90% of people internationally don’t know who he is. Americans are morons who overrate the importance of their countries celebrities

I am not even American but I learnt that Americans have accents because of him. Music is international language.

Third world here. Everyone knows who Elvis is, but he is more of a Las Vegas rocker halloween costume than a musician. Most people outside the US know only 2 or 3 songs of him. He is more of a figure than a musician.
Unlike MJ who is known by his music on top of his antics.

he deserves to be recognized for his influence but his music doesn't have timeless appeal like The Beatles or any related artist

Influence? What fricking influence, literally noone gives a shit about him or his output. Noone goes around referencing him as a big inspiration for their work. Beatles, David Bowie, Talking Heads, The Doors etc. all are cited by artists as big influences: noone says Elvis fricking Presley.

He was a great performer, I like him: but let's not kid ourselves while his style was novel it was nothing that was worth emulating for others.

Oldies stations played the shit out of Elvis 15 years ago, it's just that oldies stations have moved to a new maximum age range for the music they play.

That recent movie was not that good. Compared to some older good and bad ones is about his life this one didn’t seem to have much to say. It seemed like it was more to appease Black folk.

People don’t care about famous people like they used to
Nobody wants to watch a biopic
I love queen, Elton and especially Bowie and Elvis and I have no interest in watching any of their biopics

    There is levels of fame
    >Tier 0: Knowledge of them is spread to every remote territory by obnoxious foreign travellers. Will never fade from public conscious (MJ, Jesus, Virgin Mary, Muhammad)
    >Tier 1: Transcends languages barriers and is taught as important historical figures. (Shakespeare, Hitler, Leonardo Da Vinci, Beethoven, Mozart, Einstein)
    >Tier 2: Majority of people in the West & Europe know them right now, but that’s about it
    >Tier 3: societal icons of the past, but will eventually / gradually fade from memory

Elvis would be in 3, The Beatles are in 2.

I think Elvis is still 2. This depends on how you really view fame though. A lot of people know of Elvis but have never seen his music or films. It's like how Colonel Sanders is both a real person and a fictional mascot. Elvis is truly a cultural avatar and his influence will basically never die because before Elvis there was nothing.

Nah, being the President during a civil war is always going to make you notable in the history books, regardless of nationality.

      Nonsense
Just because you don't like Elvis doesn't mean the rest of the world does too
He's at least tier 3 probably had high as 2

That tier points sound about right, I'd put Beatles at tier 1 and Elvis at tier 2 though.

Elvis was the first artist to properly articulate the premise of 'Rock', which is that the boldest of us are coming for sex with your children.

I don't like how the flick implied that The King was somehow influenced by coloreds. If I were him I'd sue and try to get some of the money back the israelite manager stold

He wasn't particularly important like a master composer would be. Those who remember his heyday are dwindling, and he's very American. No one really likes America anymore or knows who Elvis is outside America.
