Be honest?

What annoying habit did you pick up from cinemasins videos? For me it is labeling every character eating an apple as an "butthole"

RLM was nowhere near as popular as Cinema Sins at its peak

I meant their generational cohort, like Simon Pegg and Kevin Smith, not necessarily RLM. Overanalazing nerd shit like star wars and star trek was their bread and butter, and the whole internet took after them.

but they invented the format. cinemasins is basically a cross between plinkett reviews and that prometheus video where they make moron faces and keep asking "what is the black goo?", except without the ironic detachment.

Remember that time they criticized It Follows for having minor continuity errors, completely missing the point that the continuity errors were deliberate and were meant to give the movie a surreal quality?

    >"I'm not concerned with plausibility; that's the easiest part of it, so why bother? Do you remember that lengthy scene in 'The Birds' in which the people are talking about the birds? In that group there is a woman who is precisely a specialist on the subject of birds, an ornithologist. She happens to be there by pure chance! Naturally, I could have made up three scenes just to give that woman a logical reason for being there, but they would have been completely uninteresting."

    >"To insist that a storyteller stick to the facts is just as ridiculous as to demand of a representative painter that he show objects accurately. What's the ultimate in representative painting? Color photography. Don't you agree? There's quite a difference, you see, between the creation of a film and the making of a documentary. In the documentary the basic material has been created by God, whereas in the fiction film the director is the god; he must create life. And in the process of that creation, there are lots of feelings, forms of expression, and viewpoints that have to be juxtaposed. We should have total freedom to do as we like, just so long as it's not dull. A critic who talks to me about plausibility is a dull fellow."

The ones from late 2014 and early 2015 were pretty decent. Only after late 2016 did all hell break loose and it quickly started to become unwatchable.

    >be scriptwriter
    >be absolutely fricking terrible at remembering your own chronological events (that you previously wrote)
    >constantly break the logic or rules of your own story (that you made)
    >endlessly insert allegories to modern politics or thinly veiled ideological stances (which are obvious and will date badly) at the expense of what might otherwise be a story that can have value outside of its era
    >write in "emotional" or "impactful" scenes that have the weight of a paper cup; because the world is not convincing, the characters are not relatable, and you spent all your time thinking about putting twitter takes into your script instead of just writing a good story

But don't worry, if people punch holes in your amateurish work, it's because they're nitpicking! Proceed to fail upwards.

Cinemasins was funny when it first came out. Long time ago, I'm not longer a teen so I haven't watched a video in probably a decade it feels like. But I'm seeing a lot of seethe toward the concept
    >um this sin was super arbitrary you can't do that!
    >um in episode 2 and in episode 473 you give a sin for two opposing things!
    >um you gave this black character a sin and not this white one.... racism???
Like are people too stupid to understand it's pretty much all just random, stream of consciousness nitpicking. There's no rhyme or reason to it, he watches the movie, whatever draws his attention is a sin or not

      Anonymous

the problem is that normalgays are too moronic to notice that he's not being serious, and take his criticism as fact, and after watching the video they think "Wow, what an awful film, glad I don't have to watch it now"
