You were clearly dropped on your head as a child so I'm not gonna ride you too hard here, but Oregon has both Goonies and Kindergarten Cop (Astoria) and I'm in Washington and could care less about the state below us, but you have to give credit where credits due. C'mon now.

                Anonymous

It’s a long stretch of coast in a not very densely populated part of the country and the water is cold up there
On the other hand the east coast is one giant continuous suburb from Boston to Miami

It's also pretty rocky and uneven and there's no really good places for a port or harbor. Until you get to the Columbia River there's also no decent transport lanes for goods.

                Anonymous

Because the “beaches” are too rocky and water is too unpredictable for a decent sized port to develop anywhere. Also the towns are very isolated and the only viable industry for many of them is timber.

                Anonymous

Also you dont have many large tracts of land to develop easily like the valleys in California that butt up against the coast there. The towns are nestled up against hills and mountains and hence never have the space to grow.

Vancouver, WA up in this b***h. I was arrogant enough to move here (had a good job offer) in thinking there would be a magical force field or something that would cauterize Portland's cancer petri dish of a town from what we have going on here. Then, once I'm in Vancouver I realize literally the only thing truly separating us state-wise are two bridges, both being walkable if need be. So, Fentanyl zombies are pouring in over here all the time and it's just the norm. Thanks Portland. Seriously.

Southern WA and nothern are two different beasts entirely. You have a point, but in the south it's a whole lot more conservative than you think. Seattle willingly dug its own grave.

It only sucks that Portland is so close to the southern border that Vancouver is just as liberal as Seattle

some of the higher altitude spots are cool cause it feels like whole parts of towns are cradled on clifftops

See this is beautiful but I don't think it looks too different from parts of New England.

          washington is cursed
I don't think white people should live there
there is some sort of ancient curse on the land, maybe from before the most recent natives
there is a spirtual and physical malaise that hugs the state like a wet blanket, sapping energy and all happiness from people no matter how amazing their lives are or how well things are going
everybody turns to drugs or alcohol just to get by, for no good reason
it should be a beautiful and prosperous place but its just constant misery for everyone

yes the nature is beautiful, enchanting even, magical, and then you go back to your concrete or plastic pod and get back to work, and the misery creeps back in

the whole vibe is off, Seattle itself is built on a hellmouth, the number of people who go missing all over the state and never get reported is enormous (enormous)

there is something deeply wrong with WA and no media can ever capture the unease those who try to live there feel

          >the number of people who go missing all over the state and never get reported is enormous (enormous)

In my experience, bums get more hostile the further north you go for some reason. SF bums are generally kind and friendly, Portland bums are indifferent but not dangerous, Seattle bums are fricking psychos. I live near lower Queen Anne and got chased 3 blocks by a knife wielding bum screaming that he wanted to kill me because I made eye contact with him from across the street once. I don't know about kino but living at the edge of the national forest in Olympia was the most comfy place I lived. While we lived there in the late 90s my Dad took us to the Snoqualmie Lodge to see where parts of Twin Peaks were filmed, and all the diners in the tiny town had TP references on their signs and menus like having damn good coffee and serving cherry pie. Comfy teen hooker death town.

              >Alabama is a white haven outside of its shithole cities.
True to an extent. North of Tuscaloosa and Birmingham is very white, Baldwin county on mobile Bay is pretty white, and a few counties in the southeast of the state in the corner with Georgia and Florida are quite white. There is a huge swath of the state however, running right through the center where there are much too many Blacks.
Some thing yankees do not understand is that in the south Blacks are not an 'urban' phenomenon. There are a lot of them there, sadly, but they are also laced throughout parts of the countryside (on account of their ancestral employment), especially on the coastal plain and most especially in the Mississippi flood plain.

    washington is cursed

I work for a machining subcontractor in Kirkland. I've been tempted a few times to work for Boeing directly but a. There is no job security for Machinists there and b. I'd have to move to fricking Everett

      >Florida
Yeah it’s flat swamp full of rednecks, spics, elderly israelites, and black criminals. I cant understand the appeal unless you’re someone who NEEDS to live by a warm-water beach (ie a middle aged divorced woman)

      >Phoenix
I wouldn’t want to live in a desert where everthing is brown and dead and it’s 105+ degrees for a third of the year, but I will say Scottsdale has the hottest girls on average of any place I’ve ever stayed.

admittedly there isn't much else if you don't like the water but tampa has a great metal scene, and everything down from port richey is to clearwater pretty much a beach town.

Sorry bros, but I've since moved back to California. Seriously, riding the max to work for my shitty midnight shift wagey job was a real low point of my life. Hobos visibly shooting up across the aisle, basketball Americans blasting their shitty music, burnt out storefronts, etc

People love to shit on California but in reality places like South OC, Marin, and San Diego are still extremely nice if you can afford to live there.

any place that is also affordable?
The only two counties that are cheap are Humboldt (Heroine) and Lake (Hot and no paved roads)

All the nice, rich enclaves in CA are insanely nice. The problem is the expense and the times you have to leave the enclave (though if you're really rich enough both of these are non issues)

My favorite genre of post on r/seattle is the constant stream of "How the frick do you people live like this?!" posts during the winter.

If you want to live in the chuddiest place on earth go to rural Idaho. It is pretty but nowhere near as pretty as WA. Also if you aren't already rich there are no jobs and you'll be poor.

Florida, Texas, and Arizona are godforsaken shitholes with nothing redeeming about them.

I wonder how many millions of pajeets they’ll import within the decade now that whites are either moving out or dying out? Ontario is importing 5 million (unofficially 10 million) within 10 years and most of them will be pajeets and our collective economy is about the same as Washington and Oregon combined.

You guys have federally legal weed. You guys are heading in a good direction despite insane housing market

Weed is dumbo slop so the plebs forget about getting fricked in the ass everyday. I’ve never done weed in my life and I feel superior to people that smoke weed even once.
