Even among humans there's racism within the normal demographics. I assume this is only worse in BCB.
It's no wonder that there are very few mixed breed cats in BCB. Mike's parents are race purists, Lucy's parents are race purists to the point of breeding in Lucy's deaf ear, and even Paulo's parents seem to be very similar. Only Daisy has been confirmed to be the result of different cat breeds procreating, and it resulted in her being conventionally unattractive by being both huge and fluffy.
We don't know the parents of most BCB characters, but the chapter where they all stated what breed they are had very little breed mixing.

You both are actually moronic. The Korat cat breed as well as Khao Manee are both royal cat lines from Thailand (formerly called Siam). So if anything countries would be filled with cat breeds that originated from them, with countries like the USA being an outlier due to heavy immigration.

My current idea is that the Korat and Khao Manee united into a Austria-Hungary type thing in the 1800s so they wouldn’t get colonized like there neighbors and once the threat past in the 1950s it collapsed when the Korat kingdom tried to leave and the Khao Manee kingdom didn’t let them. This lasted until the mid-60s when the Khao Manee kingdom was overthrown in a socialist revolution. This revolution is why Lucy and her family now live in America.

Sandy is and always has been an anchor around Mike's neck and makes his subplots awful to follow. It's the definition of one-sided, both because of how devoted he is to a manipulator, and because Sandy herself barely gets any screen-time or development. It's boring, just like watching your real high school friends whine about their girlfriend that lives two states over.
Sandy only exists to keep the lead cats apart. She served her narrative purpose once his relationship with Lucy became completely irreparable in December. They had the perfect opportunity to kill this awful plot point with Sandy's infidelity and could have given Mike an actual moment of self-respect and they pissed it away. For what? There's nothing new you can do with her at this point.
I don't have a stake in the endgame of the comic ships but all this bullshit with Sandy created another missed opportunity with James, and that makes me upset. What if instead of rejecting him, Mike decided to try dating James for a couple of chapters to distract himself from all the time he wasted with a chick who used him for validation? You could have given him an arc where he learns to really appreciate the romantic attention and learns what it's like to be in a relationship where your partner actually pays attention to you and your needs and wants.
And if you decide to break them up because Mike should be with Lucy or Sue or Amaya, maybe you could have it so Mike isn't bi or gay, and is just attracted to the exclusive attention he's getting and not James. Then he could realize that he's treating James like Sandy treated him, as a source for emotional validation while offering nothing in return (Woah, narrative parallel?). And then make it so that he breaks up with James to do right by him. James gets to be a real character, Mike regains his self-respect and better understands who he is, and Taeshi wins an award for best on-screen duo.

But Taeshi didn't bother showing the through-line between that and Mike lashing out; instead, she just wrote Mike as lashing out, and assumed that the through-line would be clear.
Which might have worked, if not for the cause and effects being separated by both IRL years AND several dozen chapters of Pauloshow stuff that ultimately went nowhere.
