Me 100%. There's so much stupid shit in the canon now that makes me hate what the show has become. The demographic change brought on by the shit canon has also made a large part of the fandom intolerable. It is legitimately depressing because I got into the show around the start, and as soon as Penn left, the tone shift was so dramatic and awful.
The obsession with DEEPEST LORE ruined the show, because the writers were so far up their own asses.
Tell me how the new content is bad. Characters actually have a condensed, solid arc that is followed up on episode to episode in this new HBO Max series. You don't have to get only glimpses of potential development that usually had to be covered in layers of shenanigans and hijinks because the execs needed to sell toys to children. Most of the time lore is just sprinkles. The main meat of any story is it's execution and character interactions, of which we get in spades in Fionna and Cake. Things actually progress forward and are foreshadowed by earlier eps in a self-contained story environment.
