oh no shock value
Not the joke, pleb.
People hated this episode? I thought it was kino AF
I was thinking the same thing. I didn't think anyone hated this gem. So many great aspects
>Mighty Ducks parody
>"Your cancer tied"
>Song 2
>the ending
I hate it because the joke was painfully obvious. This was post Scott tenerman South Park
It's just that... ugh this episode is too... mean spirited even for South Park
I've seen this episode like three times and it never really sticks with me. Is it seen as particularly bad?
i only remember it not being funny
I thought it was funny
10% of South Park is good, the rest has aged like shit or was never funny to begin with.
Wasn't it just an excuse to watch toddler get beaten up?
I don't care about it. What am I?
I don't understand the hate, this shit it's hilarious
I think the reason most people don't find it funny is that it sounds like actual kids getting beat up instead of high pitched adults or something, it's just kind of too cruel in a way and doesn't feel deserved
Maybe I have autism. I loved the episode when I first saw it.
I do not follow hockey, so what is the joke here? Little kids getting beaten up? Or is it satirizing something like the level of violence in the sport?
I think they just thought The Mighty Ducks was fricking stupid.
The joke is that the whole episode had been a parody of the Mighty Ducks. Where Stan is coaching this ragtag bunch of underdogs to win the big game at the end. But they get their asses kicked, and the other team gets their sports movie ending.
I recognized the Red Wing coach from Mighty Ducks, but I don't remember a cancer kid in those movies so it threw me off. I guess they were combing the Mighty Ducks with a Babe Ruth reference where he hits the home run for that dying kid.
The episode establishes that the kid is dying because he's losing hope, and Stan has to win the game to save the kid's life. But he loses, so the kid dies.
And everybody claps.
I just noticed that they didn't account for the Canadian players and coaching staff on the Red Wings, and made them look like standard non-Canadian characters. Like Mike Babwiener is from Ontario and was the coach of Detroit at the time of the episode.
I get it, I see the humour in it, I don't find that funny
I remember the Australian media didn't like it because they made a joke about Steve Irwin's death, so in a later episode they had Irwin appear at Satan's birthday party with a stingray's stinger sticking out of his chest.
I really don't get Cinemaphile's obsession with this episode.
