Not quite. Lucy's dad used to drive races and stunts during the day, but by night he was the best getaway driver in the state. Lucy's mom loved the "dangerous man of mystery" vibe he had, but the cartel didn't want their best hoe getting involved with their best driver. After bloodying the cartel's lip and running to another state, they relaxed and got wienery.

It's an alright page. Would've been nice to see Mike and Sandy have conversations like this a few times before she dumped him. It shouldn't be happening now, though, because they never should've gotten back together. I don't know what additional lessons Mike has to learn before he makes the obviously correct choice. Seems like it's just a waiting game, like when is the plot going to delobotomize Mike.

Not quite. Lucy's dad used to drive races and stunts during the day, but by night he was the best getaway driver in the state. Lucy's mom loved the "dangerous man of mystery" vibe he had, but the cartel didn't want their best hoe getting involved with their best driver. After bloodying the cartel's lip and running to another state, they relaxed and got wienery.
That's the real reason why Alejandro is so interested in Lucy. He knows that if he can catch and break the daughter of the only two people who ever humiliated the southwest chapter's Don and got away with it, he'll have enough clout with the underworld to be set for life.

Moments that really stick out to me in your fic's are when Lucy struggles to do something because of her height, like trying to keep up with Mike's walking pace, or needing to stand on something up to clean in high places. Call me autistic but highlighting that physical disadvantage she's at really emphasises her vulnerability in the situations she's getting into, and I hope we get to see more. Looking forward to more from you.

It's an alright page. Would've been nice to see Mike and Sandy have conversations like this a few times before she dumped him. It shouldn't be happening now, though, because they never should've gotten back together. I don't know what additional lessons Mike has to learn before he makes the obviously correct choice. Seems like it's just a waiting game, like when is the plot going to delobotomize Mike.

I can believe Mike already thinks the worse from Sandy and hearing that is just stating something he already suspected. The fact Mike is actually talking about the logic of Sandy coming back tells he's not that invested, where he would usually make the excuses himself to love her blindly he's trying to poke at her and see if the Sandy he wants to drop rears her face
This comic was more interesting when the main conflict was Mike and Lucy not being honest with each other about their feelings rather than some generic pretty girl that lives forever away being the wedge.
Strongly agreed. The comic could still be decent while dealing with their broken relationship if Mike had more self-respect and Lucy wasn't a raging Mary Sue. But that would require Taeshi to not be utterly obsessed with this Goldie nonsense.

A Mike suicide arc would inevitably feed into the Mike x Lucy endgame. Because if Lucy were to save Mike from himself it'd immediately build a bridge between them, and give them something to talk about. And secondly it'd give something that Mike and Lucy could bond over, trying and failing to commit suicide.
It could work in a non-shit way, but only if Lucy can't save him easily. It would probably have to be some protracted scenario in which she shoves herself out of her comfort zone to build him back up, not just a one-off that steals Mike's heart. Of course the fans would throw a huge b***hfit.

I prefer almost all the older art styles over this one. For some unfathomable reason, Taeshi decided the second to worst art style in the entire comic was the one to settle on forever onward.

Personally I'd say the original chibi style. Such a bizarre choice that looks awful while the washed-out watercolors remind everyone of what Taeshi abandoned.
I remember when that first happened. It was so jarring, everyone was like "whoa what's going on with the anatomy in this panel?" not knowing that this was gonna be a permanent thing. SuitCase had to write a post about how this is just the style Tae wants to go with now. And if I recall he was really annoyed that people were surprised and talking about it so negatively. It was just bizarre all around.
