Wtf were they trying to do with this scene? Was Paul Dano trying to outdo Jared Leto & Jesse Eisenberg on who can do a worse villain performance?

Reeves realized that he locked himself in with a villain who does the job of vigilante better than the hero. It's the reason he directs Dano like a maniac in the interrogation scene and the reason why the writers room builds the green militia terrorist attack.

Which furthers the hypocrisy about Batman integrating his shadow due to inspiring vengeance even more. This film is vapid trash and reeves knows it. Any one who actually cares about the mythos, or understands Jungian concepts beyond buzzfeed articles knows that it’s not even comparable with what Nolan did in this regard.

Nolan made Batman quit being Batman because being a vigilante might inspire crime while Reeves had Batman go, "If I continue to be a vigilante, I might as well put my best foot forward for the citizens of the city instead of trying to solely help myself, and I'll alter what I put out into the world so if another copycat comes they won't have anything besides my mere existence to take inspiration from."
Nolan's didn't work because he retconned it. Reeves' works because it's the most Batman response.

I like the Flashpoint aura, but the Batman suit has to be an expression of Batman at the moment. In the movie, the suit carries the man throughout the battlefield. You have a green bat, you have to dress it in modestly.

What the frick was Bruce doing for 2 years? He got nothing done, he didn't even know about penguins secret club within the club. Also he never investigated his parents death? They're the reason he became batman this is really dumb. The whole catwoman and falcone plot is truly awful and shit.

People here hate Nolan, but at least bruce used stealth and gadgets and head good memes and setpieces. Where did all the money go in this movie? Dark as frick and the action is small scale and boring.

            Anonymous

Bruce was fighting small scale crime because he only cared about fighting street crime since street crime took his parents away.
If this Bruce was exactly how Nolan's was you homosexuals would say it copied Nolan. It's never good enough for you contrarians.

            >due to the large amount of buildings higher than the Iceberg Lounge
There weren't that buildings and you could easily find the apartment analyzing the pictures. You're the one moronic here. Same with having the police investigating the fricking website the Riddler is recruiting and planning shit on. Or having someone bodyguarding the fricking DA after the mayor and police chief where killed. Or any number of moronic shit that happened in the movie.

There were a ton of buildings, you don't know the GCPD didn't investigate the website after they found it in the apartment, and the D.A. and Commissioner were killed the same night so the GCPD would be more busy with that murder than bodyguarding the D.A.

This bruce has literally 0 personality so how could anyone compare him to Nolans? Again he did nothing to investigate his parents death, this makes 0 sense.

It's like the car chase scene. Penguin causes a pile up and kills god knows how many people, yet batman and Gordon let him go right after. They have his drug den, dead body in henchman's trunk and motorway pile up but they let him go? The frick is this movie.

Bruce opinion is subjective. I thought he had more of a personality than Bale's Bruce.
They let Penguin go because he would've gotten right out. Falcone and Kenzie still had power in the system so arresting him would've been pointless.

                >Falcone and Kenzie still had power in the system so arresting him would've been pointless.
This is not how the justice systems works this is just silly comic book movie nonsense like Kingpin owning half the fbi. The movie wants to be realistic but also comic book stupid when it wants to. If this is the case then bruce should kill them and be done with it. Makes no sense for him to waste his time catching criminals just for them to be let out again. This movie just makes bruce look dumb when you think about for 10mins.

Is riddler really the bad guy if he's literally exposing all this corruption, actually helping Batman?

                >Never mind his big plan is flood the city and kill the poor, the very people he wished to save.

The fricking system is cleared by the end of it moron, so no, it shouldn't be killed by Batman. And yes it is how it works. If someone owns the people at the top, the system underneath is going to be manipulated.
I've thought about it for days and thats why I have all these points that undo all your gripes.
Riddler planned the flood from the beginning because it wasn't about poor people, it was about himself and his vendetta. The "people pleaser" part was bullshit perpetrated by Riddler to gain followers.
Batman is smart in this film but you want a reason to hate it or you simply didn't get it. Personally, I think it's both.

You say batman is smart? Yet this Black person runs head first into sniper fire without any plan. Also after that pile up that killed god knows how many people, who cleaned it up? You have this massive explosion and its not in the news? This plot just goes away. Also how could the city flood who builds a city like this? Isn't the city built above sea level? Fricking terrible.

It’s to build out her woke character. She doesn’t respect rich people, nor their deaths.

It’s shit writing, period. I only point out that the riddler’s act 3 terrorism plan is paints on head moronic and it’s exceptionally obvious that the writers were trying to match the climax in TDK with the boat scene. Their blatant attempt to create parallels led to them turning the riddler into a joker wannabe, and it ruins the movie.

Not to mention the flood scene lasted entirely too long for how anticlimactic it was.
                >I am the Batman
                >I’m going to save these people at risk of my own life
Was this suppose to be moving or revolutionary or something? The entire sequence was filmed as if it was very inspirational, but in reality it was exceptionally flat.
                >Batman risks his life to save the children
                >but actually isn’t harmed at all
                >neither are the children
Turns out they can swim I guess? It was just an extremely weak climax.

No it’s too long, the villains are uninteresting because they are neither particularly campy nor grounded and gritty, it’s somewhere in a balless middle. The tone of the movie is way too derivative. It feels like a Fincher rip-off.

      Anonymous

Excellent atmosphere in the first half but the plot is stupid. Dano plays the Riddler well but he just isn't written as a compelling villain. Gonna echo and say that it feels like a Fincher ripoff but the attempt at style makes the weak substance stand out. Would have liked it more if it committed to being a Fincher ripoff and did for Se7en what Joker did for King of Comedy.

Batman in Year One, Long Halloween, and Dark Victory doesn't have an invincible armor, knows how to be stealthy, knows to go after the mob and corrupt officials from the start, knows how to fight, and is smart.

So no. The only comic this movie is accurate to is Geoff Johns shitty graphic novels called Earth One where Batman is a moronic rookie because Johns fricking hates Batman character.

Long Halloween and Dark Victory aren't Year Two stories. Year One Batman doesn't get into many gunfights, and even the Silver Age Batman had bulletproof vests. The Batman is stealthy, as noted by the many stealth scenes in the film, and he's a good detective. This Batman goes after corruption in the beginning but on a smaller scale. It's more accurate than any other Batman we've had before.

The movie is fricking dumber than Venom. Venom, for all its stupidity, is sort of self-aware of how stupid it is and rolls with the comedy. The Batman thinks itself to be a serious and smart movie while having one of the dumbest scripts i have ever seen.

The whole movie would have ended if the characters did the smart thing every cop would have thought of.

This is the worst fricking argument.
There were fifty buildings taller than the Iceberg Lounge that anyone could've used to take overhead photos of people from.
This is a blatant seethe argument for a smart movie.

          >There were fifty buildings taller than the Iceberg Lounge that anyone could've used to take overhead photos of people from.
AND ANY FRICKING POLICE FORCE WOULD HAVE INVESTIGATED. And if they did they'd have found the Riddler there. The movie even makes a point of showing the Riddler in the window of one of the shots.

The movie is moronic, anon. Alfred opens a ticking mail.

Then that's a shit police force to investigate fifty buildings near a place where photos were taken. Who tf does that? The audience knows The Riddler is there, but why would the cops? No good detective would do that.
You can't hear it tick. You're once again presenting seething arguments for a smart movie.

              >The audience knows The Riddler is there, but why would the cops?
Because the incriminating photos Riddler took of the club all were made from the same vantage point.

Holy frick you're dense. That point is refuted by my first post due to the large amount of buildings higher than the Iceberg Lounge where anyone could take a few photos from multiple times.

                >due to the large amount of buildings higher than the Iceberg Lounge
There weren't that buildings and you could easily find the apartment analyzing the pictures. You're the one moronic here. Same with having the police investigating the fricking website the Riddler is recruiting and planning shit on. Or having someone bodyguarding the fricking DA after the mayor and police chief where killed. Or any number of moronic shit that happened in the movie.

And the police could've easily used a little bit of math to figure out exactly which one the photo was taken from.

When will those california people learn that everyone loves a vigilante who kills.

Yes, of course, the mathematical properties of tree rings.Sunflower seeds. The limbs of galactic spirals. I've learned this with the baht I loved the cross-harmonies between nature and data. You've taught me this. You've made this form of analysis horribly and sadistically precise. But you forgot something along the way.

I don't get it. The whole thing felt like a shitty fan film. The "super smart" detective work amounted to Batman showing up somewhere, someone saying something, and then figuring it out based on what they said. Dumbest shit. Riddler was like the average /misc/tard except somehow more autistic. Nobody had chemistry, and the whole thing was forgettable. If you liked this you bought into marketing bullshit.

    Not especially
It was fine enough in theaters but the movie is too long for it's own good, the decent amount of atmosphere it creates starts to lose it's impact when you're exposed for it for too long, and by the end I was ready for it to finish. If it happened to be on or you were in a strong mood to watch a Batman movie, I'd say give it a shot, but it's not the sort of movie ought to make time to watch ASAP

No. Bad (terrible, in fact) script. Bad costume. Bad casting (even Pattison just doesn't fit, he'd be the perfect Jason Todd though).

      >Bad (terrible, in fact) script.
the script was tight, the frick you talking about even the superfluous parts
      >Bad costume.
the only bad costume i can think of is catwomens. riddlers incel chic suited him well and batmans tactical suit was great
      >Bad casting
pattinson was great as a year 1 batman model

The script was shit. They tried to make the riddler match TDK joker and it shows.

If they would have cut the movie after catching the riddler it would have been much better.

          Anonymous

thats less to do with the script and more down to the actors/ directors choice on how it should be portrayed

            Anonymous

are you really trying to imply the incel terrorism plot line wasn’t in the script?

it’s incredible how they can take the only villain in Batman that is 1000% an antisocial freak, and turn him into an inspirational leader similar to joker.
I don’t think the writers even understand the characters of the Batman villains. The portrayal of the penguin was very lame as well, especially considering how prevalent he is in some of the comics and cartoons. He should have been falcone, not his underling.

This .The movi last act was way too long and the bomb on the neck made no sense. Also why is the riddler trying to kill in noncent people by flooding the city? Most citizen of gotham are too clueless to even know who does what and on top is army of 4chin all have gun training and cant kill one person in the audience.i mean at that that point i knew it was a big pile of shit.
