>Be me, physical media collector
>Try and talk about physical media on Cinemaphile for months now
>Every time I end up getting made fun of for collecting physical media
>Only other people who collect it are usually literal reddit soiboy homosexuals
>MFW I realize I fricked up and now have to try and sell all my physical media
It's fricking over. I don't know shit about torrenting as I've always just consoomed physical media. Should I just sell my entire physical movie collection?
UFOs Are A Psyop Shirt $21.68 |
>physical media collector
>he fell for the consoom meme
I tried selling mine and nobody wants it...
Sell to each other.
just keep the movies that you really love, but know that they'll never be worth anything probably.
How do I watch films once I stop buying physical shit? I refuse to be a streaming service cuck, and I don't know anything about torrents as I used to just use physical media instead.
>go to torrent site
>get torrent
You have to set up some shit first don't you? Like have a VPN or something?
>Like have a VPN or something?
Depends on how cucked of a country you live in. I live in a nordic country, I torrent everything I watch, and I've never used a VPN
If you're in some third world country, I've heard they don't care.
Here in Germany I know people who got slapped with a $1000 fine for torrenting. I use a VPN.
Torrenting _per se_ is not illegal. You can learn how torrents "work" and get your basic setup working by downloading legal stuff, such as Linux ISOs or other non-copyrighted material.
Once you've done that, when you turn on the VPN, it's the same thing, except your data gets sent to the VPN host who then forwards your requests to the internet.
This means two things:
1) All the data you sent to your VPN is encrypted (your ISP does not know what your're sending/downloading, only that you use a VPN)
2) All data sent to you goes through your VPN, meaning the internet only sees your VPN as uploading/downloading data, meaning your actual IP (and thus your identity) remains hidden
*Also, VPN is a bit a misnomer, it's rather used and meant as an "encrypted anonymous proxy" on the internet as opposed to what a "real" VPN is actually used for (corporate stuff) in real life.
Public trackers are dead. Start here https://www.reddit.com/r/trackers/ and rent a seedbox.
Public tracker user here, this is a private tracker gay trying to get you to use his shit, public trackers are better than ever.
Name one good public tracker. They're all yify rips. Rarbg was the last real one.
Rargb
>ugh torrenting, you have to set some shit up first though right?
>orders from 12 different websites for 12 different VHS's
>orders a new bookshelf to contain it all
>has a 6 hour argument on facebook marketplace with a karen who wont sell a hot item
>wraps his entire collection in cling film and dust's it every 2 days
you are so moronic it hurts
I don't do any of that?
>Find movie I enjoy
>buy it on ebay
Lmao
>find movie you enjoy
>download it on piratebay
i am literally jerking off and laughing right now at the thought of some fat americ**t wasting all his money on physical media, complaining about getting bullied online and complaining all his peers are fat americ**ts
look in the mirror holy shit lmao
You sound like you are seething about something lmao
meant for
You're better off just doing free streaming if you're worried about fines from your ISP.
gomovies.sx
It takes under ten minutes to learn how to torrent.
I used to know how to torrent now no one is seeding anything anymore.
Now i just find screeners on chink websites
Just use a free streaming website.
>"NOOOOOOO I'M TOO COOL TO CLICK OFF A COUPLE POP-UP ADS BEFORE THE VIDEO STARTS"
then idk have a nice day I guess
You will own nothing and be happy.
You will need the internet to enjoy kino.
I don't understand physical media collectors. Do these people plan on watching every film they buy multiple times?
Yes.
why tho
Yes...kosh voice...plus dubbing, and extras and behind the scenes click moments and Henry 'tv party 2 night'
At least your country still have physical media
The only people who collect physical media are people who still live with their parents. Most people who live alone know the preciousness of space
If you live alone it doesn't matter. You just work around whatever problems you create in your homespace. My toilet is clogged so I piss in the shower drain and save my shits for when I go out. I can shit in a bag if it's an emergency. It's when you live with other people that things become problems.
>average collector carries his shit in a bag
makes sense
Please be real
That seems like a lot more effort than getting a $5 plunger
i live alone in a very small apartment and i collect physical media so you can shut the frick up
That's because you're one of those soiboy Reddit gays
Sell it on reddit and stay there.
If you're not on private torrent sites, torrenting sucks ass. It's only good when every film is seeded and you can get literally anything that's been released on DVD, Blu-Ray or 4K. Private chads rise up.
collect whatever you want bro. i collect physical video games, but movies are just so easy to pirate and store that I don't care about collecting blurays or dvds or whatever.
>Be Me, techno zoomie with too much money

>Convince the family that we will kill all subscriptions and only use FAST content for our massive Plex library
>Projected to saves the family $1500+ a year in subscriptions
>Purchase 2x24tb HDDs and 2x 8Tb U.2 Enterprise grade SSD's(thanks for going out of business intel, I loved the massive discount!), with 2 2TB NVME's as cache
>Buy dozens of Blu-rays every month with 4K UHD+Movies Anywhere support for $5-15 on Amazon and eBay.
>When I buy it once, I own it forever, across 3 different mediums, at least.
>techno zoomie with too much money
gayest self description ive read
Is physical media really that bad? Why does Cinemaphile hate it?
Cinemaphile is full of zoomers who think everything will simply always exist uncensored without being painstakingly preserved.
It's ultimately a pointless endeavor.
Think about it, there existed people who spent tens of thousands of dollars on VHS tapes only for the format became irrelevant, and their "collection" worthless.
Same for people who's have a collection of 480p-720p DVDs. 1080p Blu-rays are already being phased out and replaced by 2160p.
TV manufacturers are pushing for 8K.
Was of fricking time "collecting" this depreciating garbage.
>TV manufacturers are pushing for 8K.
That's pretty much over. More and more TV manufacturers are quitting 8K because it's failing to catch on. They'll find some other thing to push instead.
>depreciating garbage.
i sold my crt, vcr, and vhs collection to some zoomer "retro" collector for $1500 earlier this year.
>literal reddit basedboys homosexuals
Has it not dawned on you yet?
I buy physical media as well. But not to collect it.. i usually watch it.
Being this concerned about what others think about you is worse than being a reddit basedboy.
I still buy dvds. I would rather spend money on something once, than spend a monthly fee for all streaming services cause the movie you wanted to watch was taken off Netflix months ago. Don’t see what all the fuss is about. And I get all my shit from secondhand shops so I buy like dozens of good movies dirt cheap.
Are you one of those gays that buys vinyl records too?
I gave up on physical media, jts a digital file anyway. Now i just download 4k/1080p remux files on different drives. Same thing, leas space.
What if I like how physical media looks?
I did too, but again, way too much space needed.
The only appeal of DVDs is the extra features Netflix or pirates don't bother uploading
https://twitter.com/maxfolkmax/status/1046841322789732352?lang=en
Physical media is the 140+ IQ choice. Why would you pay a monthly fee to watch a movie you could pay $5 for one time?
you have to be 18 to post here
But le heckin' piracy!? It's based because my fellow redditors said so!
The option is not physical or streaming. I wish there was a service that sold remuxes.
What the frick is a remuxe and how does it work? Just buy a VPN and download movies or some shit?
do you have any rare films or not
>make thread crying about cyberbullying because of your gay hobby
>anons offer up the same alternatives that have existed for years
>OP autistically replies to every suggestion with NO!
i dont know if you're trying to make collectors look like badass diehard enthusiasts but in reality you look like what you are, a giant dribblebaby with no actual hobbies
love plastic
discs, boxes, funkos, water bottles, food containers, all the varieties of plastic packaging
love to show the world i exist by leaving behind a trail of waste that will outlive all humanity
Heckin' wholesome!
Frick streaming, frick physical, frick piracy. It's all so tiresome. Frick movies
>Cinemaphile
I'm done with movies. I've probably seen all the good ones anyway.
>only collecting physical media to show it off to other people and brag about buying things
Pathetic
Yes. The whole world should be communist, so everybody can be equally poor. Won't that be fun? I can hardly wait!
Quintessentially reddit.
no amount of samegay schizoposting will make you seem more sympathetic
Digital Dust
I own 300 blu-rays. About 50 of them were gifts. The other 250 I pirated first to watch and I bought them when I was ready for a rewatch. I don't own a computer or laptop. I post and torrent from my phone so I don't have a lot of room for digital storage.
>i have to phonepost so i can torrent movies specifically so i can know which ones to buy instead of buying a computer with that money
wow possibly the worst poster on Cinemaphile right now im genuinely impressed
I just don't feel like buying a computer. The only thing I would use it for is watching movies, but that means I would have to sit at a desk. I can lay in bed to watch movies on my phone or do it during work, at a restaurant, etc.
>HDMI pc to TV at bed
wow
>watching movies at a restaraunt etc on your phone
it just gets better
i'll agree that watching movies on your phone is bad, but what's so awful about putting your pc on your tv?
please read the exchange again
i am suggesting he uses HDMI to connect his PC to his bed instead of using his phone like a spaz
You can connect your pc to your bed now? What a time to be alive!
I don't have a tv in my bedroom. There is only one in my living room with a couch I can lay on while I watch it.
>>at a restaurant, etc.
>go to movie theater
>buy two tickets to avoid the no singles policy
>sit down to an empty screening of The Marvels
>pull out my phone
>watch Goodfellas
if you actually wanna sell it, you can make a lot of money off schmucks on ebay.
i nearly accidentally bought a dvd copy of Final Flesh for $5 before I realized it was on the internet archive for free. thank god someone outbid me.
I find it difficult to watch kinos unless it's on physical media. I have hundreds of blurays and some dvds. Somtimes I download movies but only if it's too difficult/expensive to get the blurays.
at the palm of my hand i hold all of your physical collection
I buy limited edition blu-rays from boutique labels of films I actually love (or rarely, if the cover is too fricking good).
My physical media collection is 70% vinyl records though.
I really dont care, worst case scenario they're just living room accesories that makes for interesting conversations whenever i have visitors coming over.
