Style over substance. The actual story (or what is more like combination of seven different story ideas with none of them getting enough time) is an utter mess.
I think they all together nicely at the end. It kind of bothers me how quickly the first movies love interest is explained to leave. But this feels like the batman movie he had more funny with. The cd record scratch bit when hes fricking with the penguin got me
I also really enjoyed that scene. That combined with the scene at the ball when they fully realize who the other person is, are such great character moments.

In that moment, we're all Batman. Women like Selina are why we try to fix psycho b***hes, they're just too kinky.
This movie is too real, it actually understands human nature in a way I don't think any other Batman movie does.
Fireplace scene between Bruce and Selena is one best on sceen Bruce Wayne scenes
I genuinely think stuff like this is why Batman Returns is still the best Batman movie, it handles the duality of Batman and his supporting cast in a much more visceral way than any other Batman movie. Also appreciate how sexual the movie is, in a world where it feels like superhero movies have had their balls lopped off after Iron Man 1.
Burton understands and understood the iconography and duality of Batman and his world better than anybody else, no other Batman has quite gotten the look of Gotham city as right as Burton did, and he understood that the best way to shoot the Batsuit is caked in shadows with his cape draped over him. Even the best comic book artists know that Batman looks best blending in with the shadows.
Yup. Burton’s Batman very much Golden Age Batman where he was a boogeyman who people didn’t think was human. He didn’t stand around working crime scenes with cops. Even in Returns his interaction with Gordon is brief. Batman says one word to him and takes off
Don't get me wrong, I generally like the Nolan films too, Nolan understood the beats and nuances even if he didn't feel the iconography or operatic qualities of Batman quite like Burton did, but Batman stuff has definitely regressed since those, The Batman missed all the nuance, it knew how to play the notes by banging the keys bluntly and didn't understand the timing between plunking those keys.
And the less we talk about the backslides from Ledger that both Leto and Phoenix's Joker takes were, the better.
Nobody would give a shit about this without Michelle Pfeiffer
Wrong
Do tell.
Devito was cool too
Video game was so fun. Just a simple beat ‘em up games
Lucky you, I was stuck with Forever on the SNES
Fml
It's insane how hard it was though. I think I beat it but I can't remember... I still have my SNES. Hmmm
The Batman is the new best Batman film and it's not even close.
Truth. The Batman nailed everything about Batman perfectly.
It's worse than Batman & Robin. At least that was meant to be funny.
God that scene is kino.
Best Batman movie

This but unironically.

Seeing THIS in a drive-in Summer of 1992 at age six made me feel funny things that never really stopped.
Saw it when I was 12 in theaters and yeah. I saw it again

Definitely. Burton did his movie. Not. a studio assembly line movie. It was very different from Batman ‘89

>best Batman adaptation was nearly 40 years ago
It's so over.

I had the official t-shirt of this movie when it came out. I was the coolest kid in a 100 mile radius. And that was when I knew I liked ladies
who the frick is michael keaton
>costume party
>only Bruce and Selina come regularly
>band version of Supafreak playing
Yeah I'm thinking kino. The film has rough spots though.
