I really don't get the praise for Joan is Awful. It's probably the closest to a "Black Mirror" episode in Season 6, but it's obnoxiously tongue in cheek and doesn't even make a compelling point.
It’s complete shit. The “contract” would be ruled unconscionable by any judge and not Netflix’s stock would rank when word got out from what they’re doing
>joan is awful
completely moronic and not in a fun way, easily one of the worst episodes of anything i've watched in a long time
>loch henry
decent, but done amateurishly, could have been a cool story if it was its own thing done by a competent director, overall i enjoyed it. the twist was a bit too obvious, but i think expecting it ahead of time actually made me enjoy it more. i can see how people would think it was a slog if they weren't paying attention to all the clues they were dropping and didn't anticipate it.
>beyond the sea
really interesting idea but again, done very amateurishly. they really failed to explore a lot of the horror and philosophy of the scenario, extremely wasted potential.
>mazey day
completely moronic but i was still entertained
>it's supposed to be a fricking sci fi show
Is it? There's several episodes (the one where the prime minister fricks the pig, Shut Up & Dance) that don't have sci-fi elements.
The pig one has an vtuber main character essentially years before vtubers. Painfully obvious it's scifi. Shutup and dance again deals with tech and how it can interact with our lives. It's not necessarily futuristic sci fi but ya it's scifi
Only seen the first 2, they're not terrible. Definitely nowhere near as bad as this board is making them out to be- but they're not like the best thing I've ever seen or anything. It's pretty okay/10
I really DO NOT understand why people like Loch Henry at all. It's a scooby doo tier story or an Are You Afraid of the Dark episode. It's not scary, or interesting, or has anything to say at really.
>wow I wanted to find a story and I became the story. what cruel fate!
this has done many times before, it's a trope. a lazy one at that.
i thought the entire season was mid. none of them felt like black mirror episodes, with the exception of joan is awful which for me was perhaps the weakest one with a contrived plot
Think it's the nail in the coffin for Black Mirror, last good season was season 4.
It doesn't make sense too because the creator had more material then ever (ChatGPT, Covid Vaxx Tech, NFT morons, etc) to work with and decided to use almost nothing.
I read in an interview that the creator was tired of Black Mirror being seen as a "what if *Insert developing technology* WAS EVIL?!??" show, but essentially from the beginning that's what it was: tech-focused dystopian stories.
Deciding to 180 and bring WEREWOLVES and DEMONS into the show made literally 0 sense and was no where near executed well enough to be a successful pivot to adding supernatural episodes in future seasons.
Can't wait for 3-4 50 minute episodes of the same garbage in 3 years lads! Support our precious Hollywood writers with the strike!

the show has become outpaced by the absurdity of actual social media, news cycles, and technology. it's a show that exists after the fact. early seasons were kind of eerie, but now there's really nothing they can say that isn't already happening in reality. so they introduce werewolves and demons in a truly pathetic grasp at holding onto a once interesting premise. grim.
Episoed 1:
this really reminded me of the miley cirus one, female empowerment fantasy. was good if you are a woman
Episode 2:
disgustingly ugly protagonists, all around no good characters. was predictable as frick. tone was all over the place, zoomer humor all around. trash
Episode 3:
best one of this season by far. nice sci-fi movie with a dark ending. loved this one
Episode 4:
wtf the episode, this was literally a waste of time
Episode 5:
I liked the 70s aesthetics and horror, but the message was really fricking terrible: "the whites make immigrants mentally ill by being le racist and are to blame for them acting out in violence". Yeah, frick that. also no indian woman would ever want to frick a fricking Black person. they only want white wiener
This show is a victim of its own success. They fell for all the wankery and thought they are hot shit so just churn out a bunch of low effort 2deep4u stupid ass dogshit and pat themselves on the back for being so imaginative with their kino storylines.
>Joan is awful
6/10 - not really that much interesting, chuckled in a few moments.
>Loch Henry
8/10 - actually liked it a lot, even though it wasn't that much technology focused. Didn't see the plot twist coming and it got me by surprise, but I can see how some people could have predicted it
>Beyond the sea
7/10 - somewhat interesting concept, but boring execution. Bonus points for white christian guy not being actually a bad guy. It's not like I am a white hillbilly from the bible belt and in fact I am an atheist, but I even I was getting tired of predictable shit like "he is somewhat traditional to his wife -> he clearly is a bad guy who is going to kill her or something"
>Mazey Day
0/10 - holy shit, it was a fricking piece of garbage. I don't even know what it was supposed to mean - after all, there never was any supernatural elements to this show. To make things worse, it wasn't even fun to watch. Metalhead was a fricking masterpiece compared to this garbage.
>Demon79
2/10 - Not only it was dumb as frick, but also I fail to understand what they were trying to do here. Make schozophrenics and OCD guys even more focused on their imaginations and act upon them? The black dude playing the demon was the highlight of the episode and it was somewhat entertaining to watch, but it was a totally forgettable and stupid story.
But he was according to the ep, he ignored his wife's need for intimacy because he doesn't consider her a sexual being in the same way as he does himself. Robot has no penis = he gets no pleasure from sexual exchange = he ignores his wife's needs. That was what precipitated the whole drama with his copilot to begin with.
The first episode had some good breaking the 4th wall moments and actually consisted of fictional technology.
The other episodes were pure shit. This season is garbage.
Super boring and pozzed.
Black mirror episodes always have a twist that is ham-fisted right the end of an episode and that makes them ironcly more predictable. Most of the time in an episode is wasted on the buildup for the twist instead of actually telling an interesting story. The formula is dead and played out.
This has always been the case, but it felt more evident than ever this season. The "twist" is more like a tongue-in-cheek punchline. Then you wait for said twist (the only interesting part) to quickly wrap up during the credits. They're such strangely balanced stories. The setup could be a lot more succinct while still retaining the same effect.
Nope, all the episodes are equally boring. The entire direction, pacing and stories are just completely generic and lazy; just watch the Punisher TV show or something.
>white people are... le bad
But had good 70s aesthetics in the beginning at least. I fricking hated the lead actress whimpering noises though. It actually hurt my ear drums it was that annoying.
What are the best episodes of this show?
I watched the cp episode and some social media score one years ago with some friends and then the first three of this recent season
>episode 1
very schlocky/contrived but ultimately fun and the twist at the end was actually pretty good. Decently topical with all the writer strikes and AI stuff going on too >episode 2
Honestly one of my favourite black mirror episodes, the tone was a little all over the place and the girlfriend acting like a total moron and getting herself killed in a totally preventable way took me frick out but otherwise loved it. Not sure what other anons have against it honestly >beyond the sea
unbelievably boring. they took an incredible premise and setting and totally fumbled it. The plot also makes absolutely no sense and requires so much suspension of disbelief that the ending 'twist' barely made me feel anything (unlike episode 2 which really fricked me up).
Aaron Paul's acting carried HARD though.
to clarify on the second point, his girlfriend: >finds out that the mum is the killer >doesn't immediately stash the tape away, leaves it out plugged into the laptop for the mother to find >totally gives away that she knows the mum is the killer to her face >walks out of the house at night in the pitch black cold dark countryside in a way that makes it obvious she will either get found by the mother or die of exposure >when the mother drives up to her, she doesn't try to overpower the mother (an old woman) or run along the road back to the house via the fields, she hides from the mother and goes into a fricking COLD RUNNING RIVER IN THE DARK like a complete frickwit as if the mother has a gun (the mother did not, in fact, have a gun)
for me it would've been so easy to catch the mother alive >feign tiredness from the car crash and go to bed early to avoid having to see the mother >take one or two of the tapes with you the next day when visit your boyfriend in hospital >tell him the truth about his mum >immediately proceed to go to the police in the nearest station
simple as
you can still make the documentary, and get famous, AND arrest the mother alive so justice can be served. Fricking melt of a girlfriend
screwed it up. I refuse to blame it on shock either.
Yeah normally I don't care for these 'what if the character did this' type of bullshit criticism but it was so fricking absurd in that scene that you can't even take it seriously
Maybe that was the point and I'm missing something idk
glad someone agrees
my girlfriend and I were literally screaming at the television with how stupid the girlfriend was acting in that moment lmao
BUT the episode as a whole felt like a classic fricked-up ruin your day type black mirror episode like shut up and dance or white bear to me, that and the bartender character was such a mood.
The best scene in the episode imo was when they break into the dungeon and plan on faking crime scene footage with lemon juice under blacklight, only to realise the entire room is basically caked in piss and blood and cum on the floor, walls and even ceiling.
I watched the first three episodes, they were all good. First and third best. I read the description for the fourth and skipped it. I started watching the fifth which looked fine until muh racist politician and the literal adaptation of that webcomic where the chad says “hey good looking” vs the ugly weirdo does it and the girl calls HR
>Ep1: Decent concept, kinda funny at times, 7/10 >Ep2: Odd concept, plot made very little sense at times, silly ending, 4/10 >Ep3: Felt most "Black Mirror" to me, great acting from Josh Hartnett and Aaron Paul, predictable ending though 7/10 >Ep4: Literally dog shit, plot was moronic as frick, felt like a Twilight movie with the Muse >Ep5: Great cinematography, "muh wacism" ruined it though, had funny moments, 6/10
>Joan is awful | 2/10
Dont even know. just shit story. Cinematorgraphy was ok.
>Loch Henry | 6/10
the best out of the lot, but not sure what this has to do with sci-fi or black mirror
>Beyond the sea | 1/10
I can normally ignore plot holes, but this one was too moronic. 1 point for managing to film this shit
>Mazey Day | 1/10
yes it was shit
>Demon79 | 3/10
This one hurts as it had lots of potential if they made the demon not a quippy moron but a malicious manipulator who just wants 3 sacrifices and lies about everything else. 3 points are for the potential, otherwise its a -1/10
So in Joan is Awful, Joan shits inside a church to get Salma Hayes’s attention because she’s catholic. But in the real world Joan is doing that to Annie Murphy who is not publicly religious. So how does that make sense?
first three seasons were pure kino
season 4 was a mixed bag
season 5 had one good episode (smithereens) , one alright if funny one (striking vipers) and one absolutely terrible one (the singer one)
season 6 is pure shit, just kill netflix already
After Black Museum, I realized that this is not going in a good direction. I didn't even had the drive to watch bandersnatch.
Still I would give credit to writer for how prophetic some of the episodes are. 15 million merits got everything correct except fat fricks are celebrated instead being discriminated.
Black Museum was a really bad episode >Torturing an innocent man is bad! >Torturing an evil man? YAAAAS QUEEN
Bravo Brooker. Episode would have been 1000% times better if the black guy was actually guilty of his crimes
Is it bad that in the Loch Henry episode I immediately predicted that the cop character was going to be evil, only out of pure cynicism that they would never have a "good" cop character in an episode staring a black girl?
Why why why why give that part to a girl with no eyebrows. I couldn’t pay attention to half the episode because I was starting at where her eyebrows should have been. Why.
because the majority of people who watch this shit are equally as disgusting looking.
So they see ugly actors and point at the screen with their jaw on the floor saying “wooowww I can have a cool unique and profound adventure just like themmmm my life is cool tooooo :)”
I mean look at the mongoloid in the end of Joan is Awful for frick sake
Only watched the 3 so far >Joan is awful
Slightly funny, but they have overdone the virtual world thing 100 times >Loch Henry
A bit slow and the girl's response to the danger was moronic. It was meh >Beyond the Sea
After his family was killed I guessed the rest of the plot. It was that predictable.
>Joan is awful
The concept of someone losing everything because netflix made one of their sensationalized dramamentaries about their life is an interesting idea, but the comedy falls completely flat and AI angle is takes away from the basic idea. Also, salma hayek is a prettty bad actress.
4/10
>Loch Henry
Very, very predictable story made almost unwatchable by the inexplicable inclusion of one of most off-puttingly ugly black women I've ever seen. The parody of true crime docos at the end in no way justified this filming of this episode and the clownish bar tender was the only redeeming bit.
2/10
>Beyond the sea
Haven't watched it yet.
>Mazey day
Inexplicable combination of weak story, bad pacing, boring characters and rushed twist makes you wonder what got left in the writers room is something this off inexplicably bad and offbrand trash got the green light.
0/10
>Demon79
This ep would have been barely passable at best, but the embarrassingly bad political commentary took away any potential it could have had. Black dude did a good job as the demon, but that's about it. If this is what red mirror episodes are going to be like, then they probably shouldn't make any more.
only watched 1 and 3. both shit.
>Joan is awful | 7/10
Pretty fun episode that made me and my friends laugh a lot
>Loch Henry | 2/10
Pointless episode
>Beyond the sea | 5/10
Had some moments but unsatisfying ending
>Mazey Day | 1/10
Pure shit
>Demon79 | 1/10
Pure shit
if you laughed at "Salma Hayek's butthole" you really need to go back
If you watched any of this trash after seeing all those black faces in the episode selection you need to go back
I have a feeling you've dropped it and didnt finished it, the twist at the end and breaking the fourth wall was worth the drag
did we watch a different episode. tf u mean 4th wall?
I really don't get the praise for Joan is Awful. It's probably the closest to a "Black Mirror" episode in Season 6, but it's obnoxiously tongue in cheek and doesn't even make a compelling point.
It’s complete shit. The “contract” would be ruled unconscionable by any judge and not Netflix’s stock would rank when word got out from what they’re doing
fricking grim
>five episodes
>only one is above average
Depressing, should've been cancelled long ago
I finished the first episode and thought it was mid.
Now you're telling me it's the best one.
Damn you were honest about the first but that’s the only one I’ve seen. Does it really get that bad?
Beyond the Sea > Loch Henry > Joan is Awful > Demon 79 > Mazey Day
If you disagree you're stupid and moronic.
Loch Henry was the best episode. Joan is Awful was entertaining in a schlocky way. The rest were boring and ultimately disappointing.
loch henry didn't even feel like a black mirror episode. it's supposed to be a fricking sci fi show

care to elaborate?
Yeah that's what I thought, it was just a murder mystery. Pretty decent ending though.
Demon 79 was pretty good imo. Made me laugh a couple of times.
Only seen the first 2, they're not terrible. Definitely nowhere near as bad as this board is making them out to be- but they're not like the best thing I've ever seen or anything. It's pretty okay/10

this has done many times before, it's a trope. a lazy one at that.
It was a filler episode
The first two were disgustingly pozz’d with typical streamberry race mixing and homosexuals
i thought the entire season was mid. none of them felt like black mirror episodes, with the exception of joan is awful which for me was perhaps the weakest one with a contrived plot
>brooo le AI and they can listen to your phone
they really still doing this shit after 13 years, how contrived

he'll yeah brother
Same, I'd vote for Greg Stillton too.

Added moron boosters of being black and not having eyebrows

Is it bad that in the Loch Henry episode I immediately predicted that the cop character was going to be evil, only out of pure cynicism that they would never have a "good" cop character in an episode staring a black girl?
Not at all, in the werefolf one I thought pap girl was gonna get merked by the cop for the same reason but surprisingly it didn't happen.
do they find the most unattractive blacks to put on this show??

because the majority of people who watch this shit are equally as disgusting looking.
So they see ugly actors and point at the screen with their jaw on the floor saying “wooowww I can have a cool unique and profound adventure just like themmmm my life is cool tooooo :)”
I mean look at the mongoloid in the end of Joan is Awful for frick sake
They were both so distractingly ugly. The white dude looks like a rat
Nah he's just your typical britbong
saves a lot of money getting amateur actors.
in what universe does someone look at her and go
>oh yeah, no eyebrows. nice and smooth. that's hot
HAH oh good! Charlie knows about the memes
>it's another "YOU'RE IN A SIMULATION" episode
the cgi in demon 79 was very offenseiver
the episodes about the werewolf and the demon didn't feel like black mirror at all
Only watched the 3 so far
>Joan is awful
Slightly funny, but they have overdone the virtual world thing 100 times
>Loch Henry
A bit slow and the girl's response to the danger was moronic. It was meh
>Beyond the Sea
After his family was killed I guessed the rest of the plot. It was that predictable.
Rank the seasons now. Go.
3 > 2 > 4 > 1 > 6 > 5
season 1 was better than 2, otherwise you are right
1 > 3 > 2 > 4 > 6 > 5
Good takes, it seems 3, 4, 2 are the most highly respected of the seasons. 5 and 6 being trash tier.
>highly respected
Shut the frick up
1>2>3>>4>>>5>6
>Joan is awful
The concept of someone losing everything because netflix made one of their sensationalized dramamentaries about their life is an interesting idea, but the comedy falls completely flat and AI angle is takes away from the basic idea. Also, salma hayek is a prettty bad actress.

>Demon79
This ep would have been barely passable at best, but the embarrassingly bad political commentary took away any potential it could have had. Black dude did a good job as the demon, but that's about it. If this is what red mirror episodes are going to be like, then they probably shouldn't make any more.

How pozzed is it?
