I started reading the first volume of this this after seeing it pop up a couple of times. I am surprised by how restrained it is. Don't get me wrong it is still brutally violent but it has decent character work to go along with it. I expected constant gore porn without much build up.
>Stealth Cinemaphile threads on other boards are a better place to discuss manga.
I doubt it.
Check out a stealth Cinemaphile or Cinemaphile thread on /tg/ sometime. They actually discuss the subject at hand without much dickwaving. It is honestly kind of crazy.
Added to my list.
I really need to find a better source for comic news since Cinemaphile never has meaty rec threads anymore. The only one of these that I had even heard of was red room.
Then go to your manga actual board and stay there.
Never set foot here again.
>actually discussing manga on Cinemaphile
Stealth Cinemaphile threads on other boards are a better place to discuss manga. Cinemaphile has been just horrendous lately.
Choose your fighter, American/Canadian indie comics edition >existentialist graphic novel featuring a tumblr dyke protagonist and her wacky weed smoking roommate
or >post-apocalyptic anarchist zine comic with scraggly character designs and violently charged dialogue
>This thing has gotten so fricking shilled in the comics space, if comics had an equivalent of Oscarbait it'd be this.
I've only seen it mentioned here, picked it up, and enjoyed it.
Oscarbait is something like Ducks by Kate Beaton.
>people endlessly complain about superhero comics in the same bait threads >try talking about indies >people endlessly complain about indies all being the same
Most people just seem to actively hate this medium
counting the collected edition frick it, this shit was the balls, really instropective and eerie along with some gut wrenching writing.
one of the few in the recent years that immediately wished i could read it fresh all over again, to get those same chills.
Motivates me to give up capeshit once and for all lol. I think it means that my health is improving too. I actually feel happy inside to read a comic made by someone who loves and wants to use the medium. I think with the capeshit I was going through the motions of just clinging to stuff that I didn't like anymore just to keep some normality. There has been innovation and authenticity in capeshit in the past, but it feels good to say I've outgrown it.
for me its
Volume 2 cover is not very interesting. Pass.
Looks like Adventure Time. Pass.
>Volume 2 cover is not very interesting. Pass.
give it a try. volume 1 is on the freecomicread sites
Did anyone read anything that’s not fricking gay looking?
You posted the gayest-looking one.
you're the homosexual
>he says as he posts the gayest looking book so far in this thread
pottery
Yeah.

Wait till you get to the Tarantula issue. It's hilarious.

I've never seen a stealth Cinemaphile thread on another board. Wonder what kind of books they talk about?

Good grief
This thing has gotten so fricking shilled in the comics space, if comics had an equivalent of Oscarbait it'd be this.
Don't forget
>Asian-American kid is vaguely upset about nothing in particular

Having standards when different flavors of schlock aren't good isn't "hating the medium"
The problem is that there are no good comics, not that they are superhero comics or indies.
There are good comics. Very few, but they exist.
might check it out
>Monica
Best one I've read from this year.
I wanted to punch Monica's stupid c**t of a mom so hard
Same.
What are they?
garbage, that is being shilled on Cinemaphile for the past month
But which ones are being shilled? Just that one?
Hanselmann always deliver
The Summer Fun Annual where one of WWJ's kids gets molested by the dogfricker kid went a tad bit too far
You got filtered. Good.
Do you realize what you just said?
Yes. Simon's art wants to exclude as many people as possible. I support him.
He's trying his damnedest.
Wait it was a troon this whole time?
Nah he is just a weirdo who crossdresses. He isn't a troon.
He just dresses in women's clothing so you have something to jerk off to.
be as cool as Snoop, read hanselmann!!
The grubhub guy is cool now? Fricking zoomies.
Darkwing Duck
Really?
The frick did I just read?
Kino.
It was just a prank, bro
What is this comic all about, yo?
Some mad hoe looking for her dirty bawd mother
I'd go into it blind if I were you. If you don't like Clowes at all, don't bother.
most indie comics look so boring
>most comics look so boring
Fixed.
>Clowes
Yeah no...
What's wrong with Clowes?
No one has posted anything for almost a day.
this thread has convinced me that manga actual is the way to go.
Then go to your manga actual board and stay there.
Never set foot here again.
>no one posted pic rel yet
Really liked this. Original rhythm to the dialogue, amazing art style shifts and a love letter to Kirby that calls out Lee.

daniel clowes is such an incredible artist but his writing is so boring
David boring?
I think Clowes has a good sense of humor and a nuanced take on humanity. For me Chris Ware is the great cartoonist with nothing interesting to say.
Bumping for interest.
I really love this one.

Not sure if counts as 2022 or 2023, but the HC dropped this year and its great even if it leans a bit too heavy on Orange Man Bad.
If I may
Keep reading cgi traced trash
Why get defensive about this ugly bullshit? It looks bad and you know it.
