Still, they torture Gollum to find out where the ring is despite Bilbo wearing it on his birthday

Gollum's capture and torture happens later on in the timeline, way after Bilbo's birthday (like 20 years later). At this point Sauron is still gathering strength in Mordor and hasn't sent the Nine out to find the ring.

Oh, so Frodo and Gandalf coould have leisurely walked the ring all the way to Mt Doom with no monsters harrying them if they'd left then. But instead wait a couple decades until the very last second

Gandalf finds out after a lot of research, and tells Frodo they need to dip quickly (but in a manner that won't cause a stink with locals that will make them think Frodo is still chilling at the shire), because Gollem recently smilt the beans about Bilbo and the Shire, and Sauron recently sent Wraith to hunt the ring down.

Galadriel kicked his ass during the timeline of the hobbit and destroyed his tower in mirkwood. He was busy fighting one of the few entities in existence that where on his power level.

Didn't happen in the books. Please show me where Tolkien wrote "And girl boss Galadriel zapped Sauron across the map and destroyed his tower"? Gandalf (with Saruman's help) did more to drive him out of Mirkwood than any other White Council member. The only thing she did was destroy Dol Guldur after Sauron was defeated. She was too pussy to leave Lothlorien and face him during the War of the Ring. Stop letting Hackson and his wife fill your head with their Pedowood headcannon.

          >Let's get rid of the scene where Frodo shows his strength of will against the corrupting influences of the ring and the nazgul so an irrelevant side character can have more screen time.
          >We'll just have Gandalf say he has a strong will instead.
Ironic that the movie fails to show instead of tell, while the book didn't, no?

Read the appendix, she fricked up Dol Guldor, it doesn't say with the white council or her armies it just says Galadriel
Galadriel literally fought Feanor and survived in the silmarillion, and is in multiple places compared to her uncles in physical ability. Read a fricking book yourself.

            > Even after the merciless assault upon the Teleri and the rape of their ships, though she fought fiercely against Fëanor in defence of her mother’s kin, she did not turn back. Her pride was unwilling to return, a defeated suppliant for pardon; but now she burned with desire to follow Fëanor with her anger to whatever lands he might come, and to thwart him in all ways that she could.

            >Pondering what she might do Galadriel’s thoughts turned to the ships of the Teleri, and she went for a while to dwell with her mother’s kindred in Alqualondë. There she met Celeborn, who is here again a Telerin prince, the grandson of Olwë of Alqualondë and thus her close kinsman. Together they planned to build a ship and sail in it to Middle-earth; and they were about to seek leave from the Valar for their venture when Melkor fled from Valmar and returning with Ungoliant destroyed the light of the Trees. In Fëanor’s revolt that followed the Darkening of Valinor Galadriel had no part: indeed she with Celeborn fought heroically in defence of Alqualondë against the assault of the Noldor, and Celeborn’s ship was saved from them.

She at least fought against his host

He did say it in the supplementary stuff. He didn't say anything about an epic Dragonball Z magic fight, that's Hackson creation.

It's another Peter Jackson blunder, in the books Sauron can't tell where Frodo is even when he wears the ring except for when he puts it on in Mount Doom (although yes the Nazgul feel a general attraction to the ring and more or less feel where it is). But not like it's shown in the movie

  5. 3 months ago
    Anonymous

The Nazgul hadn't been freed when Gollum and Bilbo had the ring. Also, there's only twice where Sauron perceives Frodo using the ring. The first is at Amon-Hen, where Frodo sat on the Seat of Seeing. It's implied that this was due to the magic nature of the location, and not just Frodo using the ring.

      Anonymous

That is true for the books, but not the movies.
For example in the movies, the Nazgul only know Frodo is in Bree because he puts the ring on, whereas in the books it has nothing to do with that

        Anonymous

Yeah, the films turned the ring into more of a homing beacon. I think I would explain it as the Nazgul not being sent out until Frodo was in possession of the ring.
I also like to think that a person who has more power over the ring (like Frodo) is more likely to be detected.

My headcanon is that Gandalf probably had the Shire under some protection spells as well. The book says that the borders were always guarded and watched by Rangers.

    It's simple really.
Sauron was using his palantir to search the area where he at that point knew the ring was at. Using the ring creates magical noise.

Bilbo got away with it because Sauron and his minions weren't already searching the general area. Also during the time of The Hobbit, Sauron was still way weaker than he was during the time of the Lord of the Rings. Gollum also used the ring over hundreds of years.

Because that's Hackson movie bullshit. The ring draws attention to itself (as demonstrated with the Watcher in the Waters and the Balrog) but it doesn't send out a magic GPS beacon when its worn. Frodo was seen turning invisible by a spy at the Prancing Pony. The Nazgul were never alerted when Sam worth the ring WITHIN Mordor.

har har. It's a ring, artard, it's "used" by being worn. Passing something through it is not wearing it, is it?

But none of this matters because none of this is real and we're all wasting our time with this slop.

That was like 17 years earlier you absolute lorelet
Sauron wasn't looking for the ring when Bilbo put it on at his 111st party. But years later, when Frodo puts it on for the first time, Sauron and the nazgul are looking for it by that point. At least I think that's why, I'm actually not sure sorry for being rude
