huh, maybe I'll watch this. Did this just never get advertised or something?
I liked SAC_2045 (as goofy as it was), the posthuman concept and execution was kino (but the ending was a waste of time)

2049 isn't trying to look "pretty". Futuristic dystopias should look bleak and inhospitable.

is it just the film/digital difference or does the right actually look plain and sterile compared to the left? like they put more effort in designing the world and making it look real

It's the way nu lighting is. Everything is incredibly visible, even when it's not on a sound stage. Makes everything look overly false.

guess that could be it. really noticeable in the last two shots. original movie has the light source out of frame and illuminating the actors, and they take advantage of the blinds to add some texture. but on 2049 villanueve puts the light BEHIND the characters and taking part of the frame so they're in the shade. doesn't look anywhere as good or as noir

No the right is very plain and simple compared to the left. That’s what bugged me most about its look. So much rich detail from the original, gone. The street views of the city are some of the worst.

I like 2049, but Blade Runner is the much superior film.

    It'll be trash
    My expectations are hopelessly low

A blade runner needs to be serious. No stupid marvel humour or le quirky shit.
    Dry wit is fine.
But no, it'll be made by and for a female audience so it will have le quirky shit to make it "fun"

Because we always talk about this shit I'll bring it up now:
I'm fairly ok with sci-fi, particularly cyberpunk stuff, being super pozzed.
And not even when the Deverses are presented as antagonists or anything, I'm fine when they're friends of the protagonist etc.

It's appropriate to the dystopian futuristic themes that people like this are just everywhere and you just have to tolerate them in your streets, workplaces and social circles.

Exactly. Gay trans Blacks everywhere only adds to the dystopic themes.
