes. Would probably even leave their gaming group and go solo in mmo. But as another anon said, she would say THAT only if she really meant it, and if she did, would she even try to fix bridge she herself set ablaze or just take Lucy side?
I think maybe the one thing that would make Sue 180 is for her to finish tearing Mike down and then immediately be proven wrong on all counts. That or get lambasted by Lucy over it since Sue cares so much about her approval. But I suspect that would only get her to tolerate Mike for the sake of appearances.

I suspect, given Taeshi's attraction to pottery, that Mike is fated to be the one who helps Lucy get over that fear. Though things are so utterly fricked between them that I have no idea how Taeshi intends to pull that off.

The new pile of friends is helping him get better and stop thinking that being miserable is normal. Not fast enough, but still making progress. Black Scarf Mike doesn't need to be Emo though that is an option. What I mean by Black Scarf Mike is a Mike that has basically given up on everything but above all else given up on being a better person. This can take many forms Emo simply being one of them.
I am skeptical that the track team will feature in any meaningful capacity again but would welcome a pleasant surprise. Meanwhile Paulo never seems to learn any permanent life lessons so I expect him to piss all over Mike in the in-comic near future.
