At least black panther isn’t there

My 10 year old cousin's favorite movie is black panther and is obsessed with marvel (his parents are also culture warriors and use him to virtue signal with).

So the other day I made him watch all of 'What Did Jack Do?' (by David Lynch) and he had nonstop questions for an hour afterwards about what happened. Even today he has been asking about it and has quotes 'Nooo! Toototabon! My love!' a million times since.

I think I'm finally giving him a taste of kino.

    I reject your list.

The list makes sense, i would say if you polled any community that watches a lot of films you would get a result that's 80% the same. Can't even be mad, they have some masterpieces up there

No. Look at RYM or letterboxd. That's how such lists would look like.

      Anonymous

it's a normie list. it's not bad, but you would definitely not see a list like this on any site with real hardcore film buffs on it, though there might be some very minor overlap with stuff like the godfather.

        Anonymous

It's literally fricking horrible, Shrek is above the empire strikes back. Only a moronic c**t would think Shrek is a better "film" or more worthy of "film" praise than the empire strikes back.

    >best movies ever made
    >but only American made ones and post 1990 (with a few pre 1990 sprinkled in for memes)
that top 10 is absolutely awful.

just noticed before posting The Godfather is at 47. No Lawrence of Arabia. No Paddington 2. joke. Who voted for this?

Why would Paddington 2 be on there?

Have you seen it? I'm not the guy you're responding to but it was an incredibly refreshing kids movie, I put it on the same level as Muppets Treasure Island but better production. Maybe top 200 movies for me though.

        >there will be blood nowhere to be seen
        >fricking good will hunting above all 3 lord of the rings

        >ferris beuller above godfather
        >godfather 2 and 3 also nowhere to be seen
failed list composed by legitimate morons

Unfortunately that's what happens when you let the unwashed masses make decisions. Although there is decent an OK amount of pre-1970 movies it is depressing to think about how much great cinema will start to be ignored because of its age. On the Waterfront should be on that list and I don't see any Hitchwiener... oh gosh... no citizen Kane

      same here.
The interesting thing is that hardly anyone considered Good Will Hunting all that great until Robin Williams hanged himself. It went from a 7/10 to 9/10 overnight pretty much

    >TDK
No one ever watched it after release didn't they? The dialogue of this movie is the worst shit ever written. Nolan made an hyperrealistic Gotham that is just fricking Chicago and the characters throw life lessons at each other (people don't talk like that).
People shit on the SW prequels for their dialogue, but there human interactions feel like human interactions. In TDK interactions feel like a bunch of philosophy majors being up their ass talking about how great their opinions are.

I also recently watched it, cried when they burned the sled. The dude's parents didn't give a shit about him and never loved him so he was incapable of love himself. the sled reminded him of a time before he realized his mother, who he was obsessed with, never even loved him. You can't fix someone like that, shit was dark.

Fricking hell. Good Will Hunting really is the most overrated piece of shit ever. The dialogue is hammy and terrible but for some reason everyone acts like it’s the best thing ever. Also Damon’s character is so fricking dumb. No one that smart would be that normal. In real life he would be mega autistic.

This is true but it's the same for all of Nolan's films and normies eat them all up and act like he's Kubrick or Jesus. The Dark Knight is the most overrated movie of the last 20 years, and the shawshank redemption is probably the most overrated since 1990. Yet if we just take the last 20 years Nolan has at least 5 of the top 15 most overrated.

thinking of one's self as being "for the underdog, the outcast, the guy with a good heart who just needs a second chance" can be flattering to the ego. It's a large part of the appeal of Left politics too.

I rewatched Gladiator and wasn't as impressed. Phoenix and Crowe are wonderful, but otherwise I was a little underwhelmed and felt Scott could do more with Crowe's rise to power (like more kino gladiator scenes). It just felt a little all over the place.

I find it strange that the Shawshank redemption and Good Will Hunting are so high up. Like don't get me wrong, both are good films. But if I was to come up with my own list of my favourite films, they probably wouldn't even make the top 50. I don't think I've ever met someone who describes themselves as a big fan of them either. It's almost like people have this idea of what the best films ever made are *supposed* to be, and they list these instead of what they actually like.

Spiderman 2 is worse than the original and anyone who thinks it should be in the top 50 let alone top 10 is a dumbass.
