Paulo suddenly finding out he has a half-sister he will probably never meet is actually a cool turn; I regret that it's being poorly served by nuPaulo being a whiny homosexual.
The real shame is that none of this will ever go anywhere. Paulo's little sister will remain off-screen and get, at best, maybe two more mentions before the comic wraps up in ten years.

Would be realllllll nice if this was leading up to some sort of status quo shift. But we've seen time and time again that the Paulo-Mike friendship meter barely movies no matter how many special little moments of reconciliation they share. It's just another example of BCB reliance on baiting without payoff. I wonder if even the discord bunch are still fooled at this point.

Study Buddy, Golden Hour, Double Down, you have a bit of it in Critical Fail but Sue hard no-sold it so Paulo got mad immediately. It usually fails actually, it only really works on Mike and Abbey and even then Abbey shrugged it off and only changed his mind when Paulo burst into tears. Actually most times Paulo burst into tears it's about this shit where his fear of being abandoned is being triggered by him acting like an butthole and driving people away.
That usually happens when he's worn out his welcome. Then Paulo gets desperate, tries reeling his friends back in and then goes hysterical if they don't accept his attempt at slapping the reset button.

I think the real problem is that Taeshi herself has these massive swings but refuses to acknowledge and then compensate for them in her writing. Her characters used to be much more consistent.
Though maybe that is why she ended up getting committed; trying to enter Lucy's depressed headspace fricked her own moods up.
When you think about it both Mike and Lucy (the main characters) are just these massive paradoxes. No wonder Lucyspace and those Psi-bcb theories caught on.

If Molly is supposed to not be angry (which doesn't make a lot of sense) but frustrated at her own shy over-reaction to Paulo's presence the expression is kind of weird for that.
Taeshi's artistic repertoire is extremely limited. She used to get praise for her expressions because those were the only things she did moderately well, but even that ability has shallowed out.

The way things have been going, Mike would just blame himself for being unlovable or not enough of a friend. His sperg period, according to Taeshi, happened because Mike rejected the idea that things were his fault. He does not want a repeat of that and Daisy was right: He always swings to extremes instead of finding a healthy medium. These characters never change their mind unless some outside perspective is presented.
Unfortunately this is what most likely will happen. God I miss sperg Mike he was entertaining.
I think that a cold, cutting Mike would have been more fitting given his past behavior toward Lucy. But that probably would have gotten under her skin and lent him too much dignity for Taeshi's tastes.
Personally yeah that would be nice. Also Manipulative Mike who has had his empathy cauterized and just Manipulates his friends for revenge and the Lols would be cool as well. Hell even a modified version of Spreg who is always a spiteful-Alejandro clone would be a refresher at this point.
Emotionally cauterized Mike period would be an improvement. Lucy's failure to provoke him would slowly drive her up a wall and no one in general would know how to predict his actions. A lot of decision making is done on the emotional level--especially in this comic--so what happens when Mr. Guilt and Empathy is granted emotional distance and complete objectivity? Would he go with the momentum but not give a shit? Change his circumstances to be more convenient? Start fricking with people out of idle curiosity?
Perhaps a combination of all three? This will also allow him to breakup with sandy(provided they haven’t broken up by the time this happens) Maybe his family notices and he finally gets therapy?
