I get the vibe that Paulo likes how accepting and supportive Mike is, which is one of the reasons he holds Daisy in such high regard. But at the same time Mike is a total weenus who Paulo has bullied out of jealousy for most of their so-called friendship. I think that Paulo also perceives Mike as the main obstacle between himself and Lucy, either by existing or causing Lucy's breakdown. There are a lot of conflicting emotions in play here.

It would have to be the latter. Mike has never shown any positive attraction toward Paulo. The one time Mike thought that Paulo might be be into him provoked a negative reaction.
This is BPD the comic Mike could get horny for orange cat for no reason at any point and it would be in line
Though Mike feeling bad so he forces himself to kiss a guy he doesn't find attractive is hotter
And let's be honest... Isn't this the ONLY direction the comic could without introducing more characters now?
It's been the "Mike and Paulo: Sadboy hours" for more than two years now, all the other characters fell from the face of the earth and feel more like special guests in every issue than actual charactes. There is literally nothing else you could do with Lucy and Daisy. Mike and Paulo's relationship is horrible... But it also feels like the only relationship remaining in the comic
Paulo X Mike is the soap opera move to go, it's terrible, comes out of nowhere, makes everyone unhappy, generates DECADES of drama with all the other characters for generations and gives Taeshi woke points as a extra

Also, writer of It's Forbidden here. Chapter 6 is on the works now, it might end up being the biggest chapter so far, as I'm going to close a bunch of storylines so far.
Mike and Haley home situation. Mike and Jasmine situation. Their family situation. What's going on with Paulo. And probably also Lucy.
I haven't decided what happen to Lucy, if she gets a happy, sad or neutral ending.
Neither for Paulo, but for him, I think his mom will get what is coming to her, that's the general ide
This blatant exposition is irritating. I'd rather have a page spent on something interesting than a page about the things we already understand from the context.
Something about the way Lucy goes from a tomboyish tsundere who hates male attention to a hypersexual waif just to push the PauloxLucy storyline makes my skin crawl >Vol 1
Whoa jerkface, did you just GRAB MY HAND >Vol 2
Lol here's a freebie, go ahead and grope my ass because you talked to me for a couple minutes
It's weird and kind of creepy, both in and out of universe.
Again, Lucy as a character comes across like a manipulative creep who near-compulsively lies and emotionally abuses her friends. The only alternative is if she's so profoundly crazy she can't be considered responsible for her own actions.
Yeah, I've been wondering if Lucy 'forgetting' to tell Mike about Paulo saving their lives for years was supposed to be deceptive
Lucy could be a very compelling character if she was forced to confront her worst aspects, which I wager she tries very hard to ignore or excuse away. Her self-critiques so far have been very surface level and only seem to come up when convenient for her.

She's only semi-reasonable when people feather-bed it for her. Like how she admitted she'd been a huge b***h only when Sandy was out of the picture, and only for the pre-December stuff. She'll never apologize for making a crack about how she'd rather kill herself than talk to Mike where she knew he'd hear her.

>and only seem to come up when convenient for her.
This is the biggest sticking point to me. We've seen Lucy criticize her past self, but only when it helps her in the moment. Usually in the form of justifying her current self, or winning sympathy-points off whoever she's talking to.
Come to think of it, has Lucy ever been shown to restrain herself or back down? I can understand her just following her emotions and impulses back when the comic was set in middle school, but by junior year of high skool I think most kids have learnt at least a little self-control.

>has Lucy ever been shown to restrain herself or back down?
Uhhhh... there was that time she was nice to everyone because she was going to kill herself in a couple hours. That was about as good as Lucy gets.
So honestly, again - why does ANYONE like this comic? It's really so bland and basic with puddle-deep characters, no resolution, forced melodrama and "representation" at every turn with no substance.
It's basically the same tired, old boring shit that Taeshi happily feeds her paypiggies. How long can this go on? I mean, is the reason people like it so much because 1) autism 2) actual children 3) psychos into the toxic traits of the characters?
Taeshi never deserved such a fanbase or so much attention to her half-baked shitty characters from when she was like 12 and whose she's used as a crutch well into her 30s.
Mostly character sympathy or self-insertion. >Lucy for horrid b***hes and other dysfunctional types who want a power fantasy >Mike is easy to feel sorry for when outside of the sperg age >Paulo has pretensions of character development >Daisy...uh maybe for unpopular fat girls?
I think Daisy appeals to people who are selfish, but want to see themselves as all uwu and nice.
She's basically "nice girls finish last, guys only want b***hes".
She slapped Abbey for complaining about Paulo, treated Mike like shit on Halloween, and generally gets pissy and resentful still when things don't go her way.
And when she notices attractive attributes that someone else has, or someone around her is getting all of the attention that she wants. Bonus points if you don't remember her from that time you were 3 or 4 years old.
The Abbey slap is more in line with abusive double-standards while Daisy I believe yelled at Mike after he did the same to her...? Daisy does get pissy when not getting her way, but I find her reasons to be more understandable than when the Great White b***h does it.

We're talking about why Taeshi is revisiting ancient plotpoints now of all times.
She's both. She's sullenly resentful when things don't go her way while doing nothing to make things turn out like she wants. If she does get what she wants she takes it for granted, starts fantasizing about something else and becomes intensely resentful when people disturb her happy bubble.

I think the Vacation Arc was the point when the comic struck a decent balance between the old silly slice of life stuff and a newer dramatic take on old events. While the plotpoint has overstayed its welcome and degenerated into a messy plot tumor, recontextualizing Lucy's tsundere behavior and Mike's longsuffering as a toxic relationship was an interesting move. I just wish that Taeshi would have continued that trend instead of dwelling too long on Lucy's suffering and driving herself into a mental breakdown.
Would Mike's V-card count? Or who would be on top?

Someone edit panel 5 to make Paulo look angrily and Mike while making a fist
I bet Paulo's 7 year old sister cries less often than he does.
The twist is Mike will be the one to initiate a Paulo kiss to make him feel better
I'd be okay with that if Mike clearly disliked having to do so. The comic does love to recycle ancient plotpoints without end, after all.

There is plenty that can be done with Lucy and Daisy, but Taeshi refuses to try anything new.
There's a lot that can be done with Lucy and Daisy alright but I doubt it'll be interesting within the constraints of BCB canon
>Lucy maxing out the patience of those around her and getting backsass
>Daisy turning manipulative to gain Paulo's affections
Taeshi just doesn't care about girls. When was the last time she wrote a female pov chapter that wasn't about Lucy?
and that's a good thing, honestly.
All the Girl POV chapters fricking SUCK, just as much as the normal guy pov chapters, maybe even more.
That's why we only should have Mike or Lucy POV chapters.
Frick everyone else!
I had a dream I was gay and moronic
Wow using my name! If you’re going to call me that just say it to my face this is Cinemaphile after all
fr
God I hate Paulo.
At least Lucy is hot and rapeable.
Is this still the same day from James date?
No it’s New Year’s Eve
Damn, Paulo is having it rough, but Mike ain't doing better, looking so tired in second panel. So far only Lucy is having an okay New Year (unless she's putting in an act)
Lucy does not deserve happiness.
Fat cow will get her comeuppance one day...
All she really needs to do is see Mike. Lucy can't fight her feelings on gray cat.
Maaaan, Lucy really needs to have her fat breasts fondled, I swear to god.
Lucy should be rewarded for being the first person to realize the lunch table is toxic, even if she was part of the problem.
Lucy never had any such epiphany. She just doesn't think they'll keep licking her ass to eternity and back because of Mike's December speech.
Trash thread up:
I'm going to repost what I posted there for the ones not interested in the /trash/ thread (It isn't that active today).
Why no kissing?
This blatant exposition is irritating. I'd rather have a page spent on something interesting than a page about the things we already understand from the context.
I want to rape Lucy.
Calm down, Alejandro
Sometimes when I have both the Cinemaphile and /trash/ threads open I forget which is which.
PxL was creepy as frick
Lucy deserved it
Lucy loved it
Something about the way Lucy goes from a tomboyish tsundere who hates male attention to a hypersexual waif just to push the PauloxLucy storyline makes my skin crawl
>Vol 1
Whoa jerkface, did you just GRAB MY HAND
>Vol 2
Lol here's a freebie, go ahead and grope my ass because you talked to me for a couple minutes
Almost like she's a BPD b***h who drives people away with her bullshit and then tries to reel them back in with sex.
That's just Lucy getting desperate. She usually can fall back on Mike but suddenly can't and it throws her for a loop.
What happened to the funny/horny edit guy?
he became an hero
He became a hero? Like a firefighter?
Depends, if the firefighter died in a fire, then yes.
He was too good for this comic, i think Dark Horse may have hired him
So honestly, again - why does ANYONE like this comic? It's really so bland and basic with puddle-deep characters, no resolution, forced melodrama and "representation" at every turn with no substance.
It's basically the same tired, old boring shit that Taeshi happily feeds her paypiggies. How long can this go on? I mean, is the reason people like it so much because 1) autism 2) actual children 3) psychos into the toxic traits of the characters?
Taeshi never deserved such a fanbase or so much attention to her half-baked shitty characters from when she was like 12 and whose she's used as a crutch well into her 30s.
Habit. I'm going to probably dip after next page until Taeshi brings back the track team.
Mostly character sympathy or self-insertion.
>Lucy for horrid b***hes and other dysfunctional types who want a power fantasy
>Mike is easy to feel sorry for when outside of the sperg age
>Paulo has pretensions of character development
>Daisy...uh maybe for unpopular fat girls?
I think Daisy appeals to people who are selfish, but want to see themselves as all uwu and nice.
She's basically "nice girls finish last, guys only want b***hes".
Has Daisy been all that selfish in the last decade or just blandly passive and nice?
Being more reasonable than Lucy is an incredibly low bar
They are both teenage girls so there is not a lot of head room to begin with.
>Daisy makes more sense than Little Miss "I didn't want it"
That's because Daisy might be a shallow b***h, but she's more honest about it. Lucy's so wrapped up in lies you can't tell what she's thinking.
Daisy does not strike me as being more honest about it. Her sudden bisexuality and no longer crushing on Mike look extremely suspect and come across as basic copium.
>oh wow i totally embarrassed myself with that kiss BUT ACTUALLY it showed me Paulo was my one true love and therefore was a good thing YEAH
>no i didn't actually want Mikie all those years it was because i really wanted Sandy even though i have only ever lusted after boys
Daisy's bisexuality came up right around when taeshi accepted hers
bump
Which is funny because it sure reads like Daisy is overdiagnosing herself. Especially because we haven't seen Miss Boy Crazy ever feel the same way toward any girl. All we have are Daisy's statements which could be read as blatant lies.
I thought she hated Mike because Sandy totally ignored her in favor of him? Like she didn't have Sandy's attention period and felt tossed aside. That seems at odds with this interpretation of events.
>Taeshi retconning the story to suit her moods in the moment
Not the first time, won't be the last. The real stumper is why she's stuck on story beats from her earliest drafts when she completely cuts the legs out from under them.
Probably because she re-did volume one, so those story beats are relatively fresher in her head. She otherwise does not appear to re-read her own work.
No, that's Lucy. Mike and Daisy were never really that close. Daisy resented Mike for a while for taking away her best friend and gay lover Sandy.
Things like removing the copious amounts of normalised sexual harassment isn't that problematic. She purged fan characters but I don't think she retconned anything important.
>No, that's Lucy.
It was a plot beat for the both of them. Sandy and Mike took each other from Lucy and Daisy respectively.
>I don't think she retconned anything important
We're talking about why Taeshi is revisiting ancient plotpoints now of all times.
She's both. She's sullenly resentful when things don't go her way while doing nothing to make things turn out like she wants. If she does get what she wants she takes it for granted, starts fantasizing about something else and becomes intensely resentful when people disturb her happy bubble.
I miss proactive bawd Daisy from volume 1. She was interesting.
>I miss volume 1

I think the Vacation Arc was the point when the comic struck a decent balance between the old silly slice of life stuff and a newer dramatic take on old events. While the plotpoint has overstayed its welcome and degenerated into a messy plot tumor, recontextualizing Lucy's tsundere behavior and Mike's longsuffering as a toxic relationship was an interesting move. I just wish that Taeshi would have continued that trend instead of dwelling too long on Lucy's suffering and driving herself into a mental breakdown.
Please have a nice day Paulo, please do it. You are worthless and there is no point to continue. No one will ever have your back. Just END IT
>No one will ever have your back.
I do wonder what it would take for Mike to truly give up on Paulo, because he sure as hell seems determined not to.
I can’t wait. I need to see a panel of Paulo offing himself
I'm sure Paulo will feel better again after he takes another characters virginity
Lucy was so desperate she tried to rape Augustus. Now there is Paulo and Mike. It's like pottery, it rhymes.
No frick that. I need good wank material. I need to see Paulo crying his eyes out and then see his brains splatter or something a few panels later
Would Mike's V-card count? Or who would be on top?
If only we could see more of what is going on in cat's heads, but alas it's rare nowaday
Mike's been the bottom in every sexual encounter but one in his life, why would gay sex be any different
At least he's gotten better at it. Maybe Sue should give him a go.
Sue is for her fellow nerds and geeks. Like Mike, Abbey, or even Amaya.
>"or" instead of "and"
Sharing fellow gamer group's leader
Well the nerd gang does need a way to deal with all their stress and anger. I just hope Sue is up to the task.
I'm hoping for some sort of accident to happen, maybe Paulo getting run over by a car (and dying) or Mike getting hit by a car (and surviving) he won't be able to use his arms and Lucy will have to help him pee, that seems on brand!
