I read the first issue. Seemed okay but I'm not interested.
Are you well versed in DC? Can you tell me who the frick that is between Dinah and Harley? She's the only one I don't recognize.
Zealot, a Wildstorm character who got ported to the main DCU after New52. She's like Wonder Woman but if Themiscyra was an alien planet and she'd been alive for thousands of years.
Ah, that's why I don't recognize her then. The only Wildstorm characters I could pick from a lineup are Apollo and Midnighter.
She's a Jim Lee character that he created when he was at Wildstorm but he's allowing DC to use her now since he owns the rights to her.
No. Looks awful.
I think the art looks fine.
This does look nice but I won't read anything written by Kelly Thompson
>Kelly Thompson
Can I have a qrb? I'm still a bit of a comicslet, I've only read
Watchmen, Multiple Punisher runs, The Unbelievable Gwenpool, Tie-in comics to the Batman Arkham games, Blade Runner 2019, Harley Quinn stuff, Thunderbolts, Suicide Squad runs, some Judge Dredd, and a few other stuff.
Artist: Leonardo Romero
Nah.
Not bad. Still not reading it.
>I'm going blind, but in denial
Go to the doctor, anon. Glasses are not that expensive.
Post your own art anon. Let's compare yours and Leonardo's.
it looks gay
I'm reading it but not enjoying it. The story is rubbish to a point where the characters themselves comment on how useless their mission is. I despise modern Harley Quinn and the rest of the characters are hardly putting on their best faces either.
Art is bad and made infinitely worse by the infernal coloring that literally HURTS MY EYES with the chromatic aberration effect on every panel. It's like staring right into a lens flare.
Post your art anons, So we can compare.
Logical fallacy.
>he can't draw
As usual.
That art is god awful. It might, MIGHT, work for a shitty indie comic with a pretentious, boring, and self-absorbed coming of age/first love story but it's horrid for a cape comic that's supposed to be centered around action.
Show adult and full figured Maps!
Frick no
Thompson is a bad writer and the cast is terrible
I read the second or third issue. The one where Green Arrow shows up for a bit. Didn't enjoy the dialogue and I'm ambivalent towards the line work. The colors were nice, though. I say that as someone who rarely notices that stuff, so either the colorist is really good or everything else was so mediocre that it stood out by comparison.
I'm just kinda skimming through it.
>harley
nope
This has filler mini written all over it.
How so?
Don't expect a real answer, you'll get some buzzword filled tripe at best and a shitpost at worst.
No real hook or direction, randomly combining semi-popular characters but not really finding any way for them to interact besides the surface.
18 seems VERY generous for something like this that's neither fish nor fowl. I don't think any fans of any character are particularly happy with how they're portrayed here. Maybe some desperate Cass fans since they like frickin' Batwheels.
Batgirls got that many issues and it was even shittier than this.
>I don't think any fans of any character are particularly happy with how they're portrayed here. Maybe some desperate Cass fans since they like frickin' Batwheels.
I guarantee you no Cass fan likes a comic where she's forced to suck Harley's dick in the very first issue.
Cass and Harley fan here, I found it amusing.
You're not a Cass fan.
>Oh you like something I don’t like?
>FAKE FAN!
Every fricking time
You're not even a fake fan, you're just a shithead.
Darling, you could at least try a little. Now you’re just acting like a petulant child.
>Cass sucking Harley's dick
Sounds hot.
Not a chance
But I'll be shocked if it lasts past 18 issues.
The only reason to make an all-woman team is for T&A and this doesn't even have that. So no.
I flip through it and I hated how they wrote Barda like the Hulk, she still talks like regular goddamn person.
Kelly has never once read a comic with Bards in it.
MAYBE King's fricking Mister Miracle book
She didn't even read King's run because Barda in that while kinda out of character still speaks normal (well as normal as King's shitty writing will allow) This Barda just sounds like Hulk and sometimes poorly written Thor.
I'm actually liking Zealot's design more I see it.
Strange. I was thinking more Thor than Hulk.
Yeah that's it but the third person makes me think of the Hulk ME BARDA ME SMASH!
I've only seen Barda in a few of her animated appearances.
Yeah and she kinda of nothing character in animation, just there to be badass but even in those she talks rather normal but Barda fun character lot writers forget she has fun what she does and her bluntness is also good source of comedy.
I'll add her to my list of characters to read more of. Outside of the animated appearances all I know is she has a relationship with Mister Miracle?
That's her husband, they work off each other nicely.
I have seen plenty of fanart of them and 'official' art too over the years.
I wish Barda would smash me
You're gonna tell me she doesn't sound like a Jack Kirby character? Lmao
It doesn't sound like Barda.
Not at all. Just say you haven’t actually read a Kirby comic next time you LARPing homosexual.
Why do they hate attractive women?
Wrong reply?
The coloring here is fricking awful
Who wants to bet most of the people talking about it aren't reading it at all and are just picking random pages to cry over?
Why do you think that? It's not like there's been a ton of issues or a lot has happened. They're fairly quick reads.
Look, since the beginning BoP is more a book you read for the character interactions than the plot. Having a weak plot isn't the worst thing in the world, but everything in this current run feels very arbitrary. Barda being quirky and old-timey and being friendly with Cass is just about the only really unique and interesting character relationship going on.
Yeah
The writing being subpar is something I can accept as a dis.
The art is okay though.
I get what they're trying do with the coloring make look kinda like one those blue line 90's books like an Valiant comic but it doesn't work and would look better without the filter also I agree the art fine but it's bit stiff and ugly in places.
>Valiant comic
Unrelated to the BoP, I like X-O Manowar.
I love blue line style coloring which basically just the color guides like four color coloring but printed as is.
Good ole Ninjak
>I get what they're trying do with the coloring make look kinda like one those blue line 90's books like an Valiant comic but it doesn't work
Yeah I don't think they're aiming for that at all. It just looks more like modern interpretations of retro 60's-70's color palettes. Not just comic colors but in general. There's a lot of color palette combos online these days for graphic designers to reference
Well the way it's got that painted texture look reminds me of it but you're most likely right, it's most likely trying to do more four color thing and it's failing hard.
Well I wouldn't necessarily say that but you're right in a way. A lot of those pre-packaged color palettes are meant more to give the feeling than to actually represent what they're meant to reference.
It's like how you see "80's colors" and it's all teals and pink and nothing like how anything actually was in the 80's.
Ghost ride the whip ghost ride the whip
Who wants to be that worthless c**t Kelly is ITT shilling her trash? b***h has absolutely nothing to say and nothing worthwhile in her brain. Let alone she doesn’t even know who the birds of prey are considering the cast. Why do they hire worthless c**ts like her?
That cover is hideous
I am. It's fun. The coloring sucks though, it's trying to look retro but it just looks like the printer was out of alignment.
Yeah. It’s been fun so far. Probably will improve once Harley leaves after issue 6.
Harley is 1/3 of the reads I started reading it to begin with but I'm in it to win it now so I won't mind seeing her go
Will Dinah and Cass still be around?
I wonder if Thompson will add Oracle to try appeasing fans.
>appease fans
If she really wanted to do that she’d steam her suicide.
>Are you reading the current run, Cinemaphile?
No. No Babs, no (white) Helena, no cheesecake, no dimes.
I don't read wokeslop.
But you will enter threads about it to announce you don't for some reason.
Cassandra is smol
Does the artist also do the coloring?
Did this Kelly woman shoot y'alls dogs?
Why speak in the third person Kelly?
Why don't you help a humble comicslet out and give him the run down on what Kelly did?
She’s a horrible writer. I’m not really sure why you need to believe there’s a conspiracy against you, Kelly.
>asks why people don't like this writer
>get told she's just a bad writer
>Anon thinks I'm actually Kelly
Okay.
No no homosexual answer this question, why do you need there to be some conspiracy? She writes dog shit comics, why is that not enough to hate her?
I'd like to know which of my posts makes you think I'm thinking there's a 'conspiracy' anon. I really would. Could you screenshot it for me?
>what she did
Implies you think there’s some deep seeded reason for hating her that isn’t related to comics.
Considering the reaction I've seen towards her I would assume its something more than just writing some shitty stories. I was expecting support of some cringe political shit.
she writes bad comics homosexual. This is a comics board do the math
There’s no need to be a homosexual either
So you admit you're upset?
So then why did you ask this
you massive fricking homosexual?
>y'alls
go back
>the beta anon can't handle the Alabama chad.
I am. The writing is mediocre, but the art is pretty enough to keep me reading it. As long as the plots don't get offensively bad and the artist stays, I don't see that changing. Still Better than most of DC's output, regardless.
Oh, I will say it pisses me off how much wondywank there is, though. I'm not saying Barda could wipe the floor with Diana, but she could certainly hold her own. Ridiculous to suggest that she's out of Barda's league.
There still is zero evidence Kelly Thompson is a real person.
>Want to read for Cass Cain
>Don't want to read anything that features Harley Quinn
So who was pushing for Zealot? Is this like when there was that big fuss over Marvel getting the rights to use Angela from Spawn even though nobody actually cared about Angela from Spawn? I mean I liked Wildcats in the day but still. Seems weird when DC has not shortage of it's own characters.
DC own her outright, she Jim Lee's creation if anything push is most likely Jim Lee, I don't got anything against her but she kinda seems pointless when Barda there.
They should have Angela meet this dude
I forgot all about that dude. The 90s kind of thew a lot of shit at the wall didn't it.
>Harley on an team with Barda and Cass
>They don't reference the first time they met from the only good Harley comic because reboots and shit.

It's not even that; Sin existing is from the old continuity. The writer just doesn't know shit. Sin exists to basically be the new Shiva for her village, and Dinah has an uneasy relationship with Shiva. That could've been a reason why Dinah reached out to Cass specifically. Or hell, Dinah used to train Steph who's Cass' roomate.
It doens't need to be bogged down in references but there's frames to work with
I'd never heard of Sin till this comic. Or if I had I just forgot the name.
She's from Gail Simone's BoP run. The OneYearLater issues, IIRC.
To RCO so I can bookmark it and read it later.
Yeah you can take the best bits from the past with characters and work off of it like how Harley pretended to be Barbara and how Cass feels about working with or how Barda was annoyed as hell by Harley even more than other villains when they met and that conflict like you can do it in a way that references old work without you needing to read it.
I'm collecting this now and surprised over how expensive it is. I would have thought that more people would have bought it.
MMMMmm yes only the OG Harley is acceptable to like
>faaaarttssss
>inhales it
MMMMmmm god I love being cool on Cinemaphile.
Yes, it’s pretty good.
>The US government is fighting the Amazons
Okay but why
>checkout the WW series to find out
Well thanks for the tip.
I like how it's completely unexplained how Sin aged 10+ years when no one else aged a day.
Five badass ladies, all I need.
Good artist wasted on more nucomics tedium.
The coloring is too distracting for a clean style like this.
>Good artist
THE ART IS FRICKING AWFUL. STOP PRETENDING ROMERO IS GOOD. HE CAN'T FRICKING DRAW.
Shit drives me up the wall.
calm
He can tho
I like him. He’s Cory Walkerish with Tothy flourishes, and I like Cory Walker who Cinemaphile unjustly hates too. Cinemaphile can tongue my nuts.
Why won’t they explain Zealot’s history in this or WildCATs? What is canon?
