Agree that he's overrated, I don't necessarily think he's a bad actor but I think it's ridiculous to have him in the running for one of the best to do it. Happy to take suggestions for films that could change my mind
I feel like if actors arnt serious stage actors before their movie career then they arnt real actors. I know Pachino and Dafoe are. Bale's been doing big roles since being a kid. Cruise isnt the most diverse actor so he loses points for that, wont make himself look vulnerable for example but he does his own stunts so gets points for that. De Nero feels like he's phoned it in for a long time. Jack is obviously intense and good at what he does but thats all he does. Daniel Day Lewis could well be the most diverse.
No, FRICK no. What is a good actor? Someone who is good at pretending to be someone else convincingly.
The better and actor is, the easier it is for him to jump into a role, and the more convincing he is. Now I'm not denying that DDL's characters aren't convincing, but this guy has to debase himself for literal months in order to keep up the act, he can't just jump into it, he can't even drop the act when the cameras stop, he has to keep it going through great effort of he loses it. He needs months of preparation acting like a complete fricking moron in order to be convincing.
DDL not only is most influential actor in the past 30 years. Before becoming a movie actor, his theater career was enough to be a legendary actor.
You are a pleb, DDL is the last actor with an artistic sense, nowadays you have mediocre morons like DiCaprio trying to be like DDL and failing at it, ruining an entire movie.
Jeremy Irons, Gary Oldman, Jack Lemmon, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, I hate Jimmy Stewart and Cruise can't act, except for pretending to be straight, and he doesn't even pull that off.
No
bale is overrated as frick
okay list though
Bale is kino and consistently the best part of every movie he's in aside from Batman which sucked.
reddit list
Jack>Brando>Foster>Day Lewis>Cruise>De Niro>Pacino>Bale>Stewart
nah. mostly reddit actors
Missing Paul Newman, Derek Jacobi, Omar Sharif, Laurence Olivier, etc.
James Stewart should be on the list.
Lol, yeah, how the frick do you include Jodie and not Anthony when he carries her through Silence.
And I don't know if this is English speaking actors only, but Toshiro Mifune should be on. And Orson Welles deserves a spot just for Kane.
No Gene Hackman? No Johnny Depp? No Morgan Freeman? No Kerri Sable?
i always thought de Niro was overrated. to Me he plays a really similar guy in every movie.

I think Peter Sellers should be on the top ten list of best actors
Agreed.
any list without eva green just goes for big name recognition and is immediately discarded

>wont make himself look vulnerable
Watch Magnolia
Isnt he a pick up artist in that?
Yeah but he breaks down towards the end.
Brando is fine, Daniel Day-Lewis too maybe, I like Cary Grant more than James Stewart, all the others nope.
This man should be on anyone's top list
dubs of truth, he was excellent in dog day afternoon
He had the greatest cinematic career of all time
>I'M SMART
Hits me right in the feels
His hairline is literally me
>just shows up one day
>stars in 5 of the greatest movies of all time one after the other
>no other roles
>dies
What did he mean by this?
What the frick is Tom Cruise and Jodie Foster doing there?
Remove the corners
Al Pacino before his nicotine addiction was the best. Bryan Cranston was also great in BrBa but this list doesnt include tv shows for some reason.
Replace Foster with Gary Oldman
for me it's Peter O'Toole and Katharine Hepburn
Kate Hepburn is undoubtedly the greatest actress who ever lived. But as for greatest actor? I'm afraid I'll have to go with George C. Scott
>Kate Hepburn is undoubtedly the greatest actress who ever lived.
nah eva green mogs her hard
Yes
Replace Stewart with Gary Oldman. Stewart is the Meryl Streep of men, same fricking character in every role.
>I've never seen a DDL movie.
What is he even in?
You put an actress in your actors list.
>DDL

He is by definition a bad actor.
DDL not only is most influential actor in the past 30 years. Before becoming a movie actor, his theater career was enough to be a legendary actor.

>his theater career was enough to be a legendary actor.
Lol. No one even thinks of him next to the classic Hamlet.
TWBB is nothing without him. It is a greatest 100 with him.
Jeremy Irons, Gary Oldman, Jack Lemmon, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, I hate Jimmy Stewart and Cruise can't act, except for pretending to be straight, and he doesn't even pull that off.
Yeah they're great, but you mostly remember the actor, not the character.
Jodie Foster sucks dick
Willem Dafoe should be on there
I nominate this mad lad.
Werner should have let the natives kill this deprived soul.
>the most generic normie list imaginable
I didn't know Jodie Foster was considered among the best.
You look like a rube.
no Daniel Day Lewis?!
Op is bait
Gene Hackman belongs on any list. Robert Duvall as well.
Peter O'Toole was the top middle.
Remove Tom Cruise and put Cate Blanchett there.
IMO the actress in Gone With The Wind is the absolute best female actress ever. She outshone everyone in that movie.
Replace both Robert De Niro and Al Pacino with Gary Oldman and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
here you have
marlon brando and orson welles are mandatory for any list to be correct
WHERE IS TOM BERENGER
All these considered best actors live off one or two good performances, at some point they begin to repeat themselves.
What did middle right accomplish?
my boy deserves a spot
*shart
Al Pacino is unironically awful
