I don't understand this complaint. MacKay is giving artists the opportunity to design visually interesting villains and now that they exist as Marvel products, the potential is there for someone else to come along and make them interesting as characters. No downside.
I think the meat statue thing does look mildly creepy.
I think if it wasn't stuck in some dumb capeshit event and was used in an actual horror comic instead, it may have been more effective.

I think most of them are still living in Chernobyl last I checked since Dracula made it into vampire country and asked Blade to come make sure they didn't all turn into war mongering homosexuals with no value for human life or some shit.
From what I read (if I'm not botching the description up), Dracula isn't behind this uprising, so seems like he's a "hero" in this. I imagine these suckers will show up in one form or another (as background, that is, not necessarily a meaty part of the story).
