That one was cancelled but they clearly were married to the idea of giving Blade a daughter. This was a different character with a different design.

How fricking hard is it to make a fun schlock using Mahershala Ali of all people? Seems like easiest job in the world.

          Anonymous

They don't wanna make a fun schlock movie. Ali might, but Marvel probably wants to make a PG-13 superhero movie that sands down the rough edges. Which is pretty tricky when the main character's a vampire hunter who kills the undead.

  10. 11 months ago

He doesn't work in the larger MCU because vamps are nothing compared to every other super threat.

Even in the monster hunting community he isn't a big deal because all of those chars hunt vamps and things worst than that.

Any type of real threat vamps could pose is done better by skrulls or standard x-men groups. Also doesn't help Snipe's movies were just that good at defining him and everyone else since has been trying to imitate.

Then just shunt off Blade and the other supernatural guys into their own Dark Marvel Universe. If they want a crossover, just say there’s only one Hell in the whole multiverse and use that to travel to the different worlds.

This is just getting back to that same old manga vs comics shit about "where to start" and how reader-friendly they are. Why is it taken as a given that a comic exists in a shred universe with any other comic?

Marvel's horror themed books have recently been some of their best books with stuff like Tom King's Vision, sorry I brought up the bad man but the comic was good frick you Immortal Hulk, PKJ's Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ghost Rider. Blade deserves to join this corner of horror Marvel.

Remember, Disney's suits was all into the editorial during this time and at Ewing's neck.
Ewing may be a neocohen libtard on social media, but at work, but he would never be this moronic unless there is editor and higher up shit on top of it to force it for journo clicks, same people who pushed that abomination of she-hulk comic and many garbage of that period.

Blade is such an easy character to write for, and his stories are basically insulated from the rest of the marvel universe. No idea why they were so reluctant to give him more solo runs.

Literally just do some 6-12 issue test runs with fully planned out stories. If they succeed then you could try and launch a longer running one

90% of the time his stories should have nothing to do with any other marvel characters IMO, basically like the Punisher.

The 10% where he does should just be some fun team ups or he temporarily has to deal with some villain from another heroes rogue gallery because he’s working for some rich vampires (bullseye vs Blade would be fun for example)

Give me one, just ONE reason why I should give a single shit about Blade? The dude is probably THE most niche character in Marvel that is laughable when compared to everything else going on in canon. He's a vampire hunter. Okay, and? If I wanted to read stories with supernatural heroes, I'd could easily pick up Doctor Strange, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, etc. Vampires? I would unironically prefer reading Morbius than Blade.

The comic Blade debuted in lasted 70 issues, so it was probably doing something right.

Blade has never been all that popular. All those anons claiming they love Blade just have vaguely fond memories of the first movie and/or are saying it as a way to justify their hate of some other black character.
Blade is one of those properties that never comes up here on its own, it's always introduced as a response to something the person is complaining about.

Blade and Cloak & Dagger are two Marvel series I've always wanted to get a modern revamp to make them relevant again. I want to see their comics BECAUSE they've been neglected. I've never actually read Tomb of Dracula beyond the one issue that ties into Doctor Strange vs. Dracula and I've never read a Blade solo comic. The only time I've encountered Cloak and Dagger is Runaways and Savage Avengers.
